Is this right?
Cher, there are 2 types of tightness. Tightness to liquids and tightness to solids. If you are tight to liquids that is a very bad sign and you need an unfill. If you are tight to solids then move to a mushier diet to see if that works. Then if you are losing on a softer diet you need to make the decision on whether or not you want to stay there. If you really want to eat more solids it may take an unfill. Personally speaking, when I'm at 3.2 in my 4cc band I stay on a softer diet. I am going in after Xmas to go back to 3.2. I lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks there then came back down to 2.9. Hope this helps you.

Fills after moving
I would definitely have another surgeon approve you for fills before you move. Maybe you could negotiate a little less for surgery based on no fills. My insurance doesn't cover fills and I have probably spend over $2k in 1 1/2 years.

does anyone have feelings for their lapband doctor?
Shelli, you definitely are not alone! Mine is a complete cutie pie. I love going to see him! He is amazing.

banded and no restrictions
Missy, you are doing great. It is really good you are starting to exercise. Just make sure you keep going back for fills until you reach your sweet spot. You will know when that is. Good luck.

How did you get back on track?
First thing I do is make sure I have enough restriction. In my case I am going back in after Christmas for a fill. I am going to recommit myself and eat healthy and limit alcohol. Keep your eye on the prize and look at some "fat" pictures. You can do it!

does anyone have feelings for their lapband doctor?
My lapband doctor is a totally hotty. My girlfriend who was banded always tells him "if you were single, etc, etc". He blushes. I always remember he already saw me naked! What a hunk I'll tell you. Smile

Lap band erosion
I am so sorry to hear that! Truthfully that scared me too. My insurance covered the band but I don't know about removal. Good luck to you.

Unsupportive friend, fear of dying & leaving motherless child-how do I handle?
Kimmi, I have a 15 year old son too. He completely supported my surgery. It is so much fun now when he hangs out with his high school friends that tell me "wow, you have lost weight". Congrats on making the best decision for you!

not taking my vitamins! Why do I hate taking care of myself????
Mary, I take my medication first thing in the a.m. with my protein shake. Just get in the rhythm. As far as vitamins and water consumption I am really bad at that I must admit. I haven't lost any hair though so that is a good thing. Good luck.

Am I crazy for doing this so soon?
You are not crazy to want surgery that soon. I went in for my consult and had surgery about 8 weeks later. I knew this was right for me. Good luck!

Up and Down...
I gained 7 lbs in between fills one time. If you are at 800 calories a day you should be losing. Your fill will help a lot.

I'm fourteen-- am I eligible for the lap band?
The youngest patient my doctor has is 16 years old.

Anyone pick up the book "Fighting the Weight"??
Yes, I read the book. It was really good.

Finally ready!
Melissa, it sounds like you are in a really good place right now. Congrats on making the committment to be banded. You will love it! Good luck.

Lap band erosion
If I am correct, a slip can be mended by an unfill. Erosion is completely different. Do you know if he can give you a new band? I think sometimes they have to wait to have the stomach return to normal.

First Fill...and I can eat MORE!?!?!?!?
Yes, go back in for another fill. How long does your doctor make you wait in between fills? Mine makes you wait 2 weeks. FYI. It took me 5 fills and about 6 months before I felt real restriction. Good luck.

Successful losers what is a days food for you?
30 gram protein shake, small sandwish, usually 1/4 of a high protein sandwish or solid protein followed by solid protein for dinner and a small bite of vegies. Protein is your friend!

Question About SWEETS.
Julie, sweets are fine just not in excess. I eat everything, just less of it. My doctor is a big advocate for cheese cake since it is high in protein! Enjoy all foods. It is really important. Good luck with your surgery! Julie

Maintanence
I asked my doctor the same question. Unless there is a problem he typically will not order a scope. That being said he did say that some patients do them once a year for maintenance.

Now just obese
Great news. I am 35 lbs from being overweight. I can't wait! Good job!

Unsupportive friend, fear of dying & leaving motherless child-how do I handle?
This was the easiest surgery I have ever had. My worst one was when I had my tubes tied. This was a breeze.

Tamika, I remember how exciting it was before surgery. You will love being banded. Congrats and I hope your journey is speedy. Julie
