Not enough restriction again.

Recommended Posts

Okay I have had my third fill and not enough restriction. My first fill wa 4.9 ccs, 2nd was 1 more cc. I got light headed and sick to my stomach for some reason so we stopped at 1. The third fill was 1.6 more. that is 7 and one half cc's. What does it take? I am beginning to wonder if that is possible. I do not know my band size. I have asked twice and I did not get an answer either time. I ate a 6 inch sub from Subway and a bowl of vegetable Soup and then found myself back in the kitchen eating a bowl of flavored oatmeal tonight. I know the band is there because I sometimes forget to chew and food gets slightly stuck. I am a little discouraged tonight. All I want to do is eat.

SueSue,

Did you read what you just wrote? A six inch sub? and some Soup? What were you eating before? I know I could have eaten a 12 inch sub before my new lap band life. And going back for oatmeal...Yeah! you made a wise choice. Yes you are still hungry but you are making good choices. You'll find the right fill. Keep telling your doctor how you feel.

I Understand Your Fustration, I Have Been Filled 5 Times Already And Sometimes Can Eat Like That(not The Bread) I Decided To Leave It Out Of My New Life With The Band, anyway, You Just Keep Letting Your Dr. Know That You Can Still Eat To Much. I Was Banded 9/5 And My Last Fill Was 12/3 And I'm Just Starting To Feel A Little Restriction So Don't Give Up. I 'm Starting To Believe If Your Bmi Isn't Super High Than It Makes The scale And The Weight Barely Come Off.(that's Just My Opionion, I Wouldn't Want Anyone Biteing My Head Off).so When Did You Have Your Surgery Suesue?

Sue my dear. I wouldn't worry about how many fills you have. I would go back until you hit your sweet spot. It took me 5 fills and 6 months to get there. Don't be shy of fills. How much can you eat?

I have 4cc's in a 10 cc aps band. I can still eat like suesue can too. Sometimes food gets stuck too depending on what it is and what time of day it is, so I do know there is something in there trying to work. I go for another 1cc this week I think...hopefully that will help me. I know that just even a half or a full cc can be the magic moment. It really is frustrating to keep wanting to eat when you just want to get restriction..you feel like you are failing yet another diet in your life. It does take a lot of patience with these bands, but we will all get there. I must admit, sometimes I get jealous when I watch shows like "Big Medicine" where people get the gastric bypass and lose like...80 lbs in just 3 months.:faint:

I am there with all of you. I go for my 3rd fill Friday. I can eat alot. And yes it is alot less than before. I am just worried I will gain some weight back . I have been lucky , only 30 lost but 0 gained. So yes I feel like a failure on my huge eating days. I have to say this web site is the only thing that keeps me going. Giving me imformation like we will get there, there is such a thing as sweet spot. I know I will get there. But this web site has kept my hope up. I will let the doctor know Friday hey I can eat a horse if you put it in front of me. He won't be happy with my weight loss, so maybe I might get a better fill. I am just going to be honest with him.

I think it takes more fills for some than others. I have had three and i can only eat small amounts. Really small. I have 2.5 ccs in a four cc band.Keep asking your doc what size your band is. That is something you should know. Donna Good luck

I feel the same way. I am about to get my third fill and am hoping for a change. I can eat a lot more than I want to be able to. Still not as much as before but more than I should to lose. I keep craving salty, crunchy, snacky stuff like the soy crisps, chex mix, chips/dip, etc. And, so if I want it, I eat it. I know it's head hunger and not true hunger that I'm struggling with most of the time. I want restriction to the point of the thought of food making me sick.

I have had 3 fills. I have a phone appointment with my nutritionist on Weds. I am pretty tight in the AM but then after lunch I can eat a ton. I don't know what she will say since I have lost a bunch of weight since my last appt. but I am hoping she and my surgeon will agree to a tiny fill since I feel like that is all I need.

It is frustrating since I was really restricted for the first 1 1/2 - 2 weeks after and then it goes away.

Mandi..you are right almost exactly like me. I was banded 9/26 and have had the same fill dates to the December one even. I can still eat just like you too. I too am hoping for restriction enough so that the thought of food goes away.

That is exactly how I feel!!! Except that I don't want to be so tight that I can't get anything down - I have been there and don't ever want to be that tight again. I honestly thought I was dying . . .

Right now I have 2.3 in my 4cc band. I was way too tight at 2.7, so I am guessing my 'sweet spot' is somewhere between 2.3 and 2.7. I am going to call tomorrow and see if I can get just .1 or .2 more - based on my experience I don't want to get too close to 2.7 again.

Are you filled with saline or omnipaque? When I had the saline it disappeared, but that doesn't happen with the omni.

I don't really know much about the omnipaque - I think I will ask my surgeon about that for my next fill.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
