To add to my last post.... And yes, most Atheists do live by their personal standards. But that's just it, they are their personal standards. There isn't any one group of moral standards that they are supposed to be living by, in order to be an Atheist. If one decides to cheat on an exam, it doesn't affect me whatsoever. Yes, that violates MY standards, but we don't have to share the same standards in order to be Atheists.

I didn't say they weren't doing anything wrong. There are bad people out there, no matter what their personal creed is. But when you get a group of people that are supposed to love their fellow man and whatnot to be in that group, and then one turns around and starts talking about gays and black men as "faggots" and "niggers," it kind of makes an impression. And, good or bad, it makes more of an impression coming from someone is part of a group that is supposed to be loving and caring.

Honestly, I think that if Christians get judged harder than anyone, I think it is because Christianity is supposed to be about loving and accepting your fellow man. There is no such standard in Atheism, just that we believe that there is no higher power. When we Atheists see people that profess to be Christian (and who are we to tell them they aren't really Christians?) but still speak with hate in their hearts, still despise their fellow man, still rape and murder and gay-bash and....well, you get my point. I think you need to try and see it from our point of view. When the loudest voices of a group are the ones that speak hate, what would you think? Yes, I think they are the vast minority, but they are the loudest.

Smoothie King, if you live in the South. To the OP.... Just remember, eventually you'll probably get to the point where you'll have to force yourself to eat because you won't feel hungry. Just think of that, and it'll help you get through your day.

And on the original topic.... I just used regular half & half in my tea. I only have 1-2 cups per day, and I'm struggling to get enough calories in as it is. I don't think it will hurt anything.

Exactly. I'm a scientist. I have to have proof. And in no way is "a book was written about it" proof. books have been written that say aliens landed in Roswell. Books have been written that say the Holocaust never happened. Simply pointing to a book and saying, "Well, it said God created trees and trees exist, so it must be right" goes completely against everything that I am. Some people may be able to do that. I can't.

Some of it is low-quality stuff, though, like the New whey Bullet and the canned drinks. Some of the samples are pretty good, though. One of the better rules to follow when choosing protein is 1) no Calcium caseinate, and 2) no collagenic protein. Both are extremely low quality Proteins. Anyway, Matrix chocolate is a good protein, as is Whey Gourmet's Chocolate Peanut Butter.

I don't do decaf. One thing that you'll find by reading this website is that all doctors and nutritionists have different plans for their patients. One requires a liquid diet pre-surgery, one requires it post-op, one doesn't require it at all. You get my drift. Your nutritionist and surgeon will have a list of things that they will want you to do. It's best to follow their advice.

I would imagine they would be mushies. I don't know why they would be considered full liquids.

Since I've decided to try eating more non-meat protein, I've been buying lots of beans. Right now, I'm trying a new recipe. I chopped up onion, green pepper, garlic, and celery and threw them in a pot with a little olive oil to cook for a little while. Then I put in a carton of chicken stock, about 2 cups of navy beans, a cut-up chicken breast, and a bay leaf. It smells absolutely heavenly in my apartment. I'm planning to add a can of diced tomatos after it's cooked for a while. :biggrin1: I don't know how it will taste, but it sure smells good.

I'll ditto this, too. I have horrible skin. Oily, acne scars, current acne, freckles, you name it.

Think of it this way: Someone was named "Person" by their nutty parents. Now, every human in existance is a person, but only Person is Person. That make sense?

Kinda like how "Dad" is a commonly used name for a specific person's father, but "dad" is another name for anyone's father. The capitalization makes the difference. "Did you do this, Dad?" versus "Did your dad do this?"

I generally do, too, but it just brings out the anal grammar bitch in me. All the gods are gods-with-lower-case-g, but God-with-a-capital-G is the common name for the Christian god, just as Allah is the common name of the Mulim god-with-a-lower-case-g.

God (with a capital G) is the name of the Christian god. A god (with a lower-case g) is by definition a supreme being according to some particular conception or one of several deities presiding over some portion of worldly affairs. There is a difference between the two. Yes, the Christian God is a god, as are Allah and Buddha. Allah is not the Christian God. Allah is a god, but he is the Muslim god. May be semantics, but one god does not equal another god. They may both be gods but they are not both God.

I'm short enough that capri-length regulars look like regular pants that have shrunk. If I go with tall-length capris, I can have regular pants! I went to a Vanity Fair outlet and found PERFECT khakis. So I went back and got the next two sizes down. I'm ALMOST in the middle size. I can fit in them and zip them, but they're a little snugger than I like to wear them (I generally prefer my pants to be a little loose, probably 1/4-1/2 size too large).

Every person with a religion has a god. A god is different from God, though. God is a god, but all gods aren't God. And I'm an Atheist, too, so I'll answer your question, along with Wheetsin. I don't see any difference between a Satanist, a Christian, a Muslim, or a Buddhist. Or any other believer in a higher power, for that matter. They're just people that need to believe that something out there is bigger than them. They aren't WRONG for believing what they believe, I just don't believe with them.

That's another reason why I don't go in Lane Bryant! :biggrin1: I carry my fat more on my belly than on my rear or hips, so if I found some of their pants that would go around my belly, the ass and hips could fit another person in there.

That wasn't what I was trying to say. I was trying to say that the basis of a religion, IMO, is fulfillment of certain needs that a population has. People feel the need to be taken care of, so they invent a caring deity. They feel the need to believe that they will be rewarded for suffering that they've experienced, so they invent heaven or another similar place, depending on the religion. They feel the need to believe that the people that torture and torment them will themselves be tortured and tormented, so they invent hell. If the population is a punishment-driven society, they invent a vengeful deity. Etc, etc, etc.

That's what you believe, though. I bet if you ask certain members of other religions whether their deity is the same as another deity, they'd disagree. It just depends on how they believe.

Very true. Religion, for some people, isn't about comforting. Therefore, they believe that any belief that leads people to feel "comforted" doesn't "work." I think the best way (at least for me) to describe it is that "religion does what it does." If people want to get comfort out of it, that's what they get. If they want fear, they get fear. If they want vengeance, they get vengeance. In that way, I'd say it definitely works.
