Your Scars
Lol! I think I am with you on that. I forgot all about the stretch marks. We should try that vitiman E, and see what it does. I had no children and there no reason for my belly to have gotten this way, but we are on the way to a slimmer us. We will loose the weight and be hot in out bathing suits. We can just have low cut/ busty swim wear.

Hello All :)
See I would be in agreement, if I had been on some weights last night, but I didn't. LOL! I was on the bike, but I was at level three (don't know). My girlfriend told me not to get on the scale anymore this week. I will try that. I don't know if it will work, but I will try. You are right about the fluids, and they make me so full. I will try drinking more water at night. So tell me how did it feel to get your first fill? I am kinda nervous about that. You have to eat Soup for the first day (after the fill) right?

Whyyyyyy????????????
I was doing so good for the first 3wks since having my surgery, but now I am starting to feel the struggle. My weight has been going up and down. I know that I haven't been working out as much as much as I should, but I am doing better about my reading. I worked out last night, and got on the scale this morning and was up 2lbs. I am so discouraged. I will at the gym tonight, but I want to get out of the 280's by Christmas.

Hello All :)
I have been struggling. Well I shouldn't use the word struggle if I am trying to look at this from a positive prospective, but the weight is not moving. I guess I shouldn't look at the scale everyday, but its so hard and soooo very tempting. I worked out last night, so I expected to see some movement on the scale, especially since my muscles were responding to the work out last night. I got on the scale, and saw 2lb increase. I was so suprised, cause I didn't even eat a lot. I have been seeing that a lot lately. One day I'm up 2lbs, the next, I'm down 3lb. I am not liking this at all.

30 Days~ Join me please!
Yes girl! Whatever you can do to get it in, needs to happen. I am not really seeing this scale move like I want, so I will be at the gym again. I want to be in the 270's by Christmas. I am trying to have small expectations instead of the big ones. Cause this fat is fighting to stay. But, I refuse. I got this surgery for a reason, and I will put in the work to make it happen.

30 Days~ Join me please!
Sounds like things are going well for you. Stay encouraged. I also live in Maryland, so maybe we can continue to support one another. I had my surgery on 11/6/08, and I was a work outer. I had some difficulties getting back into my routine, but its seems as though I am getting this thing going. I felt really good after my workout. My muscles were happy to be working again. I plan to start swimming again (in Jan), I know my coaches will be happy to see me. A new boyfriend that also works out, and a new outlook on life is a great combo. Keep up the good work :tt2:

Listening to my Body
I guess we are all learning that. Its a good thing that it did not get stuck. I hate that feeling. I sometimes just don't chew my food as I should. I was eating some chicken, and I just thought I could eat like i use to. Not only was I so full that I felt I would bust, I had chicken stuck in my throat. I was the worst feeling. I was in a panic, but I got through it. I am learning. I guess we all are.

30 Days~ Join me please!
Well it turned out, I only worked out that one time. I am so upset. My job had me so consumed, and I just couldn't let go. I was coming home 8:30/ 9:00p, with no energy to work out. One day, I didn't get to eat until after 8:30p. I was an emotional reck. The funny thing was, I really wanted to over eat, and my little stomach was not hearing that. LOL! I was mad, cause I wanted to make up for lunch and dinner. I had to really talk to myself and remind myself, that I would be okay just eating the one meal (well I had a protein shake, a banana and some yogurt, but not lunch), and my mind just couldn't shake that. I realize that has been one of my down falls, eating late as hell. I am greatful for this surgery, because I am forced to not to over eat. I am getting my mind on track with my body (slllooooooowwwwwwwwwlllllllyyy). I will be at the gym in the morning. I think your task of walking to the game was cool. Heck, you could have been dropped off. LOL! I know the other people probably would have have agreed to that, but the option could have been different none the less. Stay encouraged

Hello All :)
We have to offer that encouragement. I know I have really needed it since being banded, cause my family doesn't truly understand what I have been through. I want this to be an success for me, but I know I also have to work for it. How was the rest of your week

Where Are My G.R.I.T.S
Well I am from Alabama, but I live in Maryland. We are officially the beginning and the end of the south, since we straddle the mason dixie line. So (as I butt my way through) I hope ya don't mind a sista joining in with my southern folks. I know what grits are and I love them! I recently ran out, cause I like my Jimmy Dandy grits, but they are made differently in MD, so I have to wait until I visit Mom's to get the kind I like. I just wanted to say Hello! to all the sista. I am loving this women of color group. I can't say that I was getting bored with the other forums, but I was needing to hear from my sistas. Sometimes our experience is far different, and you need someone that looks like you to connect with. I look forward to the many chats with you all.

Your Scars
Well, I haven't used anything yet on my scars. I was seriously thinking about it though. I will be a month tomorrow. I can say that they have been healing nicely, but I want them to be completely gone. I was suppose to get some Vitiman E. I guess I need to get on that, cause I truly don't want any evidence of surgery on my stomach. I want the port scar to be healed as well too. I don't know if I will ever wear a bikini, but I don't want my scars to be the reason. LOL!

Hello All :)
I think that weight loss surgery is a process in itself. I don't think it would be easy, and if you had bipass, you would still have things to do. I think the biggest hurdle was having the surgery. You lost 15! That is great. Don't minimize it and say that it was just water weight, and so if it was, that is less water on you body. I too have really been discouraged, and I think that is the journey of this experience. If someone could have just removed the weight during the surgery and we worked to keep the weight off, maybe that could be a easier route. But then we would be fighting to learn to keep it off. The estimated goal is 1 to 2 pounds a week. That is doable and natural. I too had to remind myself, that I should not be loosing weight so fast. I had my surgery on the 6th (one week before you), I have officially lost 21 pounds (as of today). I am excited, but I have so much more work to do. You do too. This site is us all. I am here anytime you want to reach out for support. You will get through this. Don't be hard on yourself, and be content with the decision that you made to have the band surgery. You are doing fine. Keep up the great work. You will see Beyonce soon (big smile)

30 Days~ Join me please!
I am joining this group late in the game, but I really need to get motivated. I am not happy that I am not approved to swim, but I can do light exercise. So I am on my way to the gym to get on the bike. Where is everyone. Are you all still working out everyday?

Hello All :)
Who was your doctor? I also had my surgery in DC

Hello All :)
Well stay encouraged. I had my surgery on Nov. 6th, and I don't regret my decision. Before the surgery, I was at my height weight ever 305, and so far I have been doing okay. I haven't had my first fill, so I am a bit anxious about that process, but I know I will be fine. I also live in Maryland, but I had my surgery in DC. I am also here to provide you with all the support that you need. Stay encouraged

new to the jax area site
I think there is a site on the main page. In my opinion no matter what your are going through medically, you can 't loose with this surgery. I wish I would have know about this support group before having my surgery, but I found it 5 days later. I think whenever you receive your support, that is the time that you need it most. I had my surgery almost one month ago, and I enjoy this site. It has really been helpful. I am just becoming active with the WLS group, but I know that the support will be there. So is this meeting your first consultation?

Just checking in
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am newly banded. I will have my one month anniversary on the 6th. I am excited about the weight that I have lost so far, but I feel that I am starting to really feel the struggle, not being filled yet. I am on mushy food (not really doing the pureed thing, as I should), and I am really experiencing the chocking thing (only 3 times, and that is enough for me). I am starting to feel more hungry in the evenings, which is starting to make me nervous. I am getting in my Protein (which I know is good), but I am not feel good about my eating. Anyone have any helpful suggestions. Thanks in advance for your effort to offer some support

Sooooooo hungry??
I am day 14 (well its after midnight, so day 15), and I have been hungry since around day 9. It got serious as the days went on. I had to just eat more when I could and have yogurt or pudding in between meals. I also started having cravings, as a result of my cycle. I wasn't expecting that. I think that may have been the reason why I was so hungry. I had to remind myself of what was going on with me mentally and physically. I got though the moment. Now all I can say is that I'm so tired of creamy soups and after my appointment with the doctor I will be treating myself to something. I'm just not sure what it will be. LOL! Hang in there girl

I Cheated!!!!!!! Help
I gained like 4 pounds before my surgery, and the night before, i didn't eat after 6pm. I am not telling you to do what I did. I think they tell you all that to prepare you for what is to come after the surgery. You will be find, don't stress out about it. I am sure that you will have a slip or two after the surgery as well. I have read many that fell, but got back up. No worries. Woowoo

Oh, my bad. Ticker, I think Tickler sounds better. LOL! I will keep the correct word in mind.

Omg!!! No more soup!!!
OH, and I am very excited about my tickler. You wanna see those lost pounds and brag to the world. LOL! Thanks for the help.

Omg!!! No more soup!!!
LOL! That is so funny. LOL! I can feel you on that. LOL! I can't stop laughing because I was talking to a friend of mines last night, well actually this morning. In the middle of our conversation, I said "hey, I feel like cheating! I think I want about 3 peanuts." She just busted out laughing. I knew it sounded crazy to her, but I was serious. I ended up eating the last of my egg drop soup. I have never had soup as a midnight snack. Hey, I guess I am moving up. I really want to cheat. This so so sad, but I need FOOD, FOOD I TELL YA!
-
Omg!!! No more soup!!!
Thanks, I think I got it. I am realizing the first few phases of any process is hard, but I eat pretty healthy most of the time and I enjoy soup. I didn't think that only having the cream without anything in it would bother me as much as it did. I just want some hardy soup. I will take some tuna salad, egg salad something that I can eat off a plate.

Omg!!! No more soup!!!
*** side bar question: Why can't I see my tickler? It seems to only give the website, or is it just showing that from my end?
