Congrats to all. I too will be banded on November 12th. This is the day after my sons 3rd Birthday and the day before my nieces 3rd Birthday. I should have a very exciting week. Good luck to all and yes, Im excited and nervous at the same time like most people but all will be well!!!

:thumbup: IM APPROVED !! Sent paperwork in to BCBS IL on 10/06/08 and was approved today 10/13/08. YEAH :wink2:. Surgery date is November 12th, the day after my sons 3rd Birthday. I am so excited but now have a tad bit of nervous feeling knowing its less then a month away!! Everything is going so smooth its kinda scary! I hope things go smooth the rest of the way. :biggrin:

I was told by my surgeons office I could make my own protein drink. Use on packet of No sugar added Carnation Instant Breakfast, 1/4 cup of fat free powdered milk and 8 ounces skim milk. Its good cold or hot!!!!

It says 5 year history. The surgeons office said I should be okay but it may be denied initially and they will fight it out. They said BCBS is BAD for denying it atleast one time. I hope I hear something soon. Time will tell!!!

The flu is going around everywhere. Make sure she has plenty of fluids and if she starts to get really tired and weak she may be getting dehydrated. GOOD luck.

I just turned in the rest of my records to the Surgery Center but I have a question. I have BCBS IL and was told that if I didnt have a BMI of over 40 for the last 5 years that I would be denied. I have the last five years to show weights but I was not above 40 all 5 years. I have been overweight all my life and can prove that but not over 40 BMI. I did the 6 months supervised diet with Weight Watchers and my PCP. Please HELP! I keep telling myself Im so close but I feel that they are going to deny and there will be nothing that I can do. Thank you

I had mine on Monday and it took about 30 minutes. I agree the first cup of barium is thick, then the fizzy poprocks if your having yours with air and then a thin cup of barium. Also, alot of rolling to mix it all up. You cant belch you have to swallow all your air. It was quick and painless. Good luck!!!!

I just was hoping to find someone on here who was banded in Davenport, Iowa at Genesis Center for Bariatric Surgery. Im looking to see how you feel and are doing with your band. I am hoping my insurance will approve fast after my paperwork is turned in around Oct. 2 and hopefully looking in November or December. :embaressed_smile:

I was told the same thing that it could be a trip to the ER and also, they told me that you take in extra air when you chew gum which will fill your pouch with air and then you wont be able to eat what you need to stay full until the next meal. Hope this helps!!

I just met my surgeon for the first time. He reviewed all my records and stated that everything looks great but he wants me to have an Upper GI and labs which is normal. Otherwise, Im just waiting for visit 6 with my PCP on October 2 and they will then submit to the insurance and I wait. Hope I get approved first time but we'll see what happens.:biggrin:

Congrats! You look great and I imagine you feel great as well. I am still in the pre-diet stage but my day will also come and hopefully I look and feel better also. GOOD JOB:thumbup:

My name is Angie and I am new at this so bear with me.:wink_smile: I am 5 1/2 months into my 6 month supervised diet and Dr phase.:thumbup: I have had my group introduction, RN visit, Group Dietician visit, Individual Dietician Visit, Psychologist testing and on Thursday I meet my surgeon Dr. Christopherson. I am having my surgery at the Genesis for Beriatric Surgery Center in Davenport Iowa. I have BC/BS IL and hope that my approval is quick. Well, I will continue to read the post and I will let you all know how my visit with the surgeon goes.
