NP_WIP got a reaction from HeatherE in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
NSV so far this year: I wore my boots first time since early November and they fit big, I'm finally out of the morbidly obese classification and I fit into a size 14 jeans that I have not worn in over 4 years.

Almost 11 weeks. The nurse did tell us if we had any issues to use a stool softener and make sure we are hitting our fluids. Some from my support group do a suppository when things do not move for a while.

I have to admit fitting into a size 14 that I haven't been able to wear since the 90's was quite thrilling and shocking. I am surprised that I keep getting surprised. They were cute too and in the clearance aisle at Target.

Hi KCuster83, sorry to hear you are going through this. When I started birth control after surgery I started with my old one, but notice how nauseous and anxious it made me, two weeks later I decided to try a progestin only, which is night and day. Hopefully you can find something that works better for you.

Congrats on your surgery. I did have the sharp pain when coughing but I have pooped everyday since surgery, I'm a creature of habit so I go every day at the same time, grabted now I have to sit for 30min to make sure all is out.

You seem to be doing better than me with the Protein at 4 days out, my main concern was Water then after week 1 was having protein too.

No issues, even right after surgery they gave me 2 big tylenol for pain, and all my prescriptions were whole even my BP medicine. I had to wait a few weeks to start Vitamins and 30 days to start birth control.

I have just said to those that have mentioned my weight loss that I have a nutritionist, I'm exercising 5x a week, I'm eating high protein/low carb and I'm eating small portions and not drinking, all of which are true. So really you can say you adopted a healthy lifestyle which you did.

My sister and a very close friend, both of whom were also morbidly obese, were extremely hostile and unsupportive about my decision to have surgery. I interpreted it as their being threatened that I was doing something to take control of my life. My relationship with both of them has suffered as a result. They both continue to say they would never want to give up wine and good food and say that it must be awful for me that I can't enjoy eating. (I actually do enjoy eating now.)

I took my kids to the Water park this weekend and we all had a great time there. Guess who was on the slides and joined them on almost all the rides. It was so much fun and my kids were super excited that daddy can finally join the fun. That on its own made the WLS and the whole journey worth it.

I am celebrating not having a cigarette in 24 hours. My goal is to get myself healthy this year. I have my consultation tomorrow and I said I was going to not pick up another cigarette after tomorrow, but I think I’m going to just try to stick it out today too!

NP_WIP got a reaction from Christina B1128 in Comments on your body
Agree everyone seems to want to state their opinion even if unwanted. I have a few of those in my family where if you are overweight are constantly talking about your weight, lack of self-esteem and how much prettier you will be if thinner. Those same people are the ones that if you lose some weight will try to stop you from being too thin and ugly. I just let those comments slide most of the time, but there are times where I need to clarify that their opinion has nothing to do with me and everything to do with the way they view themselves.

Dr. V says that the surgery will make good relationships better and bad relationships worse.
If your husband really has been diagnosed with narcissism (and you're not just using the fun catch phrase lots of people use these days), then I would suggest that you get away while you still can. All of those things that you don't like about him - now - are only going to be amplified. And if he is a narcissist, how do you think his behavior will change when he becomes insecure about you and the changes in your appearance? It's likely going to get real ugly - possibly dangerous for you.

I know 100% how you're feeling. The waiting is the worst. I kept thinking that if I have cancer, all my hard work was for nothing, and I might as well have just skipped the surgery and stayed fat, since I would lose weight with chemo anyway (my mind went to some dark places). BUT....they say gastric tumors are 95% cancer, and yet mine isn't. So we'll hold on to that for you and just think positive that you'll be ok, too. My fingers are crossed for you, and I'm sending you all the good luck, good vibes, and positive thoughts I have. Just think positively. It's out of your hands now, and while I know it's easier said than done, try not to let yourself go to that bad place where you think about all the negative, bad things. You got this.

I have not had any issues post surgery, but prior to it any sugar substitute that had erythritol as the first ingredient will send me to the bathroom asap. If it is listed as the second or third I can tolerate.

Hello, I also used to use MyFitnessPal but since surgery moved to Baritastic and it has been working well, since I concentrate on the Protein and liquid the most. It will take some getting used to once I start tracking other things when in Maintenace, but I love the weight logging feature.

I'm still relatively new to post op, but in 2022 I only had my period at the beginning of the year, after March no period whatsoever. I started spotting a few days before surgery, probably due to the idea of the surgery itself, and 30 days after surgery I had my first period, 14 days later, had my period again. Not sure when I will have another period but I'm glad I actually had one after 9 months without one.

NP_WIP got a reaction from CK77 in after you wake up from surgery
I had surgery before 1pm, and my surgeon was done within 40 min or so. After the surgery they take you to recovery. I may have been opening and closing my eyes before but when I was finally able to speak it was 2:30 according to the clock on the wall, my first question was if it was done because all I remember was being told to move to a table and waking up lol and they will ask you how are you doing, I was nauseous so they provided me with Zofran. She then told me we were waiting for my room.
A few minutes later I was being dragged, which was closer to 3:30pm. I was in and out of sleep for the next 3 hours. Nurses will come in and provide medicine, do labs, vitals etc and you have the compression things on your legs. By 6 I was able to go to the bathroom and grab my phone. My nurse reminded me about the walking so off I went for 15min the first time, then 30 min and so on. You will barely sleep on your stay, they are checking on you constantly, so I just went to walk every time they came into the room since I couldn't remove the compression things by myself.
Honestly, overall, it was easy. We tend to overthink it and over prepare for it, but there is not much you need, you are out within 24hrs and any pain is well controlled with the nurses. I was able to shower the next day, go to pharmacy for my prescriptions and I went to have surgery by myself in a different town and took a flight back home 48hrs later.
Good luck to both of you.

NP_WIP got a reaction from SuziDavis in I'm so cold!!!!
I'm more of the opposite, I used to always be cold prior to surgery, AC could not be lower than 77, but now I put it at 75 to feel slightly cooler. Now outside in the 60s makes me feel cold, while before lower 70s required a cardigan.
