  1. UHC did not cover my fills. I've had $800 out of pocket. YOu may want to research. Good luck.
  2. I get mine from GNC and they are loaded with protein. I think it has 25 grams per serving with milk. YOu should try them. They don't taste like chalk at all. Good luck.
  3. How is everyone doing on the valentines day challenge? I was down 3 lbs and bumped back up 3. I'm back on the wagon again today and getting a fill on Thursday. Keep me posted.
  4. You are doing great. If you are getting in a 1/1 cup of food per meal you are eating like a bandster. I would continue to eat that way. It sounds like it is working for you. Good luck.
  5. Depends on how you look at it. If you want to eat anything you can. It depends on whether or not you want to take the calories in. A chicken enchilda with rice and beans might be nice. I like chile rellenos the best. But I think they are high in calories. Enjoy a nice Margarita with a nice tostado or enchila. It will be fun. Just get back on program when you are done. If you are on mushy stage I would go for rice and beans and add in a cheese enchilda. That would be really easy to get down. Have fun!
  6. I think I was on liquid or mushy stage. In any case, I survived on a lot of soup (no meat though) and yogurt. I also drink a ton of protein shakes. Mashed potatoes are a good one too. Cottage cheese is really good for you. Try a mash potato with cottage cheese. That is a real treat. Good luck.
  7. Welcome to the lapbandtalk forum. YOu will find plenty of support here so post post post. Congrats on your impending surgery. The lapband has really helped me. I'm sure it will help you too. Good luck.
  8. Lisa, I read this article. This would be something that may happen 1 in a million chance. This doctor obviously didn't know what he was doing or didn't realize she wanted removal. I would take didn't know what he was doing. Just do your homework on a good surgeon. Make sure they have done hundreds of lapbands. I have a great Doctor in San Jose, CA. His name is Robert McKeen. Where do you live? I wouldn't take this article too much to heart. This would be a really rare occurance, one that probably wouldn't happen again given more time. I would move foward. I love my lapband very much. I can't live without it now. Good luck.
  9. Hi Sherry, I think I had my first fill at 6 weeks. Not sure if your surgeon recommends 4 or 6 weeks. Good luck.
  10. You needa another fill. I don't think you stretched your band.
  11. That is great. I have 3 ccs in my 10cc band and I go in for another fill Thursday.
  12. I just stocked up on soup, juice, popsicles, yogurt, etc. It was a breeze.
  13. That is great news. Congratulations.
  14. Hi Paula, I don't know too much about band erosion but I hope everything goes okay with you. Good luck.
  15. Welcome to bandland. Hope you are doing well with your decision. You will love your band.
  16. Hi Karen, I was banded June 6th. I remember being really scared too. YOu will do great.
  17. Robin, you definitely need a fill. YOu will feel much better afterwards. Good luck.
  18. Lauren, 1 more step closer. Congrats.
  19. That is fantastic. Way to go.
  20. I cried like a baby before my surgery. I felt like I completely let myself down. My so called best friend ie. food had become my worst enemy. I am so happy I am banded now. I feel so much better.
  21. You are completely normal. You just need a fill or 2. Good luck.
  22. My hunger didn't return for at least a month. That is the beauty of the band. I went in for a fill when I got too hungry.
  23. You need a fill if a)you are always hungry b)are not losing weight or c)can eat more than a cup at a time. You will definitely know if you need a fill. If you have lost 20 lbs in that short of time you may want to wait. Especially if you ever PB or get a golf ball feeling. Good luck.
  24. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and was back to work the following Monday. So I took 5 complete days to heal. I think that is about right.
  25. No, I initially lost 30lbs but it took me forever. I've been banded 6 months and I'm down 35 lbs. I am losing at the rate of 1 lb per week.
