Cancelled fill appointmets
Personally, first, I would call the insurance company and tell them what was and has been going on with that Doctors office. Then let them know that you really need to find a place to have your adjustments (fills) that can be trusted and see if they can give you the names of Doctors somewhere close to you and you call them, explain to them what is going on with the other Doctor and see if they will take you as a fill patient. Most likely, they will. If they do take you, I would call that Doctors office and give them a piece of my mind and tell them you have reported them to the insurance company. Who knows, you reporting them may make it to where they have to pay the insurance company back for the visits where you had nothing done. You shouldn't have to be worried with this for any reason at all and I am really sorry you are going through this. Seems to me all they wanted was the money for your procedure and now they are finished. Wonder how many of patients of theirs have gone through the same thing with them? Don't lose hope and keep your chin up.

Frustrated in Tennessee
I think I have done pretty good with not cheating since I have been banded. I won't lie, I have cheated a few times here and there, but nothing bad. I'd stop at a couple bites of chicken salad or a bite of pickle. But today, it has been a totally different story. I have no idea what is going on. I had my first adjustment on Monday this week. I still feel no restriction whatsoever. I have cheated really bad today too. I have had 8 Cookies. I called my surgeons office and they let me make another appointment for another adjustment, but its not until Thursday. I am so disappointed in myself for cheating like this. I don't know why I have let myself do this today. I dont even think it is physical hunger, I'm pretty sure it is all mental. But something happened today and I couldn't stop myself. Its like it wasn't even me eating those cookies. I hate myself for this. What is going on here. I talked to my husband about it and he said its my body trying to gain the weight back. Could this be possible? Is this what is going on? How am I going to make it until my next adjustment? Will I make it without gaining weight by then? I'm about in tears over this. I can't help but to wonder, is the band going to work for me or is it just another lost cause? Someone, please please help me.

wooo whooo, I have made it through my 1st month
Hey guys and gals, I am as of today exactly 1 month post-op. I wont lie, it hasn't been the easiest road I have ever traveled but one of the most rewarding. My first 2 weeks where the hardest. I was on Clear liquids those weeks and seeing my family go on with their hambugers and pizzas etc... well, basically, I wanted to snatched them ballheaded. But this was my decision and I knew what would come along with it when I did it. Along with the band come alot of major changes in my life. I not only had this procedure done, but the same day I had it done was the last day that I had a cigarette. I have been smoke free for an entire month, and giving them up was alot easier than giving up my food, I will tell you that now. So, I am 1 month post-op. I am very proud of myself. I am proud that I have stuck it out thus far and can't wait to see what the next month holds for me. I am 17 pounds lighter. Its not as much as some have lost post-op, but by george, 17 pounds is DAMN GOOD for just 1 month. For all who were banded in August, CONGRATULATIONS WE MADE IT THROUGH OUR FIRST MONTH. YEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWW!!:wink2::tongue::crying:

Just a crazy food question
I'm 1 month out exactly today and am still advised not to eat cereal yet. The Nurse says its the starch in it that will mess with you. Hender your weight loss and all. I know how you feel about it though, I use to eat cereal, pancakes, or oatmeal for breakfast every morning before being banded and I am so ready for my oatmeal, cereal, and pancakes again. Your Doctor may have different guide lines than mine does so check with him/her before doing it.

Tips and Tricks
In my opinion it is also insurance fraud. Why take the chance of lying and being caught. Do you have children? If you do, think of how they will feel if you are caught and have to spend the next X amount of yrs in prision. If doing it for fear of not qualifing due to know co-morbids maybe this will help you. I had my band placed august 18 of this yr. I had no co-morbids at all. No high b/p, so sleep disorders, no diabetes, nothing at all. Other than my weight, I was and still am in perfect health condition. My insurance aprroved me in less than 2 days. I only had to pay out of pocket $500.00. No matter how you try to justify it, it is called stealing and fraud. Don't do something you may one day end up regreting is what my family has installed in me.

gas pain or something more?
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AI honestly don't think it is gas pains that I am experiencing. I have a good friend that is a RN and she said that it may be a gallstone. I am hoping that it is something different, but I am thinking a gallstone also. The RN at my surgeons office also said that there is a chance that it is a gallstone also. If the pain I am having isn't any better by the time I put the kids to bed tonight, I'm going to have my husband to take me to the ER to get checked out and get my mom to watch the kids while I am gone.

how long
I had my first adjustment this Monday (the 15th). I don't feel any restriction yet? I am thinking I need to go back in for another adjustment. How long should I wait before I call to make an appointmet?

It's me again...with yet another question
OK, I had my first fill yesterday. I had 3 1/2cc put in. I was as hungry all day yesterday as I was before my fill. I didn't act on the feelings though. Today, I haven't been hungry at all, so I haven't had anything to eat and it is 1:10CST. Is the band suppose to make it feel like you are never hungry? I thought it was suppose to make you feel full faster and longer, but I didn't know about making you actually feel like you aren't hungry all the time.

Compiling A List...Please Contribute!
My one piece of advice is this....LISTEN TO EVERYTHING YOUR DOCTOR TELLS YOU. You may not like what some of the restrictions are at first, but there is a reason behind them. They know best, that's why you are the patient and they get paid thousands of dollars and the right to be called a Doctor. They don't expect you to be perfect and neither should you. Just do you best, keep your head up high and know that you are doing this for the right reasons and you will be fine.

HELP! I can't quit caffiene!
For me, giving up the caffine was really easy, along with the carbonated drinks, and smoking. I just went cold turkey. The last time I had any of the above mentioned, was about 4 hours before my surgery. I still crave the smokes and caffine but not really all that bad. I know that I gave it up for wonderful reasons and that is what keeps me going.

gas pain or something more?
Hey ya'll. Got a slight problem here. I have been having some pretty bad abdominal pain for about a week now. It isn't constant and stays in 1 place when it comes. It is like below my bread basket and over to the right. I am thinking it is gas pain, but Gas-X isnt helping, walking doesn't help and I have even tried rocking from side to side and back and forth and this isn't working either. When I went for my fill today I spoke to the nurse about it and she (like me) thinks it is nothing more than gas. Any ideas of what I can do to pass this gas. I can't get it out and this pain is driving me nuts. Oh yeah, it hurts more when I get up or have to walk around, if I am sitting or laying down, it doesnt bother me.

First fill down 2day
Ok everyone, I had my first fill today. I have not offically lost 16 pounds (GO ME). I have a 9cc realize band and now I have 3 1/2ccs in it. I was told to give it about a week and if I thought I needed more, to go ahead and call for an appointment. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

going for my 5 week check up--1st fill
Hey Angie, You know, it's weird how all surgeons do the same thing and all have different guidelines. My surgeon says only 3 small meals (im on phase 3 right now and can only have 2-3 ounces per meal) 3 times a day. No snacking between meals. I wonder why they all have such different guidelines when they all do the same exact thing? When I go for my fill 2morrow, I am going to find out why just about everyone else gets to eat the Snacks and I dont. I think eating the small snacks between meals would really help with the mood swings I am having and the hunger that I am always having.

going for my 5 week check up--1st fill
I honestly have tried to follow the doctors instructions, ate the right foods, 6 small meals (healthy in between also) and walked 2-4 miles 3-4 times a week. But I think the problem is portion sizes. I eat almost the same size portions as before surgery. Willpower is not a virtue of mine. I don't think I will notice much after the first two or even maybe three fills, or at least from reading these boards. I guess what I would like is for someone who felt like me, to tell me it does get better! As I have heard others say....if I had willpower to stop when I should, I wouldn't have needed the band. Please tell me it gets better. I do have the realize band. I go for my first fill 2morrow. You get to have 6 small meals a day? Wow, I only get 3 a day.

first fill 2morrow
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&ANote to self: Keep the phone away from mouth and dont read anything from Restless Monkey while drinking. I had a sip of chocolate milk in my mouth and my computer screen just about wore it. I love you guys, you know how to make a person laugh when she needs it. If I remember correctly, the Nurse that is doing my fill said that she would put in between 2ccs and 3ccs just depending on how much I could handle.

first fill 2morrow
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A:smile: ROTFLMAO...where in the world did that come from. The phone in my pouch? You know, it's really hard to type when you are laughing so hard that you actually have tears in your eyes. What I meant to say, will the feeling of fullness last any longer. LOL I can't believe I said that.

first fill 2morrow
Hey all, I have my 1st fill 2morrow afternoon! I am really excited about it to. I just have a few questions I am hoping will be answered before I have to leave. Question # 1. How much restriction (if any) should I be able to feel after having it done? Question # 2. Will the phone finally stay in my pouch longer than what it does now and make me feel fuller longer than I feel fuller now? Question # 3. Should I expect to lose more weight with my first fill? I have already lost 15 pounds without the restriction and am really hoping to lose more with my first fill.

life after being banded
OK, so I was just reading the thread "Things I wont miss about being obese". I thought it would be a neat idea to jot down a few things about the things that have changed in my life since I have become a bandster. I hope others will join me as well in doing this. Things that have changed are: *After 14 pounds lost I can now put on my comfy blue jeans without having to lay on the bed and suck my gut in to zip and button them. *I can now walk to the bus stop with my kids and not get out of breath by the time I reach to middle of the road. *I haven't had the first Asthma attack (knock on wood) *I have quit smoking (haven't had one in 3 weeks and 4 days now) *The big thing that has changed is THE 14 POUNDS I HAVE LOST THAT WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK ON!!!! the list could go on and on and on, but I will stop there. surgery date: August 18, 2008 first fill: September 15, 2008
