How's everyone doing with smoking?? My surgery is 2/18/09 and for better or worse, my surgeon doesn't require patients to quit - although it's obviously not advised. I've smoked everday for 7 years and I'm terrified to try and quit. We all know how bad it is - but I love it - well I love it and hate it. Part of getting the band is to be "free" from food - and I need to be free from smoking also. I know I NEED to stop - but I'm scared.

Oh Goodness do I relate! I start my pre-op liquids on Wednesday and all weekend I stuffed myself - I can't believe how addicting food really is. I'm also feeling a lot of anxiety - but I know I'm following the right path. Keep me posted on how you're doing, okay? Best wishes always!

Hi There! I'm scheduled with Dr. Davis on 2/18 for surgery! I have my first meeting with him on 2/11, but his office staff and NP have been wonderful so far!! He came highly recommended from a friend of mine who is a OR nurse at Valley Hospital. Good Luck!!

I'm having my surgery 2/18 with Dr. Daniel Davis, who is an associate of Dr. Bessler. They are both supposed to be fantastic and Dr. Davis came highly recommended. I have to start my diet on Wednesday and I'm SCARED! I'm afraid I won't be able to stick with it - and I know how terrible that sounds considering the surgery I'm going for! I'm just going to keep praying! Good Luck Ivernous - we can do this

Hi Everyone!! I got my approval from Horizon BCBS of NJ this week!! I was shocked that it only took 2 weeks! My date is 2/18 - Im nervous, excited, happy, anxious - everything all in one!! I also got engaged this week - so it's been a whirlwind for me!! Anyone else in February?

Hello! My name is Melissa and I'm hoping to have Lap Band surgery in January or February 2009. After several information sessions and meetings, I met with Dr. Davis's office at Valley Hospital in NJ. I started the 6 months of weigh-ins in August and will be done January 7, 2009. I'm 24 years old with a BMI of 49 and 115 lbs to lose. I'm scared, excited, nervous, thrilled... etc... I also have PCOS which hopefully will be alleviated through weight loss. I'm submitting to the Horizon BCBC NJ approval process in January, and I pray I get approved! I don't really know what to expect during the insurance approval process. My worst fear is to be denied after all of this time and preparation. I just keep praying that I get approved.
