  1. 11 days post op here. Doing great just a bit tired but not too bad. Im not really hungry but wish I could chew on something rather than drink it. I go to mushies on Wednesday so atleast I will have a change.
  2. Thanks you guys. I tried the hot tea/coffee and it works well. Also, I have this new thing where I feel like I going to burp and I get a pressure in my chest/throat but nothing comes out. That happens all day and is quite often. I know I am still early out but I hope its not going to last forever. If so I will learn how to deal with it.
  3. Dr. Christopherson in Davenport, IA did my surgery. Yes, I have BCBS PPO plan and I had 10% Co-insurance until I met my yearly out of pocket max so it depends where your going and how much you will have paid out for the year. I would recommend doing the 6 month diet plan with weightwatchers and visit your doc every month for 6 months for weight loss evaluations. I didnt have much pain just the gas. I didnt use the pain meds to much and stopped them day 2. I had surgery at 7 am and was let go at 645 pm. THANK GOD the staff was GREAT!!!
  4. Some Docs give you a card that came with your band and some dont. Check with your doc to see but if they didnt give it to you then you can wear a bracelet.
  5. :thumbup:Marcy in Illinois, I was approved within 7 days. They submitted past 10 years of records and it showed all the fluctuating weights plus I have some heart stuff going on so I guess that why it was approved so quick. I was banded 11/12/08 and feel pretty good. GOOD LUCK
  6. I have a question and Im not sure how to describe the feeling Im getting. First off, when I wake up in the morning I cant drink anything because I FEEL tight and my chest is tight right at my breast bone. I imagine this is from sleeping but will this last forever? Also, my doc told me initially that I should only take in 1 ounce of liquid every 15 minutes. Will I be able to do more in the future? My surgery was November 12, 2008 so Im still LEARNING all my new things I have to do!! Any help would be appreciated. Thank You to all!!
  7. :thumbup:Today is the road to a new chapter in my life. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am and I am the first case. Im very excited and nervous at the same time. I didnt get any sleep last night and my stomach is a bit upset but I hope they give me something at the hospital. I dont know why Im so nervous this time, Ive had many surgeries in the past and havent felt quit like this before. I update as soon as I can. Good luck to any other Bandsters this week.
  8. Congrats!! My surgery is also on Wednesday. Good Luck and let us know how your doing.
  9. Good luck with your upcoming surgery on the 14th. My surgery is set up for November 12 so we will going through the same stages. I have not heard anyone one here talk about the Soy Protein but hopefully someone has used one. Good luck
  10. I got my items. Dont forget the liquid Tylenol, icypops (for the pills you have to crush), 100% juices, and lip balm. I am taking a comfy robe and slippers to the hospital as we will be walking alot and I dont want to MOON anyone!! I also am looking into purchasing a wedge for my bed as it is hard to get in and out after surgery. Good Luck shopping!
  11. Ive only been on my preop diet for 4 days as of today and Im doing ok. My diet isnt bad it is just limited to what you can eat. Last night at the Halloween Fire, it was hard but I did it. Everyone hang in there and we will all be GREAT! Also, I fear waking with no band due to my liver being to large but what ever happens I will deal with it then! GOOD JOB EVERYONE!!
  12. Im being banded November 12th by Dr. Christopherson in Davenport IA. Good luck to all being banded this next week. Im getting closer!!!
  13. Hi, I too will be banded November 12th. This is one day after my sons 3rd Birthday. I am nervous also. I must be here for him and if I dont do this I was told that I would be gone before Im 40. Im going to be 27 on Monday. This is my life saving tool. I hope to hear from you as well.
  14. Good for you, I hope your approval comes quick. Mine took one week and I was happy with that. Keep us posted.
  15. Great job! I hope I will be there someday.
  16. Good luck, I still have until November 12th. I cant give you any advise but I hope all goes well!
  17. I have had several surgeries in the past and sometimes skin so soft from avon will work and sometime use rubbing alcohol. If this doesnt work call the surgery center because I know I have been given packets of stuff also.
  18. My office stated that I will have to carry a card in my wallet at all times. I imagine that the bracelet would just notify them sooner then looking through you purse.
  19. Mine is a high protein low carb diet. 3-4oz protein shakes a day plus meat, dairy, veggies and fruit. This is 14 days total but it is pretty much what I have been doing for the last 6 months. Shouldnt be to bad.
  20. I have lost 27.4 with the 6 month pre-op program. I hope to loose another 10 lbs before my surgery on November 12th. Great Job everyone
  21. Good luck to all November Bandsters. I will be joining Bandland on November 12th. I hope we all do well and hope to keep everyone up to date.
  22. I too have BCBS and was told that they would take the initial weight not the ending weight. I lost weight on the 6 month pre-op supervised diet and I cant believe I got approved! Good luck
  23. If you went to the ER or had any thing done at the hospital they might accept that also. That is what saved me. Good Luck
  24. Congrats!! I will be banded November 12th. You are having your surgery on a very lucky day. My sons birthday and Veterans day. Good Luck!!!!
  25. Good luck to you. I sent my paperwork in Oct 6, approved Oct 13 and surgery scheduled for Nov 12. Feels great to know we have a chance at being happy and healthy doesn't it!!!!
