  1. Wow great Job Elizabeth and Brenda I hope to join you all soon. I will get there even if it takes me a while. Just chugging along and discovered a great salad bar by my school
  2. Great post, I do want to say that not all pt's are like that, thank goodness. I loved mine! Till I got in a bad wreck and couldn't excersise for a long time.
  3. I had a hiatal hernia as well. Only thing I can tell diffrent was I was in a lot more pain than others seemed to be. But I did not have any nausea from it and I was told that anything I felt up to doing was ok, except heavy lifting. I looked at it as a bonus, a free surgery
  4. I am with you guys on the bad backs, not fun at all. Mine is one of the primary reasons for really wanting to lose weight. The less pressure on those vertabrae the better.
  5. I will speak for 2 since my aunt doesn't subscribe to this forum but I have only been banded for a few months but she has been for a year and both of us are no problems whatsoever
  6. Grats Josette Don't worry Twoterville isn'tgoing anywhere Now I'm scared, what if I get on the scale in Sept and nada, bupkiss. OMGosh I'd cry. Think positive, think positive Oh and Josette, remember all scales are different, so if doesn't say what you hope remember to take it with a big grain of salt.
  7. I too love ice cream but the richer it is the less I can eat of it, so I buy the gourmet kind and you can get Ben and Jerry's mini containers now that are one serving. Usually a few bites is all I need especially if I do it right after a meal cause I'm not hungry and the richer ice cream won't just go right through
  8. A PB is a power belch. It is the pouch emptying in a vomit like fashion. When the stoma is blocked or plugged things cannot go down, if they can't go down then they come up. PB's are also accompanied by the slimes which is your body producing large amounts of saliva to try to pass whatever it is you swallowed through the stoma.
  9. Wow welcome to all the joiners of this thread For the record I have 200 lbs to lose total and I know I can achieve that goal! A friend had bypass a litte more than a year ago and is now already fighting to keep from gaining her back. She lost 200 lbs in a little less than a year and will spend the rest of her life with an alterred body that may or may not be able to absorb necessary nutrients. It will take me a couple 2-3 years to reach my goal and that is ok. The band isn't for everyone and for some the bypass is a good choice, only you can ultimately decide that. I say try the safer first if it doesn't work well for you, you can always switch to some other wls method later. Dezadoo youa re in week 2 it looks like. Mushies at week 2, while I am not your doctor, I truly believe you are safe to move on to mushies, just always excersise caution, go slow and start with stuff like yogurt and move up to stuff like scrambled eggs and refried beans. As for hunger, you will be hungry till you get restriction Grats on being banded
  10. Thanks LapBandit And Grats Marcy :clap2: Almost halfway through the month and if this excersise hasn't moved the scale at least I will have made a positive effort at breaking my scale addiction
  11. Uggh, I hope so, went to the fair today and had kettle corn and a scoop of ice cream. But we had a lot of fun and did a lot of walking, so maybe i didn't do to much damage, but we have to live a little too
  12. I asked my hubby where the scale was today and he said he didn't remember. When i asked if he was lying to me he said yes, lol. He will not give in, yay :Banane27: So I pulled out the tape measure instead and since I last measured I've lost 2 more inches off of my waist and hips
  13. I find that I lose best at around 1000-1200 cal per day. When I was first banded, it didn't seem possible to eat that much, but you will be able to before long and you will feel so much better. Hang in there
  14. Wahoo! Noticed yesterday morning that I have an extra 3-4 inches between my belly and the steering wheel And LapBandit, it isn't willpower it's my husbands willingness to hide it, lol
  15. Oh My Goodness, where is everyone? I know a lot of you moved into twoterville, but surely I'm not the last one here in tri cities. :omg: It will be at least Sept 1 before I join you as I won't be weighing myself this month :huggie: Almost asked hubby for the scale back but I didn't.
  16. loveulots we are talking about the 10cc band not the 10 cm on this thread the 10cc holds 10cc's the 10cm holds 4cc's i believe. And as for a fill only having restriction for a week, I would say the restriction you felt was probably swelling, I know I swell a lot with each fill and it last for about 4 days then I know how much restriction I really have
  17. Well, it is normally very thick like the consistency of very sour milk, kinda of gloppy. It comes in diffrent flavors, mint and mine is cherry flavored. And yes it is a natural laxative that works a little too well for me sometimes. Thanks goodness I hardly ever have to take it.
  18. I am with you, last time I was 150 I was a size 16! Still fat! However I am using the 150 as a starting point. People who carry large amounts of excess weight build denser bones and more muscle to support carrying the weight so what we look like at 150 after we lose could be very different than we looked when we were there originally. And I go tmy 150 from a height weight chart.
  19. Congrats on your new band! As for advice, sip sip sip. And you may be one of the lucky few who don't experience a lot of swelling. It is normal to feel hungry, and you don't want to reach the "full" feeling the goal is to stop eating before that point. You are on mushies I believe at this point, check out the food section for ideas, remember you can put almost anything into a blender :hungry: And good luck
  20. My Mom swears by yogurt when on any antibiotic. She gets a yeast infection everytime if she doesn't. And thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth I believe. I can only imagine it wasn't fun. I hope you are feeling better soon
  21. I have always backed up easily, I think I may have inherited my Grandfathers issue of having several extra feet of intestine, won't know till the day they have to do a colonoscopy, hehe. That aside I had a bout of extremely soft bowels and took an Immodium AD. Two days later bam totally backed up. Today my body is still emptying out. (I know you all wanted to know that ) But yes Jack it is the texture that is the worst! But I have a hard time with most fiber stuff, gonna try the metamucil cookies, my banded auntie eats one a day and swears by it. Sigh, this too shall pass (pun intended, lol)
  22. I didn't get good resdtriction till my 3rd fill. If you look on the poll thread for the 10cc band you will see that the vast majority takes around 7cc's or more to reach restriction. It took me till 6.5 to feel anything and 7.5 to have decent restriction that I am happy with. And swelling for me went down after about 9-10 days, and I swell a little with each fill that lasts about 4 days. But keep in mind that everyone is so different.
  23. It's not something you would feel if you didn't get enough one day here or there, because that is gonna happen and it's ok. But if you are consistently not getting enough you will experience more hunger and fatigue. Not getting enough protien means your body will burn muscle thereby lowering your metabolism and we don't want that
