  1. I haven't had the lap band yet -- losing weight TO have it. BUT I'm nearing the 400 mark. I can't wait to cross over it. This morning I weigh 403.
  2. It had been awhile since I took the Real Age Test. I'm 49, but my "real age" was 54 last year. Today, my "real age" is 46.9. It's a nice way to see how you are doing in the new lifestyle. http://www.oprah.com/health/lifestages/realage/health_real_main.jhtml
  3. Don't be surprised, it's just us future Cougars checking out the younger men before we reach our goal weights. Actually, MySpace is like a web AOL. I know people from 14 to 70. And most of those saying they are "14" are much older. "14" or below are the ones who can set privacy. Those of us honest with our ages can't limit those who contact us as well.
  4. There are two WLS groups on MySpace, but they are heavy in gastric bypass people, and if you mention lapband, they start acting like you don't have a brain. If anyone starts a LapBand Only Group, then I would join. http://www.myspace.com/literary_lady
  5. It really depends if you are an apple or a pear, too. I think apples can get away without the extender more. If you are too embarrassed, consider flying first class. The first class seats are twice the size of coach and the belts have always fit me. Several years ago, a classmate died from circulation problems one day after a long flight in coach. There is a higher chance of blood clots forming. I only fly first class, now.
  6. That sounds good to me!! My pre-surgery goal weight is 327 to get my BMI down to 60. I'm 5'2" and 409 lbs with a BMI of 74.8. That was my weekly weigh-in yesterday at the Memorial Bariatric Center in Savannah. Funny thing is I was 5'4" all my life, so I've suddenly shrunk two inches? Think I'll have them remeasure that next Wednesday. Another funny thing is my new home bariatric scale said I weighed 413 at 8am, and when I weighed at the doctor's office at 10am, I was 409. OK, I'm keeping the 409:clap2: ...and subtracting 4 lbs from my home bariatric scale. Honestly, I was 285 for decades and maintained it. I still see and think of myself at that size. So, when I see group pictures now, I think "who is that large person?" DANG, IT'S ME!!! So happy to see this thread!!!
  7. Gone for Good Club Spring Challenge Score Card JoyceGA H 450/ J 409 / C 398 / G 165 New Member of the Gone for Good Club and LapBandTalk. I hope to have the surgery later this summer. I have 82 more pounds to lose prior to surgery. I did something like this on eDiets years ago, so I look forward to this Challenge. -- JoyceGA Points earned for Rule 1 For each day that you drink a minimum of 64oz of Water, you earn 1 point. 8. Thank you, Amy. My tumor is behind my left knee. It isn't cancer. The CAT Scan showed two cysts and the tumor. What they think is that it is an older cyst that became hard and started gathering tissue. It is hard and weighs 50 lbs on its own. I think I will try to hold off for at least six months, then have the tumor removed. THEN I can exercise easier and lose the rest. I would be happy to do a second body lift when I reach my goal weight.
  9. OK, so I'm still learning how the html here works. Note my subject heading.
  10. One of the main reasons I am having lapband is to lose enough to remove a tumor on my left leg. The plastic surgeon said I needed to lose 100 lbs before he could remove it. I'm wondering what weight does everyone get down to before having a lower body lift or leg surgery of another kind?
  11. I am just starting the WLS journey. I've already lost 41 lbs from my high of 450, and have 82 to go for the surgery. My target weight is 165, but by increasing exercise, I hope to get back to my college weight of 125. Why do I call my LapBandTalk journal "When Pigs Fly", well, I've called my kitchen "When Pigs Fly Kitchen" for years and even decorate with flying pigs, because I hate to cook. I used to cook as often as pigs flying. However, getting ready for WLS, I am learning to make healthy smoothies, cook light, and drink Water. I am thinking about food more than I ever had, AND the pounds are coming off!! I also have profiles on ObesityHelp and MySpace, but I found the RNY post-ops railroading their procedure over the lapband clients. Plus, I couldn't find a lapband person to answer my question. Either they lurked and e-mailed me, but the lapband folk have been silenced. Well, "nobody puts Baby in the corner!!" So, I can't wait to chat and learn HERE!! This "pig" is going to fly as I achieve each goal.
