Looking for a buddy or support!
Good Luck to you Tracy. I had my surgery on 9/12. The first couple of days were rough with the drinking, but 8 days postop I am feeling pretty good. My doctor has me on a full liquid diet for 3 weeks. I see him on monday, so I really don't know what the next phase will be. So far I am very happy with the decision I have made. I started out 5'5 218.9, as of this morning I weighed 206.2! Yeah, I am so excited to finally get the show on the road. My husband is also very supportive. Take good care of yourself, and congratulations on your new journey!

One Week PostOp and off to a Great Start
Hi Rosewood! I too had my surgery on Sept 12th. I am down 12.5 lbs. Your experiences sound very familiar to mine. Isn't it amazing how very little our bodies need these days. I am 78.5 lbs away from goal. My doctor told me that he expected between 5-15lbs the first week. I too am enjoying soups. this morning I ate cream of wheat very thinned out, with my DRs. permission of course. I am on thick liquids for two more weeks. I live in Vegas, so not to far from you. I will be celebrating my 38th bday on the 27th of this month. How exciting for us to have started this journey together! I will send you a pm with my email, so we can also keep in touch and support eachother that way! Good Luck! OBTech 89117

Still on the fence....
I am with ya there. I put on weight having surgeries to have babies, hormone therapies etc etc. So even though this really was not in our budget, guess what I don't care. I know that I will be saving lots of money on dinners out with the hubby and groceries in general. So I decided to be selfish and make it all about me. I am 5'5 and had hit 219. I thought I would die. So like you said, when we get to the 130 range, we will forget what payment? hahahah Good Luck!

Still on the fence....
Hi, I was banded 9/12/08. I was cash pay 15,600. That includes all preop, postop care and fills for 1 year. I am thrilled with my band, even though I am on a liquid diet for 3 weeks. Its all good. I have lost 12 lbs so far. My BMI was 36.5 not enough for insurance, but I was sick and tired of fighting the obesity demons. So if you really want it, then go for it. I am happy just knowing that I will no longer struggle as I have for the last 15 years. But also understand that this is a complete lifestyle change, so you have to be mentally prepared for it. I researched it for about 2 years. I will be 38 in 9 days and I said to myself ENOUGH! I am very happy. Good Luck to you in your decision whatever it may be!

Strange?
Then I'm sure everything is fine. I am 5 days post op today! 12lbs gone forever! I am feeling good. How are you feeling?

Strange?
Are you sure they didn't do it while you were still asleep? The reason I ask you is because I am a scrub nurse, and when we do surgeries, we usually check the patient before we awake them, just in case we have to make any changes!

Okay- I'm Fading
Yes it will. I am 4 days postop. I have found that drinking hot tea really soothes my tummy. I also find that when I feel really gassy, I lay on a bunch of pillows tummy side down, and then I walk around. Sooner or later the gas begins to come out! I also sleep pretty propped up in bed, I find that if I lay flat, I become very uncomfortable. Good Luck! Feel Better Soon!

5 more days! EEK! I'm excited
I am 4 days post op today! I feel really good. I have found that drinking hot tea really soothes my tummy if I start to feel nausea. I am drinking tons of Water, jello, popsicles and an occasional Protein shake. Yesterday I started eating creamed soup! Yummy. That really made a difference as well. My doc put me on thick liquids for 3 weeks! YIKES! But on the up side I am down 11 lbs! So good luck to all and keep up the good work! Obtech 89117

I feel like crap
I was banded on 9/12. The first day I really don't remember much. Today I am 3 days post-op and feeling pretty good. With the exception that I am on a full liquid diet for 3 weeks, meaning anything that can go through a straw! Yesterday I drank my yogurt a bit too fast, and paid for it, for about 4 hours or so. I called my Dr. and he quickly reminded me that I need to drink and eat slow. He said eventually it will become second nature for me. I too am walking to ease the gas pain, and I am also drinking lots of hot tea. On another note I am so excited to announce that I have lost 10lbs allready? I am so excited for things to come! Good Luck to all, and feel better soon!

Anyone Else Not Able To Get All Liquid In?
I was banded on 9/12. I am also experiencing lots of gas pain. I have found when I prop myself up with 4 or 5 pillows the pain subsides. I also have my hubby burp me like a baby and this too seems to help. I called my doc this morning because when I woke up, I didn't feel like I had the surgery. As the day wore on, I started to feel the soreness again! It definitely is better than I expected, and I've lost 5 lbs allready! Good luck to all! Keep up the good work!
