Losing more than 100lbs Unlikely??
Look me up on post band. I have a story of 1,2,3 separate articles from my journal. It shows the weight Loss. So yes it's possible. It's my History. Read it and enjoy.

I regained almost all of it, because he said he blew the band, and wouldn't touch me. It took a,most 3 years, and one of his students (Now a Dr.) He took me in under his wing, and he knows the Surgeon was a real ---------------! So he felt sorry for me, and found out he was full of B.S. not me. (HE LIED AND SAID i DIDN'T LISTEN TO HIM, AND ONLY ATE Cookies, CAKE, PIES ETC) I went Hugh! If that's true? How did I lose all that weight? Good Question ! They never included my weights, when I transferred my records..... I wonder why??? Also,, the band was not blown, he deflated it, and told me it was blown. Was I pissed... So anyway, I am starting over, and still losing weight, about 2lbs. a week. He is fine with 2-3lbs a week. Hope you enjoyed my journal. There is also 1 and 2 besides 3. if yu didn't see them. Shirley

Finding a local doctor
Google Bariatric Centers Center of Excellence in your state. Look for your Area and find a Dr. That belongs to a Center of Excellence. It also could be a requirement from your Ins. Company. Shirley.

He asked me if chicken breast, or bread was hard to swallow? I said yes. Well,,, that changed everything. He see's a 6lb. loss in 7 weeks. He only want's a pound a week that's it! A pound and a half is to much. So calculateing, surgery probably put weight on or held the same, and the knee is 1/2lb. more, then your original knee. Sooo,, in his eyes I am rite in there. I thought I was going to hit the floor. He told me "This is a very slow go, and you already took out 1/2 of the 50lbs. that you are entitled to for a year!, What else do you want?"Welll???,,, I hate to admit it, but he is very much on target I weighed 231 at surgery, 204 today=27lbs. in 5 months. Maybe under 200lbs. in another month . I just have to keep plugin along, and I guess I will. I'm in this for the long haul. So far I have lost 152lbs. since I started my journey. Shirley... 03/21/07. I'm loseing my patients, I want to see under 200lbs... __________________ Banded 10/31/06 356/231/135 I hope. Surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Genaw

Just adding some info to my journal. As of today I way 210, so I have lost 146Lbs., so far. Still a long way to go. I would like to see about 135; but if I end up settleing for a little more, I'll take it. But I will still try to go lower. I am also in a size 18, some cloths are 16, but that's rare so ,I'm not counting that, just putting it in the computer. On 02/05/07 I go in the Hospital again. This time for a Total Knee Replacement. This is surgery #2 in a 2 part surgery. First was the Lap Band, and it turned out great. I got more thean I bargained for though. So did Dr. Jeffrey Genaw "Genious at work!" He had me on the table from 11:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M., thats a long time. Especially when the band takes about 30 minutes.#1. He froze 1 Lymph Node, pulled it out, Bi-Opseyed it, and it came back normal, "CANCER HE WOULD HAVE CLOSED ME UP" then did the same to the other one, again normal. "Thank God!!!" These were located in the Groin, so you can only imagine the pain. #2. Old Scar Tissue Removal, From Gallbladder, exploratory surgery, and Hernia Repair. #3. Hernia Repair "He dug it out!" "ouch". #4. Last but not least, he put in the Lap Band. "finally"! And I just love it! I've lost 22Lbs since 10/31/06. But I'll take it. I spent the night in the hospital, and went home the next day. I no longer have to take Prevacid, I take Pepcid Complete, and Flintstone Chewables Complete/Choline. So I get my Vitamins, Calcium, and won't have a problem with Acid- Reflex any more. My Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Denniss Kelly told me that unless I lost weight threw surgery, that he would never touch me. To high of a risk, and the knee would never last. That was 10/05. I saw him 11/06 He said "Hy Skinney" I said not yet, but i'm working on it. I asked him about my knee? He said youre gonna get one, youv'e done everything we asked, so lets get some x-rays. He told me the knee was gone, and he doesn't understand how I am even walking? Trust me very carefully! So he said lets pencil in a date. I chose 2 dates, had to see what was gonna be best for the hussband. "time off, etc." I decided on February 5th. 2007. That's 6 day's from today; I'll be glad when it's done. 0 ipb.global.registerReputation( 'rep_post_2957', { app: 'blog', type: 'entry_id', typeid: '2957' }, parseInt('0') ); Share This Entry: ipb.sharelinks.url = "http://www.lapbandtalk.com/blog/225/entry-2957-2nd-surgery/"; ipb.sharelinks.title = "2nd. Jinxing Myself????
You need to sit back and enjoy ! I know that's hard. Read the Forum, go look st the cloths you will eventually be wearing. Make some plans for your future like rewards for yourself for say..... every 25#'s that you lose, and I don't mean food. Point is you have a whole New Life to look forward to.. Don't think Negative about such a positive thing.... What you were asked years ago, is still standard procedure. So don't let it shake you up. Enjoy yourself, make some plans, do plenty of research, (EVEN ON SHAKES), and enjoy the summer.

Throwing Up Black Watery
You need to see your Doctor. Make a list of what you want to tell him # each question, and just give it to him, and tell him you keep forgetting to ask. He'll understand, that happens all the time, and he should write the answers down so you know. Thats what I did, He was very glad that I took the time to bother.

Been denied for weight loss
You need to check with the nurse that takes care of the Ins. at your surgeons place. Also contact your ins. company, and find out your own information. Make, and keep notes. Then compare to what his nurse in ins. said.

Weight loss before the surgery
I lost 45 lbs before surgery. My surgeon then tells me that I have a goal for you in weight loss. So what if I didn't make it? He said then I wouldn't perform surgery on you! So I ask what is the goal (FIGUREING I MUST HAVE MADE IT!) 50 lbs ! But your close, so I guess you tried. Boy I could have kicked him, because he never told me about this Goal.... Doctors !!!!!

no more meat...
Isa: I love Sea food, and Fish. So I will definitely be checking out this blog. As far as Fish I love It BROILED. Take a cookie sheet, spray some Pam on it, then lay your fillets out . Spray on some Olive oil Pam on the Fish, just a light spray. Sprinkle with lemon juice, and Paprika Broil about 15 minutes total. Depends on how much you have. Keep a eye on it, Flip it half way threw. If it flakes your done. I like Tarter Sauce or I make a cucumber dill topping out of yogurt, and Powdered Cucumber Dill Dip, Just mix and chill. Fantastic Taste. Great on the fish, and a good dip for Holidays or Party's Nice job on the recipes  I just read the Walleye/sprouts. I might try that in a week or so Thanks, Shirley.

How long after surgery did you see the lbs start to go down?
I starting losing weight before surgery. The surgeon took me of steroids, when I told him my knee was still killing me (KNEE SHOT) So he took them all away. In about 2 days my Kidneys went back to normal. I lost 30Lbs in 30 days. I never Peed so much in my life! It was terrible. So as I was dieting for 12 months prior to surgery. I saw the physical change happen at 50 Lbs of loss. I guess it depends on how heavy you are to see the difference. By the time I had surgery, I had lost over 100Lbs. by sticking to a 1200 calorie a day diet.

did i make the wrong decision?
Just a tip on the coughing. Since your newly banded, you don't need a hernia, So take a pillow and put it over the incision and hold it there with your hands over the incision also. When you cough, and you feel that pushing out, use the pillow,to push back in. Every time you cough, keep a pillow handy ans use it. This will help prevent a hernia.

It's been almost two years...Where are you now?
If you remember,,, part of the point with the Band or any WLS is making good decisions in eating. Hershey's Syrup, Ice Cream (LO CAL OR NOT) . Pop is not a great idea. Even diet soda can give a beer like belly if you drink enough of it. If your depressed, you need to talk to someone about this. Remember this ai a slow go, so imagine yourself 1 year from now if you do something about it because we average 1-2lbs. a week, or see yourself in 1year if you do nothing. You were banded for a reason, Go back to the basics. Shirley.

did i make the wrong decision?
Yes it will get better as it heels. But,,,, you have to Burp, Hiccup, what ever it takes to let the gas out that they pumped into you. If I kept all that in I would be miserable too.

HELP!! Wondering if anyone else had this pain? Migrating port??
Your surgeon can do a fluoroscope and see exactly what's going on. It's like a x ray machine, but for moving things, and you see it all on the screen. If something is not right they will see it.

The dreaded tummy rash :(
I don't know for sure if the Dr. report helps, but it can't hurt... Since I have been a kid this is what my Doc. told me to do. First it is Bacteria, so you need to wash it away a couple times a day. Use a wash cloth with warm soap, and Water and wash the area, then with warm water rinse it well. Pat dry, do not rub ! Then apply NOXZEMA SKIN CREAM it's for chafed skin. Now this will absorb pretty quick, so if you have to put it on again. Then repeat in the evening. Should be gone in a few days. So keep it up. When it's gone you can dust with a water proof powder so that the sweat doesn't start it up again. Shirley.

I'm starting to hate my band:(
You are either in THE RED ZONE do to swelling from constant throwing up, or you need to see a Dr. do to the burning. Whenever you are throwing up, don't try to eat just drink liquids for a couple of days. If it's from a fill, then liquids for 3 days, mushies for 1 day, then try food. Otherwise you will forever be miserable, and you could even cause that band to slip. You should also go to your Dr. and have it checked under Fluoroscope. That's a xray that shows moving parts, it will also show your fill level, and you will see it on screen, they will know if they are over with the fill. Or if you have acid reflux. If your throat is burning from acid, get some prilosec or omeprazole for the stomach, and stay on shakes, and liquids. You should still be looked at though.
