Anything that triggers lymphedema is never a suck it up situation. Plain and simple. Call the office. You are going to need to find a Protein Powder that works without doing that because for the first few weeks after surgery it is going to be your source of Protein. Don't mess with it.
Also, stay off the damn scale. There is no reason to weigh yourself daily if you cannot brush off the 4 pound swings. I still get them and I'm down 110 pounds. If you are going to make yourself nuts, there is no point, unless you like torturing yourself - at which point - go for it girl.

    Yes!
These poor souls who have eaten their way up to 500, 600, and 700 pounds obviously have severe emotional issues. They need intensive therapy before and after the surgery. Really, I feel it should be a requirement for ANY of us who are thinking about or have already had surgery. I think the rates of regain would drop dramatically.
In another note, I used to think Dr Now was kind of an ass, but apparently according to people who have seen him speak at the WLSFA conventions, he was very kind and actually cares very much for the well being and success of his patients. That was nice to hear.

The irony of obese people who had to to resort to WLS judging other obese people who had to resort to WLS is staggering.
Obese is obese. Whether you're 250 pounds or 650 pounds, the struggles are basically the same.
    Be humble and remember that.

It did not strike a chord with me...I think its unfortunate that overweight people attack each other when we all obviously have similar issues. Is there really that much of a difference between someone who is 400 lb vs 425 lb or 290 lb vs 322 lbs? We got issues with food...

Wait what? You are disappointed to have "only" lost 60 pounds in 4 months?!?!?! That's an average of 15 pounds a month! I didn't even lose 15 pounds my first month post-op. And after that I averaged about 6 pounds per month for the next several months. Now I'm happy with TWO pounds a month!
Sounds to me like you set some very unrealistic expectations for yourself.
Can I ask you a very serious question? Why do you feel you need to lose the weight so quickly? I lost weight MUCH more slowly than you have and now I'm only 3.6 pounds from goal. Even though I lost weight "slowly", I'm still reaching my goal. I'm still way happier and healthier than I've ever been. Why does it matter how long it takes you to get there, as long as you get there eventually? This isn't a diet. Once you are at goal, you won't be "done". Your WLS is forever. Ten years from now when you are enjoying your happy, healthy life, is it going to matter that it took you 18 months to reach your goal weight instead of 12? NOPE!
PS: Just did the math. It took me 10 months to lose 60 pounds....

I have been collecting for the victims of the valley fire in northern ca. generally the evacuee centers have been overwhelmed with used clothes. that being said, there is a real shortage of plus size women's clothing in large sizes, pretty much nothing in fact. at the moose lodge in middletown ca, I saw women and men in wheelchairs living in tents, having lost EVERYTHING. they need practical things like coats and tents. for info and to try to connect with specific needs and families, try VALLEY FIRE INFORMATION on Facebook and related sites. I am going to try to connect up with specific needs and individuals so as not to add to the piles of STUFF needing to be sorted and got under cover before the autumn rains start. also people are trying to replace collections that they treasured, such as a collection of hallmark and mt st helens ornaments. if you would like to help in this effort, message me. of value: coats, hats, scarves and such, especially if you would like to handmake the hats. my group is called, ART AGAINST THE STORM. we will also be having auctions of nice art work and hand made items to fundraise for relief of fire victims, both human and animal. cheers and love, sara crystal

I love fish! Salmon is one of my favorites, but I also like flounder. The best thing to do is research how to cook it. Fish shouldn't "smell" like fish.. it really shouldn't smell at all. Smelly fish is old fish. Try to buy fresh caught wild fish, and not farm raised. And really research how to cook it. Most fish is terrible if its overcooked. Salmon shouldn't be cooked all the way through.

Thanks! I'm currently at a stall, but have stopped weighing myself. I'm drinking as much Water as possible and getting in as much Protein as I can. I'm so happy to see inches falling off! I went to target yesterday and found out that I fit in a 2x and not 4x anymore!! The 2x was even a little loose!! That's so much more to me than weight loss!!! I'm getting there!!!

Can I just ask one more question ? Im dying to know what her size is roughly ! Is she average size ? Small, medium or large ? If she's small to medium she may not ever have had a weight problem, (ignorant about obesity), if she's larger is she jealous of you because you're tackling your weight in healthy way ? Spitefull because she can't / won't deal with her own problems and you're working hard to overcome yours ? ( screw her! sorry........... that was my inside voice...........) Just curious. Either way, she's still going to be a hater, and your going to be even more fabulous than you already are !! Just sayin'............

My biggest challenge while I was losing 90+ pounds was not breaking the bank while acquiring clothes I knew I wouldn't be wearing very long.
Like many of us, I shopped out of my closet for many months as I dropped from sizes 18-20 down to 14. But below that, the pickings got thin, so to speak.
As I shrunk down through sizes 12, 10 and into 8s, I found some magnificent pieces -- and not just for work or "dress-up" -- at shockingly low prices at high-end consignment shops. Casual and weekend clothes (jeans, workout clothes) came from Target, JCPenney (a surprising good source of "yoga clothing"), and T.J. Maxx.

She's selling her services. She made all these mistakes now she wants us to pay her so we don't.
I don't care, I've always been a quirky, gothy, weird, punk rock girl, and going to remain that girl. Fat or thin.
Plus I would never spend that much money on clothing. That money could be used so much more wisely. To help others, comes to mind. Just my opinion, doesn't have to be your truth.

Boy am I glad I work from home and only have to dress up once in a while. Eeek! But as for clothes, I do think the jeans sizes going down are the key to happiness and momentum (rather than that damn scale).

    OK, @@CanyonBaby ... one word ... Marinol.
It's an Rx (capsule) that contains the extract from marijuana that gives chemo patients the munchies. But it doesn't do anything to your perceptions or intoxicate you or sedate you in any way that marijuana does.
And yes, I got my retired cop hubby to take it. Marinol is AMAZINGLY effective in stimulating the appetite. If your oncologist doesn't mention it, ask for it. Friends (who've had cancer) told us about it.
And for sleep, Ativan (Lorazepam) is a very effective anti-nausea pill. You might recognize that drug name as a well known anti-anxiety medication. Hubby took it just before dinner every night. It relaxed him at night, and he slept like a baby. Of course, I dunno if your hubby could take it, but I'm just sharing what worked for us.
And as far as a sleep aid for me -- half a tab of Ambien (10 mg.) worked fine when I needed it. But like you, I was pretty zonked out after doing all my work and his errands and caring for him and taking him to medical appointments.
