  1. Star13 - there is a new state law in NH, SB312 that covers manditory treatment for obesity. My insurance denied us as well. I made them aware of the law and they still denied us. I have friends int the NH legislature and I had my representative and senator as well as the attorney for the NH House of Representatives get involved and then we were approved within 2 hours!!! If you live in NH, you are covered. It went in to effect of 9/14/08.
  2. Short n' Sassy - thank you for those very beautiful words! I have a lump in my throat from reading them. I iwll gladly report back as soon as I can. Soon, you'll need to change your username to "Short, Slim n' Sassy!"
  3. Hi Star13 - My 18 y/o daughter is having it done TOMORROW morning! My wife will be banded next Tuesday (9/30) and I am being banded on 10/29 (need someone healthy to take care of the others!!). Do you live in NH? If so, I can help you I think with the insurance issue.
  4. Hi Liquidbluegal - nice to here from another New Englander. I was in Smithfield RI several weeks ago teaching a music class. As a kid, I used to spend my summers with my aunt in Newport. You've lost amost 27 lbs in 5 weeks? Awesome! How did you fell post-surgery?
  5. Bridgette - thank you for your well wishes! I am a little nervouse about my daughter's surgery tomorrow. I'll be glad when it's over.
  6. Thank you Short n' Sassy, you are a sweetheart!! We were told one of the local papers wants to do a story on us.
  7. Hi PinePal - thank you for the well wishes! My wife, daughter and I are actually having it done at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene (I live one town over from Keene). They have a great new program, and the waiting time os fairly brief. I see you are from Lebanon. I sang in a concert at the Lebanon Opera House on Saturday evening.
  8. My wife, daughter and I are having ours done at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene. They are on their way to becoming a "Center of Excellence" in lap banding. Our surgeon is Dr. Donald Dupuis.
  9. Wow Snowbird, thanks for the reply. It does sound like my situation. It must be much easier for those of us who have others in the family going through the same thing so that they understand. Thanks also for the description of pbing. I had heard the phrase once but had no idea what it was. What is "frothing"? Beautiful day here in NH; the leaves are just starting to change.
  10. thank you for the reply and the answer. Pbing sounds like a whole buncha fun!
  11. I am being banded on October 29th. My daughter is being banded tomorrow morning and my wife on 9/29. I need to wai so that I can be their caregiver until they are on their feet. And then, I can have my surgery. It seems like a long way off but I do get to learn from my daughter and wife's experience.
  12. Hi everyone: I just joined this group today. My 18 y/o daughter is having her lap band surgery tomorrow morning. My wife is having hers done this coming Tuesday and I am scheduled for the end of October. We are all going into the great unknown. We are fortunatre that here in NH, there is a new law that mandates bariatric surgery for treatment or morbid obesity or comorbidity. The law went in to effect this month and we were rejected earlier by our insurance provider but now can have it done thanks to the new law. BTW - what is BP'ing? Thanks everyone.
