February '09 bandsters?
OK! SO! The lady who does the authorizations called me yesterday and said that I needed to fax her my psyche evaluation and once I did that she would send in my packet for authorization. Of course I went straight to Kinkos and faxed it immediately. Please keep for your fingers crossed for me that I will get authorization! She said it will take about two weeks to find out. I know that some of you said that you looked on the insurance website and could see when your authorizations were sent through... where do I look? I looked on my insurance account online and did not see anything about authorizations... well anyways... this is what it all comes down too... Hopefully I will get authorized so I can be a February bandster!!!

February '09 bandsters?
Ok so on friday I got a call that they had completed my packet for insurance. They are submitting it for authorization. They said it will be about two weeks to get the auth. I hope it goes through! Tomorrow night is my sleep study. I have to be there at 9pm and lights are out at 10pm. I am way nervous for that. They said after my auth goes through they will give me a surgery date. Keep your fingers crossed for me that it gets approved!!!

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor will be banded in February
Ya I totally get it about being scared. Just focus on the fact that the reason we have so many pre op tests is to make sure that the surgery will go smoothly. So what appointment was it that they set the date for you? Was it after your pre op testing?

February '09 bandsters?
Ok will do!

NA'ers?
Hi Debbie, ya same with me. I am not sharing about it. My sponsor, my grandsponsor, boyfriend (who is program) and my parents know and that is it. My sponsor will hold my pain medication that way I am not in control of it. I will have two years clean this saturday on the 10th! I live in Simi Valley. I am getting excited and nervous for the surgery. I should be banded in February. Yay! So when you say you are getting back on track what do you mean... did you get another fill? How often do you fill? Do you attend any support groups? Who banded you?
-
To tell or not to tell?!?
I have told my immediate family, my boyfriend, any my boss and that's it. People are too judgemental and if I don't lose according to their standards, I don't want to hear about it. I just told an immediate support group. I can always tell people later if I chose too.

NA'ers?
Hi Debbie thanks for responding. How is the band working for you? How did you handle the pain medication and how did you handle it with your meetings (as in sharing about it?) How long do you have clean?

First appointment scheduled... then what?
Yeah good point about being honest about it. My appointment is friday and i am excited and nervous. :cursing:. Looking back on the scheme of things... the past six months have gone by pretty quickly so i can wait another six months...although i want it right now! do you have any kids? i have a three year old little girl. are you in school?
-
First appointment scheduled... then what?
Hi Greeneyed Lady. Looks like you have a plan... Good for you. It will all be worth it... just the waiting SUCKS!
-
First appointment scheduled... then what?
Ok ya I am young too... 26... and totally healthy except for my weight. I have no other problems whatsoever. Its just that I have been fat my whole life and on and off diets for my whole life. I wish I had the funds to just go and pay cash. A girlfriend of mine did it a year ago and she looks soooo good. I am soooo jealous! Where you from? what do you mean they have to get the wording just right? do you have any suggestions about what i should say in that big packet that they gave me? someone was telling me that i should say i have sleep apnea.
-
First appointment scheduled... then what?
oh crap so i was thinking that once i got my ppo that it would be a breeze from here... i work for medical billing too! but i bill private workers comp insurance companies not group. so do you have sleep apnea or any morbid conditions?
-
First appointment scheduled... then what?
Do you have HMO or PPO? I hope that I don't have to go on a six month waiting period. I have been waiting 7 months to get my PPO because my HMO kept turning me down...

the last supper
Wow... I am feeling for you. That is going to take some will power. Good luck to you! You can do it though. It is going to be SO SO SO worth it. Keep you chin up! I just found a surgeon who is in my network and I attended his seminar and I scheduled my first appointment with him. Can you tell me what I should expect for my first appointment? What happens after that? How long do you think it will be before I get the surgery? Thanks, Kelly

First appointment scheduled... then what?
So I finally found a surgeon who is in my network. I scheduled an appointment to meet him in December. I attended his seminar last month. What will happen at this first appointment and what will happen after? How long will I have to wait until my surgery?

Anthem Blue Cross PPO in Ca Surgeon???
OH wow CONGRATS!!! that is SO cool! Good luck! Would you mind telling me your process? First I attended the seminar, then I just called and they sent me the info packet, and my first appt is Dec 5th. Can you give me an idea of what to expect at that appointment and what you did before and after? How many appoinments did have after that first visit and how long did you have to wait for the actual surgery? I have no idea what I am going to have to do.
