  1. That reminds me of when Mr. Loriely put a piece of pizza in the blender!!!! hehehehe LMAO! :) :D (psssst.....we still luv ya Mr Loriely!)
  2. I'm like that with rum Wheezy.....I can just get a teeny whiff of it and I wanna hurl. I KNOW it is related to my school trip (at the age of 15) to the Stratford Festival (ie. drunken blast without supervision) wherein I drank enough Rum to fill a pool and thought "mixing" drinks meants 1 tsp of mix (ie. coke) and 3 cups of rum. Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo the horrible memory of it. And the next day I was so naive that I truly thought I had come down with the flu. Soooo not fun.......rum never passed between my lips again!
  3. WHEW...>Mandi....I'm tuckered all out just reading that!!!:notagree
  4. ...yea!!! and "they" say women are fickle!!! HA!!!! Meet my band!
  5. Loriely... Welll...*harumph* LA TE DA!!!! :rolleyes
  6. *chuckles* thank you Cloe..... you know, you have to cater to the lowest intelligence and all (ahem...Mandi!).... *smirk*:nervous
  7. Hey Cloe.. :P
  8. That is toooooooooooooooooo funny!!! ahhhhh he'll soon be in the "realworld" and figure out that he can't live like that for long!! aaaah, to be that naive!!! LOL
  9. Okay...I've been banded for almost 8 months....I've read and read and done lots of reserach....before, during and after. So, I've heard of the dreaded projectile vomit coming from the pouch out of the mouth.....though I figured I was "too good" to ever experience it. *sigh*. This morning ....just a few mins ago actually, I experienced it first hand. All in all, not so bad.....just kind of surprising...helllooooooooo!! My breakfast routine varies.....sometimes I'll have a protein drink, sometimes a bit of cereal, other times nothing and I'll merely take a yogurt or oatmeal to work and have something there upon arrival. So, this morning I decided on cereal.....I thought I felt fine (ie. not too tight to eat). So, I had one (yes, just ONE) tiny spoonful (ie. baby spoon) of cereal and chewed chewed chewed. And I started to feel stuckish....so I thought....okay...odd, but okay...I guess I'm about to slime (that's what it felt like). So, I went to the bathroom sink and slimed a bit and then felt a big pressure/pain and thought "uh oh" ....more slime? Then BAM!!!!!! Projectile cereal (& god knows what else) came flying out!!! HOLY CRAP?!! The good news is that it brought IMMEDIATE relief. The other good news is that it didn't feel like normal vomit (pre-band)....like there was no big gag thing.....it just CAME.....so that was kewl (?). The bad news? I guess really nothing other than that is happened. Not sure why it happened on such a teeny bite....but then again I'm learning not to question the wisdom of my band. Damn glad it happened at home though..... Ironically, once it was "over" I merely sat down and finished my whole bowl of cereal; no problems. Very strange. But at least I'm not longer an "upchuck virgin". Not sure if that is a good thing or not!!!! Just thought I'd share folks!
  10. No worries Deb....most folks won't slime until they have restriction and the majority of people won't have restriction until after a fill (or two)....! You'll have a GREAT time in Mexico....just be sure not to bare your midriff....keep those incisions covered up so they can heal well....ya don't wanna burn 'em with that Mexican sun!! (psssst: I'm sooooooooooo jealous!)
  11. in case some of the newbie Canucks want to enlighten us on their monikers! :canada: :bump: :bump: :bump:
  12. BUMPING!!!! Don't want Lila to forget to post in her lounge!! :bump2:
  13. Okay, my fellow Canucks!!!! :canada: Inquiring (snoopy) minds wanna know.....where will you be on Xmas day and with whom? This is the first time that Mr Yoda and I will be at our place and completely ALONE on the 25th...!!! Yayyyy!!! I'm sooo looking forward to a stress free day with just the two of us!!!! We specifically planned it this way. Of course, to keep the masses happy.....on Boxing Day we will head down to Burlington area to spend the day (the day only mind you.....instead of the usual couple/few days) with Mr Yoda's family. My folks live on the West Coast and besides they will be in a sunnier/warmer climate over the holidays. Though my sister and her family live nearby (Ottawa area), that is not an option for a variety of reasons (if you recall my sister saga!). So......how about you guys?
  14. ahhhhh, the good ol' slimes. They are usually your friend when they come, as it will relieve the onset of any impending pain. Ummmm.....but Deb....keep in mind that a slime "episode" can last awhile......... We got a slime virgin here folks!!!
  15. Nope....rye and ginger is definitely not an Easterner thing (I haven't lived in Ontario all my life, ya know!); I can attest to that! It just isn't as common to the younger folk!! There, I said it!! LOL.... but.....I'm with Green....nothin' beats a good scotch....(a good one, mind you....not the cheap imitation stuff!).
  16. Okay....I am sooooooo completely confused now about how much Cloe has lost (anyone else?). Thank you Mandi!!!! On another note...>Cloe...re. your coming out last night....AWESOME!!!:clap2: I'm so glad it went well and that you had a good time (even with the awkwardness!).
  17. Thanks Cloe (& I truly DO think he is perfect the way he is and do tell him all the time!). Hmmmm Green...thank you....I never even considered that and you may be onto something there.....(I can't believe that I was that selfish that I never thought about that on my own)....thank you.
  18. Thanks Bandiva... You know guys...if nothing else....Mr Yoda's struggle/experience makes me realize (as if I needed any more proof!) that the band really DOES work if you work with it. I mean.....though sometimes I'm up a pound, it always comes off with another extra....you know....so I can honestly say that I have "consistently" been losing over time (obvisouly....by my ticker).....and though it IS a struggle......it doesn't seem to be as much of a struggle for me as for Mr Yoda and yet I see more results....and MOST importantly I am not yo-yoing or gaining uncontrollably.......whereas look at him....he lost 25 and then gained 8 (in 3 weeks).....those days are over for me. He'll be okay...he'll bounce back....especially with all love and support....it is the LEAST I can do for him.....as he has (and always has been) my biggest supporter in all things....I wouldn't be who I am today were it not for him popping into my life.
  19. Hey Bandiva....self-analysis is a good thing and it does sound like you have your head on straight (half the battle). No worries about the tears. There were times (moreso just after I was banded) that my husband and I would be eating dinner (by ourselves....no kids) and I would burts into tears....seemingly for no reason. Poor guy!!! He'd be like...."what, you don't like what I made for supper?" LOL. Invariably the tears would always be a result of me thinking...."dammit...I'm eating this itsy bitsy amount of food and not really eating the kind of food I WANT to eat....what the heck is this....this is ridiculous......." blah blah blah.....Looking back it was because I was still in what I started to call the "mourning" phase.....I was just so damn sad that I couldn't have WHAT I wanted (type and amount).......but, alas....it passed (mostly). I still have some mourning but not that intense....more like, "hey man, I wish I could have....oh yeah, but I can't...that's a good thing". Sorry....all that to say that you aren't alone in your feelings and thoughts!
  20. Hmmmmmmmmmmm I only have 2 more weeks to lose 4 lbs to reach my Xmas goal of 208........dunno if I can make it (especially since I now can't work out for awhile due to my knee) but I'll try....I made an achievable Xmas goal so it will suck if I don't make it!!!! *I can do this/I can do this/I can do this*.... Oh....cooookie!!
  21. That's a great attitude Loriely!!! :xena_banana:
  22. Would that be Oprah's couch made famous by Tom-Tom??~!
  23. Hey Neenagh....she said to wait and see what it is like after the holidays and then they'll decide if physio is a good idea or not. (I hate physio....it was the bane of my existence when I broke my ankle). Cloe...yes....it moved a measly pound!! LOL. Yup, almost half way...but YOU my friend......OMIGAWD....over 80 lbs and you had your surgery way after me!! That is soooo incredibly AWESOME!!!!! I'm soooo afraid that things will be even more of a struggle for me now since the lack of exercise may cause a problem. And.....Mr Yoda keeps gaining....he has gained 8 lbs in 3 weeks!!!!!! I feel sooooooo bad for him. *sigh*. He was doing so well (bandless, of course) and I soooo hope he isn't getting discouraged. I don't want my losses to make him feel bad. I mean, I know they don't and he is thrilled for me but lets face it; it must be frustrating as hell!!!! I'll give him more lovin'!!!
  24. Howdy Blownaway...and yes...welcome to our Canuck Corner. I was done at TLBC...no stitches to remove....they'll go away on their own. Your mom should have a lot of her concerns alleviated after the consult....she probably just doesn't understand the procedure nor how common it is in other countries (civilized countries!). My mom lives on the West Coast (I'm just north of TO) so it made it easier in a way that she is so far away. I didn't tell her beforehand...but only because she was going to be in Europe for a month (my surgery was while she was gone); so I didn't want to tell her before she left so that she wouldn't be fretting about me (I knew she would have). But once she got back, that was the first thing I told her....but before I could give her a chance to say anything or comment I told her all about the procedure and what it was about so that she wouldn't get it mixed up with RNY or anything like that. She was VERY VERY supportive and happy for me. Like Cloe, I keep her posted on my weight loss and she is thrilled for me. Good luck!!
  25. Dsoehner: Welcome and good luck on your upcoming band date!!!
