  1. Welcome to your new life! Personally I have found I can't tolerate milk anymore. I used to love it. I am 4 months and one week out and can eat pretty much anything now. Watching portions is really important, overeating causes serious nausea. I have been fortunate to have never actually thrown up. Not that way for a lot of other folks. I can eat maybe a cup of food total, up from a few ounces at the very beginning. Take things slow, listen to your body, and know that every week there will be improvements and subtle changes. Today is the first day that I am below 200 lbs in over 15 years! Whoo Hoo!

  2. That's awesome! I had mine yesterday morning and am now at home. Smooth sailing for the most part, but I still have a substantial amount of pain from the gas they use to fill up the abdominal cavity to work in. After waiting so long to actually have this operation, it almost feels surreal to be on the other side of the surgery.

I did find that pills don't seem to go down well at this point, I hope this will change in the next 24 hours, as my stomach spasm and nausea meds are all in pill form. I don't have any problem drinking clears. One more day of that and I can start with the thicker liquids - smoothies, protein shakes, etc. Let me know how you feel when you get out!

  3. You know, your stomach is going to heal, the staples won't be holding it together forever. And yes, it is a commitment to a healthier lifestyle. I'll bet all of us who have gotten to this point have the same misgivings and fears, and self doubt. But we've all tried all kinds of things to keep the weight off, and lost and gained the same 35 lbs over and over. At least I have. You have to be at a certain place in your head and your life to even consider this kind of surgery. And you've been there. So the question is, do you have faith in yourself? This gives you a 1 year head start to ditch your habits and make new ones. To leave behind the sugar addiction, the carb addiction and treat those things like they make you sick, instead of giving into the cravings. Pray about it. Do what feels right. Listen to your spirit because you can be strong enough with enough faith. If that's what you want for you.
