  1. Alright! We went to our family dr today so my dh could get refills on his meds. (blood pressure, etc). To our surprise he knew my dh's surgeon, actually went to med school with him. Family dr asked when we planning on doing the banding - we told him, hoping for end of October. He went ahead and did some blood work, an EKG, and a chest xray. Now we are just waiting for the insurance to come through. We left the dr's office excited. Dh said, "This is really happening! :cursing:
  2. my husband is on some what of a pre opt diet. He is only suppose to have 3 carbs for breakfast. I wasn't there to ask about having eggs. Do any of you have any suggestions for breakfast? What are you eating?
  3. I posted this on another thread - sorry. Does anyone know of a support group near Morris, IL. My husband is having his band done in Decatur, IL but we live in Morris. Does anyone know anyone????
  4. Does anyone know of a support group near Morris, IL???
  5. Well we finally had our second psych eval this morning. The dr almost didn't approve my husband because the hospital that he is going to is 2 1/2 hours away. The dr was insistant that my husband find a regular psych dr. Neither one of us are too fond of psychs. Has anyone else come across this? I am looking for a support group in our area (Morris, IL). The dr did approve him though. For that, I am thankful.
  6. Thanks everyone. 1/2 hour before and 1/2 after seems more reasonable to me. I didn't get to go with him the dietician - next time I will. Thanks again
  7. We are still waiting for my husband's insurance to approve - but he has seen the nutritionist. She has him on a special eating program right now. She also strongly urged him to practice his chewing. That she said was very important. Nothing to be worried about though. Lots of help!
  8. My husband has been told that he needs to practice not drinking during his meals (which we understand why); but how long have you been told to wait? He was told by his dietician to wait 2 hours after eating before he drinks anything. Does that sound right???? By doing this, he'll not get much time to drink the water that he'll need to drink. Suggestions?
  9. Hi, I am not the one being banded, it is my husband. He is the pastor of Ashley Road Baptist Church in Morris, IL. His weight has affected his ministry. He isn't able to visit like he wants to. Our church has been awesome. They have rallied around him. Tonight they all were excited about his Psych appt on Saturday. It has been a blessing to have our church family in our corner. Stick with it, want a blessing you can be to the ladies in your church.
  10. Hi, I am helping my husband prepare for his banding. We are hoping for an October banding. His bmi has been very high for quite awhile. We have been doing research for some time. He is going to a psych this saturday. Hoping that insurance come through quickly. He hurts soooooo much. We as a family are looking forward to this journey that we are enbarking upon. Any help and suggestions are welcomed.
  11. My husband is hoping for an October banding. We have seen the dietican and this weekend sees the Psych - waiting for insurance approval (Medicaid). He has been waiting for this for some time. Put it off a couple of years ago, but really needs it now. His knees hurt sooooooo bad. He is at 415 lbs. His bmi is 60 (the limit) - trying to lose some weight right now. Starting to practice chewing 20 times and not drinking while eating.
  12. My husband is the one that is getting the band done. I am the one that does all the asking and so forth. He is going this Saturday, Aug. 30 for his first psych visit. The dr said that it will take about 2 hours for his test then he will come back for an interview. What should we expect in regards to the test? Any help?
