  1. Congrats on the weight loss, and the sizes in cloths ! That's a big Plus... Yes it's slow, but your holding your own, so I wouldn't worry to much. Sounds like it will be a good year for you !
  2. Let me ask you something.... Are they all overweight ? or the Majoritey of them Over Weight ? If the answer is YES ! Then Honey, you have the last laugh on them. As you learn to hang in there, and control your own self, they will continue to get bigger, and bigger, as you get smaller, let them "KILL THEMSELVES WITH KINDNESS, as they say" and you will be the one coming out on top. Wait and see, you'll see what I mean. Just keep it together, and leave if you have to. Go shopping or for a walk at a Mall or something. Exercise goes Great with this band, and you will see the difference. But LET THEM ENDULDGE, AND BULDGE.
  3. I have a hypothyroid second to Hashimotto Disease. I still have my Thyroid, but it's not in good shape. I just wanted to let you know that we have a Hypothyroid thread or 2 on this site. Just type in Hypo thyroid Bandsters, and it should come up.
  4. This I have answered many times. When I was first banded, I spread the good word. As a fellow Bandster said above "there's nothing to be ashamed of." how true. You have a vision problem you get glasses, hearing problem maybe a aid. weight problem they want you to diet ! or you are a failure ! I heard that at work, and at home. So when we moved I didn't tell anyone but a waitress in a Restaurant, and she does not crucify me. She likes to see the success. So now I don't tell the world what's my business. Only the world that is on this site.
  5. The Band can work, if you work it with your Dr.'s help. If you don't like it you can always have it removed. If you go the other way, there is know going back ! Everyone that I new that had the bypass is either in the ground, or the latest one is in the Hospital every 2 weeks for a Malabsorption problem. This will be the rest of her life. She had the bypass, and it did not work, then she had stomach stapleing. I wouldn't wish this Cross to carry on anyone. I hope you make up your mind.
  6. NO ! Not at all... Just don't make the foolish mistake again, and stick to what your Surgeon say's.
  7. You can look some of them up on the forum, just scroll down to your state, click on it, then your city and check them out. I use to havea 2 1/2 hr drive one way just for a fill. That will change to 1hour come this Thursday. Follow up care is a key part with the band, because it is maintenance by your surgeon. Check out some Surgeons Near you, Ask about their prices, and what it all covers. It's worth your time.
  8. I can't do the white meat, it has to be the dark meat. It is more moist, and that alone helps. I would try something other then tomatoe Sauce. Low Cal Ranch, and Low Cal Mayo, or :Lo Cal Miracle Whip. Also try only a little at a time to see what you can handle.
  9. I'm 57, and I'll have to say I guess I feel about 35, because if I were to tell you I feel like 21 you wouldn't believe me ! But,,,,,,, I do. . So,,, I guess I'll wait a few more years, and see what 60 feels like, and what I feel like. If your still on this site in 3 years,,, I'll let you know.... Shirley.
  10. Since you allready are bringing up whatever you eat, your swollen on top of the fill. Not Good ! So you should go back to liquids for about 3 days, then mushies for 2 days, then try food. If you don't follow a plan, and you get stuck again. You have to start all over again from scratch. That's the way we do it where I get my fills at.
  11. I lost over 120 lbs. before I had my surgery. "Do to Ins." That first 100 lbs was taken off with time, Muscle Milk, " I wasn't on the Lite yet" and a 1200 calorie a day, High Protein, and Low Carb. diet, it took about 9 months to loose 100 Lbs....
  12. I guess you could call it slacking,,, I'm only 1/2 filled, but trying to stay under 1200 calories Daily. and Pretty much doing so. But I have had surgery wich has kept me out of the Gym ! , and will for a long time. 2 more surgeries are in line. few! So with no working out, and the body retaining water to heal the surgical site. I new there would be a gain, I went to the surgeons office for a 2 week check up, and I about flipped out and fell off the chair... 10Lbs. in 2 weeks ! That shot my blood preasurer rite up. 163/90, the pain was going to do it, but that helped it climb. That night I new it was water because it started coming of, all night long, and hasn't stopped yet. So it will come off. Even though I know it's do to the Surgery. I refuse to make excuses. So I went rite back to the basics, and there I'll stay... Also I'll see my new surgeon Thursday for a fill...
  13. Well, If you have ever Dieted, lost weight, then gained it back over and over. "I see you have" This band can help prevent this. You might fall of the wagon, say,,, if you were to have a unfill for a reason. As soon as you see the scale going up ! You can stop, and get yourself back to the basics without any trouble. "I'll bet you can't do that now, or keep it going in your future..." Then, once filled again, you stay back on track. It really is a great tool. Also, I am addicted to food. certain foods "TRIGGER FOODS" could set me off ! Now ! I don't miss them, and I don't eat them. If I have a chip or two, I can deal with it because of the resistance from the band. The resistance takes away that drive to just sit back and eat, or go out to a Restaurant, and go in to the kitchen, and start cooking. My food bill has dropped allot ! So yep I know what your talking about, and I have lost weight, and it's still coming of. Also remember that yo yo dieting is very dangerous, and will really mess up your Matabilissim. That means more weight gain.....
  14. You was a fast eater in your past... That will change trust me ! I drink with all my meals. Take a bite chew a lot then swallow with a little Water, and for me it goes down. I just make sure that I stay Lower then 1200 calories a day. I go for a fill Thursday, So will see how I do after that. I been at 1.5cc in a 4cc band since October, and I feel like I'm starving half the time. But slow down, and you might want to try that, I don't drink after I eat, because it can come up.
  15. Being able to wear Jeans again. Crossing my Leggs. Thinning out all my cloths that no longer fit, then putting them on the cloting site. Working out in the Gym, and in a Pool. Being able to tigh my shoes...... But I am glad to know, that it is still only going to get better with time. That is something that I have a lot of.
  16. If you drink a COLD Beverage, it will only cause it to tighten up tighter. So keep it Warm.
  17. Yep ! She is correct.... Also I believe that this plays a key factor for her and everyone.. "YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!" and the same goes with quantitey as one said "EVERYTHING IN MODERATION." My Husband and I went out for Soup, and 1/2 sandwich for lunch, and he looked at me and said: "EVERYTHING IN MODERATION, RIGHT ?" I thought I was going to fall out of the Booth ! I said Yep ! That's the way to do it. Were never to OLD to stop learning..... Even he listend and learned, I don't think he wants a Band.... He is dropping weight also. So YAY! for the Hubbie.
  18. Isn't that the truth !
  19. Your last Paragraph may be on to something...
  20. I wish you the best of Health, and Luck with the Band. I hope your old one is still good, then not to much hastle.... Shirley.
  21. I have been on this site for 6 years, and Banded since 10/31/06. I'm doing O.K. ! Have had a few hiccups like being deflated, and gaining the weight back, only to have to start again. I changed Dr.'s believe me. Most of the people that I new are gone. They were on here, did their research, lost weight or claimed that they failed, and then have left.. I wish some of them were still around, I miss them. But,,, it's a whole new bunch to me, and the majoriety of them are good folks. Hope you like it too.
