  1. It's a bummer that I have to start everything over again since I haven't been there for so long. I got some paperwork on Thursday and the lady who I spoke to left a note saying she scheduled me for one of their group meetings which is on June third. I probably won't get a surgery date until like October ? how long did it take for everyone to get their surgery date?
  2. I never seen my ankle bones before either! Lol or my wrist bones. I finally got the paper work today. It's just crappy that I have to do everything all over again. The meetings, meeting up with the nutritionist, the therapist and whatever else. I just really hope it doesn't take as long as it did when I got my lapband. Which I think that was because I was under age when I was going through the process. I was 17. Started the meetings in May or June of 2008. I got my surgery on July 31st 2009. Fingers crossed that this goes faster. And fingers crossed that my insurance will still cover it! I'm sweating bullets over here!!
  3. Oh no! I was a 5 pound baby, but 5 and up man, I could never beat obesity either. I don't know why its so hard besides being a foodie lol. I have hypothyroidism too. And if I stand for too long; my ankles, feet, and legs swell. My lower and in the middle of my back will ache. When I lay down, sometimes my hands fall asleep. It really sucks. I'm scared doing this, but I have to. If I don't, I know my weight will just keep going up, which also scares me
  4. I like the timer idea. Also, it will definitely take time getting used to not chugging water
  5. Because it tricks your mind to think you are eating more when you aren't. Which is cool. I like everyone's replies! How is everyone's water intake? I know when you first get the surgery, you need to sip it. So over a month or so out, can you drink water normally?
  6. Me too, I was overweight and obese my entire life just about. Some people just need the extra help ??‍♀️. I called my surgeons office and I need to get reestablished. They are sending some paper to fill out and send back then they will set me up with my first appointment. I just want to get this started already lol
  7. I will definitely make sure I weigh my food when I get it to make sure I don't get too much that it makes me feel sick and it's basically you have to learn what foods you can eat, right? Does anyone use kids plates, bowls, forks and spoons? I remember back when I had lapband, a lot of people did that
  8. Hey, I was wonder what is the portion size of food you all can eat after bypass? Whether it is 2 months post op or years post op. Do you stick to it even years post op? I dont want to fail with this. I have not had the surgery. I still need to make the appointment to meet up with the surgeon I had that did my past surgery. I was just curious, thanks
  9. I had to have my lapband removed in 2013 due to an abscess from having my band put back in place. Since then I gained all my weight back and an extra 45. Tried losing with weight watchers, then keto and then with regular portion control. I lost weight on each, but never got passed 40 pounds. So, I'm calling to set up an appointment with my surgeon to hopefully get the rny going. Super nervous and good luck!
  10. It could be an infection. Definitely call your doctor
  11. I'm calling my surgeons office on Monday to set up an appointment! I'm not waiting a year or a few months. I'm getting the show on the road. I'm done trying the traditional way. I'm always failing and I'm sick of it. I do wish I did this a few years ago, but I have my support system and now all I need to do is just set up the appointment. I'm scared, but freaking excited at the same time! I can't wait to start my new chapter and my new life. This weight is killing my feet and back. I need to be able to run with my child. So, yeah I can't wait!!
  12. I definitely am thinking about this sooner. I'm so tired of failing. I'm not sure when I will make that initial appointment because I have some things I want to get done first. I may make it sooner since I do want to get the process started. The last time I saw my surgeon, he said I was still a good candidate
  13. The revision surgery was to put my lapband back where it needed to be. It slipped out of place.
  14. Hey everyone! I haven't been on here I'm quite some time. Because of that, no one knows that I used to have the lapband. Which when I had to get the revision surgery, they poked a hole in my stomach which cause me to get an abscess. 2 days after that surgery, I had to get my lapband removed. That was 9 years ago. I gained back everything I lost and right now, I'm 45 pounds over that starting weight. After that scary day, it struggled losing the weight. 2015 I tried weight watchers and joined a gym. I was 10 pounds more than i was when I got the lapband. I lost 42 pounds. My membership ended and I lost my motivation and gained it back! 2018 I tried keto. It works, but it was definitely too restrictive for me and the recipes weren't that get! Last year I was at my highest weight ever (I was 4 pounds above that this year) I tried eating the way we are supposed to be eating. I lost almost 25 pounds with portion control. I slowly lost focus, determination and I was becoming depressed because of someone I really liked. He was just crushing me. I of course gained it all back and like I said, and extra 4 pounds. It sucks! I remember coming on here saying I want to get the surgery, but everyone I told was telling me not to do it and telling me I don't need surgery to just eat healthier. I was told that everyone is scared that they will lose me and if they lose me then they'll probably lose my son. It's definitely a scary thing to think about, but you can lose me with the way I'm going now. SO, I think I said everything I wanted to say before I write what I've about to write and that is, I want to try to lose the weight before going through with surgery. If I can't lose about 85 pounds by this time next year then I will start up the process again. I know some people will tell me "surgery is the easy way out" and I know it's not any easier than losing it on your own. Now, I have a few questions. How much is everyone able to eat at each meal? What are foods you need to avoid? I'm planning on RNY, do you notice your insides being rearranged? How was your recovery?
  15. This photo of me is my most recent photo. I took it on 3//2514. I'm at my original starting weight of 240. That's how much I weighed before going through with the Lap-Band. Icks that the 37-47 pounds that I did lose, almost instantly piled back on once I HAD to have my band removed due to infection. My mom says I haven't been trying, well, yes I have. She just doesn't want me to have surgery. But you guys I think its best for me
  16. It really sucks. I went from 210 last May back to my starting weight of 240. Its so freaking stressful and frustrading. I don't really know what I want to do. I want surgery, then I don't, then I do. I feel like I'm trying to do it on my own, there's way too many temptations inbthis house and too uch junk food. I feel like I try and my mom too...but we give in. I try to watch what I eat but sometimes I just say screw it, what's the point anymore. I feel like its too hard on my own. At least when I had the band I felt full and and didn't early think about foodas much as I do now. I'm constatly thinking about food non stop and I never feel full. I'm scared that one day I'll wake up and I'll be 300 to 400 pounds. I feel like my family is all against my choice of WLS again. Wish they can just say "do whatever you think is best for you, we will support you along the way" I wish :/ makes weight loss that much more stressful when you feel like youdont have the right support from your own family. I wouldn't have gotten weight loss surgery the last timevifvi didn't think ivneed the help.
  17. So, I think I have decided to go through with surgery. So first thing is first, I'm going to set up an appointment with my surgeon, hopefully I can get in some time in April. I'm going to just talk to him about the surgery choices. I'm really thinking about Plication surgery. I d9nt care how long it'll take to get approved as long as its after July. It'd be awesome if I could get approved right off but I know I won't. Plus I just want to talk to him about it and tell him I'm interested in Plication and see what we can do from there. I don't care what my family will say, I'm doing this for myself. Yes I know its very, very scary, I'm scared too, but I don't see myself losing weight any other way, at least I will have a tool to help me half the way.
  18. Sorry for the mispellings, this android tablet lags...
  19. ElizabethAnne-thank you, i will be calling tomorrow
  20. pmartin323 - i had my gallblader out back in 2010 due to having horrible pains and finding out i had galstones. i too, made sure it was my lap band surgeon. what is a plication ? <3 Ky <3- thank you (: wow i know what you mean about the roller coaster of emotional stress, one day youre up then youre down, up and down up and down, it is so annoying! well you should be only weighing yourself once a week or once every two weeks and at the same time everytime you weigh yourself. i weighed myself yesterday only because i felt like i had a bad day on saturday and well apparently not because it said i was weighing in at 215pounds. that made me happy. i actually worked out today, i just actually got up and did it. i started the 30 day shred with jillian michaels. I started drinking hot green tea too and i never thought that i would be one to actually like it. when you get a fill, how do you know it's your sweet spot? i believe i have 6 or 7 cc's in my band so far, i'm leaning more towards the 6cc's. thank you for the little saying (: Ilene62 - that is true. i absolutely do not know what kind of band i have, all i know is that it holds 10cc's and that i was banded in july 2009. i want to make a list of foods to avoid. other than what i have listed, what else should be listed[mainly foods that tend to get stuck]? Foods to Avoid Pasta bread rice processed foods
  21. ElizabethAnne - thank you i know i am depressed and it really does make everything much harder even my cosmetology class i am taking its been 2 years of having depression and it really is not fun. i thought itd get better by now but nope yes, i think it is a very good idea to help me get into the right direction, i feel like i forget easily now as well too, cause i had some things on my mind a few mins ago and completely for got it and, i try and try to remember it but it just makes me more stressed. sometimes i cant sleep because i have stuff on my mind and if i dont write them down i wont remember so ill be up all not writting things on my mind and THAT SUCKS just as much as being depressed The cosmetology class is not offered through a community college thank you!♥ Nikki_ProudAFwife_ I can check that out (: Thanks and i will! Violet953 i am going to be seeing my doctor about the depression issues it's still cold here but i have workout DVD's, workout games and a dance game, and workout plans to get me going oooohhhh i know i can do this, if i was able to lose 12 or so pounds before surgery, i can do it more now, i just need to block out everything and everyone else and focus on me to get there 1shauna1 do they do tests to find out if there is an imbalance? i think coming on here really does help because you have some people who are in the same boat as you and try to help you refocus Miss_A thanks. my port used to bother me, sometimes it still does. like sometimes i get a sharp pain, but only in a great while. its weird. i know i feel ashamed to see my dr too, but i know it has to be done to get me back on track. i too do not like medication, i am on no meds as of now, but if it is going to help me, then why not, if there is a natural way that is just like the medicine that would be even better, but if not either way would be fine i think i'm holding on to everything that i got, this site has a lot of helpful things and inspiring things! (:
  22. 1shauna1- thank you, my doctor told me the last time i was there that if i needed any to let her know , is it bad to think that maybe that maybe what i need? thank you
  23. Thank you, all of you who replied, it made me feel so much better Nikki_ProudAWife_ : thank you. i have fallen off the wagon a very long time ago, i did not quit, but sometimes i am on the urge of it. i try and try, but it does not seem to stick into my head and why? i can make an appointment with both doctors tomorrow-one for primary doctor about stress and depression and what not and the other with my lapband doctor, i wrote down a few things i want to talk to him about and possibly get a fill while i am there. there is a huge fork stuck in the road. i am a skinny person stuck in a bigger person's body who wants out. about the yoga and pilates, i have heard that it helps as well and i did want to try it, can i find videos for that on youtube? thank you! Kishis- that is true! i am going for a walk tomorrow with a couple of friends before seeing a movie. i was thinking about that. what kind of bars? Protein ones? thanks! elcee- hey, yeah those were bad days and i felt hopeless. i think that could be why as well and possibly because maybe i am scared for change? that is not good!!!! i need to change so i can live a long and happy life. i know it is not a magical wand or that getting thin over night is a possibility because i know it is not. i know it takes longer to lose the weight than it is to gain it. i know i need to definitely talk to my lapband doctor about my probs, i could really use a nutricionist, that is where most of my problems are. for breakfast, 3 days in a row i have been having carnation breakfast shake stuff that has like 11-14 grams of protein in it and like 170-180 cals i am trying not to. B-52-it could be a possibility. i feel like i have a lot going on, but i really do not i do not know how to control my mind, like it needs to be cleansed out so i CAN have control. my brother lost all the weight he needed to lose years ago and kept it off the healthy way with out surgery, why can't i have that kind of dedication, determination, motivation, commitment that he had? otherwise, i would not be like i am now. i agree, it is always harder to focus when distracted. i am not trying to point the finger or blame anybody, but i feel that it is hard to lose weight here, even my mom agrees. i need to block out everyone and everthing around me (like Skymoon from youtube did [i believe that is her user name]) i just wish i knew how to do that if it is something else going on then i honestly do not know what it is, i know if i went to bed earlier and got up earlier, i can workout in the morning like i want to because it is so much easier to get it done in the morning asherje i feel like that most of the time lol the closest i think is like a little over an hour away, i do not hear about the support groups anymore. there used to be one that was right in town, i do not know what happened to that i feel the same, i feel like i do not have the support that i should have (does that sound needy?) somebody in my cosmetology class went through a horrible break up and lost around 30+ pounds and she was kind of big, but not really big, but now i feel like the biggest person in class...well i am either way. i am a yo-yo dieter and i wish that it would just stop!! I have the myfitnesspal on my phone and ipod touch, i do not know if it really helps me or not i am going to start using it again and plan my days ahead of time
  24. Yup, did you ever think that I'd say that? Well it is true, I am a major failure, it is all my fault and I am extremely ashamed. I have only lost around 20-22 pounds since getting this surgery and that was 2 and a half years ago (7/31/09)!! The most I have lost was 47 pounds.(I gained most of it back besides the 20-22 pounds) I do not know what happened to me ): but I guess being stressed and depressed does not help at all. I started getting depression back in February of 2010 then along with that I started getting stressed and as each day passed it got worse, I have not seen anyone about it yet, but I am going to talk to my regular doctor about it when I go in to see her again. Since I started getting that, that's when I started to see my weight go back up and each day got more stressfull or depressing, last year was the worst. I have no motivation, I am tired all the time, I come home from my Cosmetology class and I don't feel like working out or anything, I feel stupid...I haven't even seen my LapBand doctor since last October because I am truely embarrassed to go back!! I skip Breakfast and lunch most of the time, sometimes I eat very little, I barely get any liquids in, I am treating my body horribly. I know I have stupid excuses, but sometimes I won't eat in the morning or before class [lunch] is because I feel like I don't have time to eat. I want to go to bed earlier like at 9:30pm or 10pm but I feel like it will never happen, I feel like a night owl and want to stay up half the night so I get up around 9:55/10am and leave for class at 11:30am, Class starts at 12pm. I know it is a part of why I feel dizzy... I think I am anemic again which can be the other part as to why I am feeling dizzy. I do not know what to do anymore, I have regretted the band a few times, but I know it will work if I just treat it the way it is supposed to be treated, but I feel like I have no control over anything and I feel like I do not know how to treat my body, the band and everything the way it is supposed to be. My mind is lost and I can not focus. I do not know what to do, I know start from the begining but for me it sounds a lot harder than it is...I just do not know... I have 100-105 pounds to lose and I honestly do not see it happening, I am going to die alone and depressed...
  25. I think so too, it's helping me and I'm happy about it. I'm eating normal food, I try to find foods that are high in protein but I just don't know how to get up to 90grams of protein. I want to stay at or just below 1500 or 1200 calories. Vanilla Greek yogurt has 22grams of protein in it with 170 cals for one cup. Anyways, Good plan, it really does help and it really does help recording what exercises you do, I just added walking 2 miles [today] for everyday besides Wednesdays and Thursdays. Every 4 weeks, I'll increase it a mile, til' I get to 6 miles. I do not work but I am taking a Cosmetology class [second year] where I'm on my feet and doing something most of the week. I'd just say whenever you have some downtime, do some simple things that will get your heart rate up. I feel that it is working but I think I'm going to do every 5 mins that I am on the computer, watching TV, or doing nothing and then do some kind of exercise for 5 mins, I feel like I will get more out of it because I tried the 10 for 10 yesturday and I didn't feel like I got much out of it. So far so good, sticking to it for 5 days now, and I feel different about how I eat now, like if someone offered something I'll be like "no thanks" or something. I feel more dedicated to it than I ever did. And it's awesome! I know what you mean, a lot of people think I weigh less than I do and I don't even know why. What's the high side of your goal? And how do I get more grams of protein in?? Thanks to all of you!♥
