  1. You could try them. They are a little bit different of a texture compared to like striahgt gummy bears. I have had sugar free gummy bears and it was no bueno. There is no way to chew them enough. But I do know the kind you are talking about are a bit easier to chew up. I just haven't had them yet.
  2. oh well that is your reflexes. That won't effect the band. I mean it will probably be the same except your stomach might get more soar now. I mean I know you don't know when you get sick, but try to make sure you are eating like mushy food when that happens. That way you don't have so much pain.
  3. you know it could be because your esophagus is trying to push the food down. That was my theory on why I was getting it when I was hungry. Like my bottom stomach wanted the pouch to give it food you know. I'm not a doctor and haven't heard for sure but thats my most reasonable explanation. Sorry! I hope it stops. :/
  4. I have gotten sick since I've had the surgery and its not that bad. Honestly I'd rather puke than spit up from the band. You just want to be careful because it could cause slipage.
  5. I call those the hungry hiccups. When I'm hungry, thats when it hurts soooo bad. But now I can hiccup normal without it hurting. When I first had the surgery, I had frequent hard hiccups. I get it rarely now and its like one and than its over.
  6. I wouldn't really kill myself lol. I just can't be pregnant. No way. My body isn't even healthy enough for me to get pregnant. I'll take a test and let you know.
  7. God now you guys make me want to kill myself
  8. For the last three day, for Breakfast, i have had a piece of wheat toast with some butter. For some reason, today, I threw up like 2 hours afterward. Not like lap band spit up, but throw up like flu. Than earlier this week I had like half of a piece of pizza around lunch. About an hour after that I threw it up. the difference, with the pizza, I felt sick. With the toast it just happened. Funny thing is, i have been eating normal and those are the only two times I've gotten sick. I haven't felt nauseas at all except with the pizza. For the 2 days before this, I took my birth control midday. today, i have already taken it this morning. BUT I have been on the pill for almost 4 years now. i haven't switched any other medication. I have for the last 2 months been pretty irregular with the times i'm taking my birth control though. Could this have something to do with it? Am I getting sick because of my band? HELP!
  9. i have never heard of this. My doctor used to have us lay down but now that he has us do the x-rays while getting a fill, we stand. I think it's easier for them to get to the port when you are standing up.
  10. I have a cup that I use for work that had a built in straw. I always use it. You just need to pay attention to your stomach and make sure you burp enough so you don't get an air bubble. My doctor never said I couldn't use one either. He told me I shouldn't chew gum because of that reason.
  11. I smoked all through my liquid diet. I think thats how I kept from biting anyone's head off from being so STARVING! I'd have to say, if you think you can control what you eat while you are high, than no problem. I just quit 4 days ago though. So, I mean its up to you. The band will still work if you smoke.
  12. I'm so glad I read these because i am really not eating nearly enough as I should be than. I need to lose 10 pounds in 5 weeks. I'll have to pay attention to that.
  13. Congrats! good to hear you are feeling better.
  14. Depending on the time of day, your body's water fluxuates differently. Most people find they are a lot tighter in the morning. i'm sure the atmospheric pressure effects it too. You'll be ok though. If you keep having problems, call your doctor.
  15. You can go now if you'd like. I'd take it easy though. No stretchin of your stomach quite yet. Just try to walk on the tread mill for a while. i think i started working out after about a week but I am very young. So i healed very fast.
  16. You need to be careful with that. I was getting sick too much beacuse I was too tight and my stomch became swollen shut. It is no joke.
  17. I have also noticed that I am very tight after execising. Not that i have ever tried to eat right after but when i'm running i can feel my stomach tighten. It makes it a little bit harder to drink any water.
  18. See if your doctor will do the x-rays with you when you are getting your fill. You should be able to stay full for quite a while. The size oh my hole between pouch and stomach is a little smaller that a quarter. I've seen people who didn't feel restriction until they had their 7th fill. If you do an x-ray, you'll have better luck finding your sweet spot. REMEMBER there are ways to eat around your band. If you are not eating correctly and exercising the weight will not come off. Its plain and simple. Just keep your chin up and don't let yourself get discouraged. You have taken the right step and just need to get a little more help. :]
  19. Good for your Speck! Better yourself in which ever way you can :] I can't wait to start my couseling and I post frequently on here. It never hurts to have a little extra encouragement.
  20. Oh hey sweetie don't ever say you are wasting time. That's what we are all here for :] To me it sounds like you need a fill. You should be able to eat about 3-4 ounces. Take a one ounce shot glass and compare it while you are eating. If you are hungry before like 4 hours, than you need a fill. Are you drinking with your meals? My doctor told me to not drink anything a half an hour before and after eating. Try that if you haven't already and if you are still getting hungry, that call your doctor for a fill. Make sure you are eating solid food as well. The more liquidy the texture, the faster it will go down. Hope that helps! Good luck!
  21. its not the weight. Its the size. My nutritionist told me that I could fit 3-4 ounces in my pouch. She said to get out a one ouce shot glass and compare my food to that. Just make sure you are eating small pieces and chewing a lot. Remember your eyes are always bigger than your stomach. You should be very careful about spitting up. My band was too tight and ended up swelling shut. I had to be deflated and start again. So make sure that you just chew chew chew. good luck. hope that helps
  22. I feel pretty good today. I have been sleeping like crap, as I'm sure you can all imagine. I am up 2 pounds :[ which is depressing. It is also another stress factor since i have to lose 10 pounds now in 33 days. I do feel my relationship with my boyfriend is a lot better even in 3 days. We are actually enjoying eachothers company like we used to instead of sitting on Pete's couch (an Above the influence commercial). I am still pretty irritable. Sorry if i snap at anyone here. I'm trying my hardest to maintain my composure. My wisdom teeth are coming in which are giving me a massive head ache. But over all, at an emotional stand point, I am doing very well. I feel really good about myself today. I spoke with my mom last night and finally told her that I feel like she would love me less if I ever gained the weight back. She did not take that well. She didn't even deny it. I also spoke with my Grandma and she tried to convice me to leave my boyfriend. For some reason, I now feel like i need to have a break from my family until I can get some things straight in my head. I think my boyfriend has been nothing but moral support. Like I said, when i live at home after the surgery, my mom wouldn't even stop buy ice cream. My boyfriend has gladly started to eat healthy. At least when he's around me :] My family has just filled my head with all these expectations. And you know what, I don't want to live up to their expectations. I want to live up to MY expectations. We'll see how well i do since it is a 3 day weekend :]
  23. Its normal for it to feel painful. Like a tight feeling right? Your body will get used to this and than you should have no problem. Just chill out and don't stress so much about it. As long as you are paying attention to what you are eating and chewing well, you will be fine. Usually women are tighter in the morning as well. My nutritionist suggested having warm things like oatmeal. Once your stomach is irritated you should wait until you feel normal again until you start putting more things in it. If you don't, it could cause you to have more problems. But just breathe. you won't die, i promise :]
  24. The lap band does not make you not addicted to food anymore. It's just like with drugs. No surgery will make your mind not addicted. The lap band is a tool to help you change your life. This means changing your mind. Honestly, I have had the lap band 11 months on Wednesday and I am still addicted to food almost as much as I was before I had the surgery. The difference is, I have the will power to say, no you don't need that now. I mean having the lap band is the first step. If your craving for food is strong enough to call it an addiction than it is all psycalogical. I have found that if you are addicted, you should also be having some kind of counseling. I did notice that i am not as excited to go out and eat anymore. This helps but I am still not done being an emotional eater. I don't do it but the want is still there. In a sense, it helps but you still have to do some psycalogical work as well.
  25. Oh I appologize. I must have heard incorrectly than. Maybe the advocat at UCSD had the surgery out of the country. I just know her we have the same doctor but he is originally fromo Russia. Maybe she had it done there. Who knows. I'll have to look into that next time I go.
