  1. I only wish you well, I am sorry that you have to go threw this. She found a Hernia and will repair it, that's good, they can cause a lot of pain. I know my surgeon burned the flesh, ans closed the hernia. Best thing he ever did, No mesh or anything. Your Port should be stitched to a muscle, and should not move at all. Just a helpful thought popped in,,,, When you see her the morning of surgery. Tell her if there is anything else wrong, like the tubing, to just replace that too. Because you want this to work for you, like it works for other people. Again,, I wish you well, Shirley.
  2. They have not had the surgery. So,,,, it is safe to tell them, that you have no idea what I can or can not have ! So yes ! ! ! your doing the proper thing.
  3. We were told to buy Pepcid Complete. It Worked ! It's pricey, so go to the website and get a coupon, or try no name brand. I still keep some in the house.
  4. If you have xtra cloths. Put it on the CLOTHING EXCHANGE site on the Forum. I'm sure some people could benefit as they are slowly losing weight. Shirley.
  5. Just so you know, he was a excellent surgeon. Yes he was there for his patients for the Autopsy, they were his patients. So he wanted to see what went wrong. Yes he is the Surgeon with the Flintstone vitamins with choline that work very well. His problem, was he did terrible aftercare. But the Hospital is not going to even give that a thought. Because he is a big boss ! "THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN" referred me to him, because they have the MONOPOLY on this problem. He did beautiful work as a surgeon, but,,, he should have someone else do his aftercare. I lost a lot of weight to. 145lbs. in about 14 months. That's when he messed up. So now I am starting again. You can add on another 60 plus pounds to that if not more. I'll up my ticker when I get weighed on the 25th. So I been around the block too. No it's not on my ticker, but it is journal-ed under topics if you want to read it. You know what you know ! and I know it to, and am always willing to learn. But when all of us patients are taught that "GUM" there has to be some truth to it. Now for me,,, that's enough.
  6. All Dr.'s have rules to follow. Guidelines for you.. That was one of them. If you didn't take him seriously, and he found you in the E.R... He'd ask you if you take him seriously on what he says. Those were cheaters that got caught up in the gum slipping down. I don't really blame the guy. Are you here for help? or are you doing this for a miracle Dream? Because you have to work for success, not cheat your way there. He is Chief Surgeon of Bariatrics at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. When people come in , and are D.O.A., and one of his patients, He does the Autopsy on them. So if your not taking him serious, He will let you know about it, whether you like it or not... He doesn't want you in that shape, so listen to his advice ia all he asks. Otherwise,, go to some other surgeon that will just listen to you talking about I'm not losing weight ! He will go over your plan with you, another Dr. might say It will start back up you'll see. If you want that, then you go to the other surgeon. If you want good surgical Banding, you go to him.
  7. All I can say is :We are all told NO GUM CHEWING AT ALL ! When they end up in E.R.. He'll tell them "IT BETTER NOT BE GUM!" It usually is.. You usually get over a stuck episode, but if you can't? Then he knows it's probably GUM.
  8. That was a great idea. Then when I opened the link "INSTANT FLASHBACK !" Very nice job indeed.
  9. Sounds like I am re living my past ! :musical_note: :musical_note: :musical_note:  Those where the days !!!!!
  10. i was banded on 10/31/06 Lost weight, gained it back, do to the fault of poor aftercare.... I found a new surgeon, they put me under Fluoroscopy, and we are now rolling. I also journal my diet, and exercise. I hope you gave yourself a calorie limit to follow, and stick with it, and if it's to high then yep you can cut back in different foods. Some stuff goes a long way. Also look for another surgeon, and get checked out. They will also give you new guidelines.
  11. I had the same surgeries, and I told him that there was lifting involved, and bending, and I was not ready for that yet ! and I wasn't... He gave me 3 weeks of.
  12. Why don't you start with mashed potatoes, and you will see how it dissolves in your mouth small bites though. Add gravy, cheese sauce whatever you want to try, just remember to take your time. You will soon learn how easy this is. You have no fill ! So don't worry so much. small bites, and chew, chew, chew. Enjoy.
  13. I have a lot of restriction in the Morning. By Afternoon to Evening I am STARVING ! So I will go in to see my surgeon on the 25th. for a fill. That should quiet it all down. but just a tweaking. I don't need much. If this pattern continues for you, then you might need a fill also. I don't know your situation, and I'm not a Doctor. This is just a thought being sent your way. My surgeon likes me to not even think about food for 5-6 hours. How's it working for you?
  14. Protein shakes, and bars. Also stop in a nutrition store, tell them how busy are, and ask if they have protein snacks in a bag or box like a cookie or treat. A couple of pieces might hold you over.
  15. Someone should copy, and send it to Lap Band, and the Realize Band. Ask them is this there new look in advertisement for the Band. INDULDGE! AND SEE IF YOU CAN BULDGE.......
  16. Go for it ! ! ! Get it while you can.... :second:
  17. That was nice of him, and very good for you.
  18. If you have a CATHERINE'S near you. They are a good Store to go in to.
  19. Go into a Ladies Shop, and get fitted. Your doing the rest the rite way, don't stop here.
  20. Make sure you work at getting your Protein in first. Even if you mix a shake and every 10 minutes or whatever, take a swallow or 2, Then you can work on your mushies. Yes have you see your Doc. lately? You can explain this to her.
  21. You don't have to tell her, but with the aches and pains, that you possibly will have. Unless you are good at covering up the pain. She might figure that something is up. If you have to,,, if it's not to bad, then say something like I had a tooth pulled. If it's bad,,,, I would go with the Gallbladder. Who knows,, she might be helpful to you.
  22. I was thinking about the sleeve myself. I know your answer, I read it! But,,,, are you aware that they can fold or roll the stomach out of the way, and stitch it instead of cutting part of it away. I have to admit I have been banded almost 5 yrs., and if I were given that choice by the surgeon, "IF IT WERE NOT REMOVED" I would give that some thought, and research. Just passing that your way. Also can they replace that band with the Lap Band? I wish you Good Health, and Success with what ever you are doing, Shirley.
  23. Kitty : you should see a Endocrinologist for this condition. Tell your PCP to send you to a good one though. It took him less then 6 months to get my level in a normal range. I started out on Synthroid it didn't work for me. They even asked me if I was taking the Medication? It didn't show up in the blood work. When I moved and got a new Dr.. I told her about the situation, and she put me on the generic brand Levothyroxine or something like that. It got into the blood system, but I felt Terrible. So I stopped taking it. I thought she was going to flip ! So I told her why should I take it if I feel so bad? I feel better without it ! That's when I told her I want to see a Endocrinologist, and she agreed. Best move I ever Made. See if your ins. will let you go where you want without a referral if you want. But I would ask her if she knows of a good specialist. You did the band for weight loss, you might as well get this in order too.
  24. When I met with my surgeon, he explained that there will be people in your life that intentionally or unintentionally will set you up for a downfall. My husband did that to me, because he lost his eating partner. After a few stuck episodes for me, and he seen what I had to go threw. He said no more! I will not try to get you to eat the same things that I do. He didn't mean to sabotage me all the way, he just wanted things to stay the way they were. It took a little getting use to it, and my surgeon B*tched him out for it. So he learned. Maybe your Mother needs some time to learn... It might be o.k. for her to do, but not for you ! They need to learn. You can wright me anytime, and I will be glad to talk to you, about what ever you want. Just send me a message, or post it, and I will gladly get back to you. It's over now! It's a new day. We take things 1 day at a time with the band. Hope you have a good one, Shirley.
  25. You don't know how lucky you are that it was not filled. You had to much dry food in the pouch, so eventually it went threw. The other day, I was stuck for about 30 minutes on a whole Kernel of CORN ! That p*ssed me of. I stay away fro m bread, rice, noodles, Pasta???? I would deserve it ! Because that is a every time stuck for me. I am not lecturing O.K..... Just remember the foods that give you a hard time, and you will find yourself going NO WAY! I'm not touching that. Then you don't miss it. Hope you feel better today, Shirley.
