Hey fellow TLBC patients....I got an invite in the mail today to TLBC's Second Annual Holiday Season Open House (15 Dec). I realize that you have to live "close by" to likely go.....so for those of you who do live nearby.....are you going? I'm thinking I probably won't be able to go....it's enough of a trek for me to think it probably wouldn't be wise. But it does sound like fun.....

Oh...don't get me wrong.....I can feel my port alright....(Freaks me out too!) and we know exactly where it is....BUT it "sits" at apparently an odd angle....and so they have great difficulty getting hole...they get the "area"....it "taps taps taps" but they can't get the needle into the actual hole. Go figure. Fluro for me man!

oh, not to worry Mandi....we already KNOW you ARE a freak, regardless!!! Don't kid yourself!

Lila: I think the only reason we had a chat was because he was with me for awhile trying to fill me and he didn't appear to be busy that day. No, they don't do fluoro at the clinic....only at the Scarborough Grace. Nah, you don't need to be the Doc's pet to get it under fluoro (LOL)...it is just that when they try for 2 hrs (Nancy) and don't get you at all (after having driven for 2 hrs to get there (one way!) and then the two docs also have a difficult time getting it....they don't want to mess around with it anymore "blindly".....so they tell you to book a fluoro through Kathy (it is generally a long waiting period though....for instance if I wanted a fill next week - under fluoro- it ain't gonna happen for 3-5 weeks, if I'm lucky). Drs Y and J take turns doing the fluros. After the fluoro the doc told me to tell Kathy to book it as a fluoro next time as well. You don't have to twist my arm.....I'm not going thru the same difficulties as the last couple of times trying to get it at the clinic. I should say though that it isn't really that "they" are doing anything "wrong"....it is merely the angle (apparently) of my port placement that makes it so difficult to reach. Whereas under fluoro it was bada bing/bada boom.

If Mandi "ONEderland" Argon is in them then they ARE skinny jeans!

You'll get thru it Doriana....before you know it the first 2 weeks post op wil be over with. I didn't really feel hungry much for the first few weeks.....so I can't help you out much. Just drink lots and lots and lots ....and a different variety of drinks so it is like you are having more.

Hey Roxanne.....that really doesn't sound good. How long has it been like that? I don't know if Doc Yau told you....but he made a point of telling me that he wants & expects his patients to eat "normal" food.....not to resort to soft foods and drink etc....ya know? That isn't the aim of having the band. You should be able to eat "normally" in terms of type and variety.....but just be satisfied with much less. He really stressed that point. I agree....call Kathy and let her know and see what she suggests. Even thou it might help you lose weight faster....you end up not being better off in the long run...... Keep an eye.

I like the Ensure. To get more protein, I add some of my chocolate GNC brand protein powder ...I also add benefibre. That is what I have some mornings for breakfast

Hi all....I posted this in the general Lounge but then figured I would try here too since nobody has responded!!! Hi Las Vegas people!!! Las Vegans? Las Veganites?? I went to the Nevada thread to post my question but there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity there so thought I'd try my luck here. I'm hoping some of you might have some advice for me. My husband and I are from a small town north of Toronto, Ontario Canada; we are going to go to Vegas in April sometime....we went there 5 yrs ago to get married and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (and, we only spent about $50 in the slot; neither of us are gamblers). Anyways, we want to go back since we had so much fun AND we want to go see Barry Manilow at the Hilton (I adore him and though I've seen him 4 times....the last time was about 22 years ago!). He wasn't playing there 5 yrs ago when we went and because the trip alone tapped us out, we didn't go to any concerts. This time around, we really want to see Barry and perhaps go to another show of some sort. So, my question to you Vegas locals are.....is there ANY way to get tickets at a cheaper price than what is advertised online and at the hotels and thru travel agents etc....? I mean, do you locals have some sort of secret way to get tickets cheaper? LOL. If so, PLEASE share with me your suggestions......you can pm me if you like. Also, if you have any suggestions for seeing the "real" Vegas.....I'm open to them and would greatly appreciate it. We love the strip and certainly want to do that again (& stay on the Strip again) but this time around we also want to get off the strip!!! LOL. Thanks all!!!! Vegas ROCKS!

Thanks guys; appreciate the good thoughts. Cloe: you made Mr Yoda's day....all he can say now is, "Cloe hugged me"....and does a lil' dance! It really doesn't take much to please him, does it?!!! He says it is because he is "starved for affection" WHATEVER!!!!!!! I don't THINK SO!!!!! (he will be NOW!).

I meant to say the "troubles THEY had" not the "troubles I had"!!!.....(other than being poked and prodded for literally 2 hrs with no result).

Hmmmm, I dunno Green....my last fill (Aug) was at the hospital under fluro...and believe you me, when (if) I need another fill....that is what I wil be requesting again. With the troubles I had (not just with the nurses but Drs J and Y also had probs) I am NOT going thru that again unless under fluro. That is odd & disappointing about the lack of contact at TLBC...I haven't experienced that. I would suggest that it is up to you to initiate and be proactive with making contact with Kathy.....otherwise they assume all is A-OK. Drop her an e-mail or give her a call. Also, don't forget....you have every right to ask the tech to take it out and see how much is in there. She is "in" there anyways and it would take her 5 extra seconds!!!!

DEFINITELY after....on the way back. You don't want to get your first fill (or any fill for that matter!) and then go away.....if you experience difficulty, you will be out of luck!!

Rough week at my end. Mother-in-law was rushed to hospital Tues night....pulmonary embolism (sp?). Layman's terms....she has several blood clots in her lungs. It was very scary for awhile. She is still in ICU and will be for awhile yet and likely will be in the hospital for quite a while. Geez, her BP got down to 70/43....I'm no doctor but I do know that isn't good! Anyways, I didn't know much about this so I read up on it online (sometimes too much info is NOT a good thing) and that is how we realized really how serious it was. So, either they don't know that or they do know and weren't telling us. Anyways, we went to see her yesterday (they live 2 hours away) and I know that helped Mr Yoda.....being able to see her....but she sure did look rough and is still on oxygen etc. They think this is likey a complication from having her knee surgery (both knees replaced) 6 weeks ago. Anyways, fingers crossed that things will be okay and she will progress. We know she'll be on blood thinners now for at least 6 months. So, between her and the father-in-law health probs ........never a dull moment. Just thought I'd share.......cross fingers for us.

When they give the fill they should automatically pull it all out after giving it to see how much you have; they don't always do this....so be sure to tell them to. Case in point....when I supposedly had "7" ccs....I only had 2!!! This went on for about 6 weeks.....the first fill (2) went in and the second fill (5) did not but they thought it did....giving me 7....when in actuality all that time I only had 2.....so it was like I was cheated out 6 weeks!!!!
