hi guys.. im maria from long island.. i just went to the surgeon today and did all my final signing and stuff like that... i am now awaiting approval from the insurance... so i am pretty sure i will be an August Bandster!!! YAY!!! US!!!!

I just got back from my final meeting with my surgeon..and i am waiting insurance approval!!! He said it should be no longer than a week...and then i will schedule the surgery... I cant belive its here!!!! YUCK they took pictures of me today too... as of today i am down 38 pounds from my first visit to him back in October of 2008 :smile2: :wink2:

Hi.. im very close to surgery, and i want to prepare and buy the vitamins that i will need... I take a multi... but i heard about calcium and Biotin for hair... any advice will be appreciated.. thanks :wink:

WOW... i went today to my first support group meeting.. It was amazing. I brought my mom with me for some support, since my husband couldnt get off. It was amazing.. the results that people had were unreal. Mostly RNY patients... but there were a handful of lapland patients.. Everyone was so nice ..and helpful.. I walked in 95% sure this was right for me..and i walked out 110% sure. I have my psych eval on tuesday and then my final visit with the surgeon and then i will just wait for the date. I am so excited to finally have this burded in my life off my shoulders. To finally be able to enjoy my life not thinking about my weight. Thanks for listening... Maria

i went to my gastro appt today and i am scheduled for an endoscopy on May 26th... now im nervous as hell... should i be... ?? how is it???

i made the decision last year to have the surgery. my husband lost his insurance and i had to wait for his new insurance to kick in... now i am back to pre op testing. In the mean time while waiting for insurance... i joined a gym and lost over 30 lbs.., which is great. My best friend was totally against the surgery and tells me all the tme how glad she is that i am not doing the surgery. Little does she know i have decided to do it. More for the reason of keeping it off and maintaining. I have alot of people around me that will think its a cop out or the easy way out... How are you all handling this???

you guys are great... At the gym this morning i just starred out into the parking lot and just imagined myself not worrying anymore about "weight related" things. Running around with my kids.. focussing on them more than the jiggling. LOL anyway... I came home and made two more consultation appts. Thanks for the boost!!

Your very right... no one can make up my mind... i was just alittle torn. i just got off the phone with the office of the surgeon... I am going for it!!!! I will start making my appts again tomorrow. I called my insurance and they said the approval takes 24 to 72 hours. wish me luck!!!

Hi... i was very active on this site about six months ago.. i started going for all my pre op testing.. my mind was made up .. i was def getting banded. My husband lost his job...and with that we lost medical insurance. I am a stay at home mom of two. SOO instead of just gaining more weight and using this situation as an excuse to get bigger while i waited for new insurance i joined a gym and tried on my own. Since NOvemeber i have lost almost 40lbs. LOW CARB AND HIGH PROTEIN. My husband was hired thank goodness only a month after losing his prior job... but his insurance took 90 days to kick in. I now have insurance again and its the same as before. Im torn... should i continue doing this the "natural" way... or should i just go for it. I am still 250lbs and only five foot ...

i think its to milk the copays and insurance to be honest... On the first visit .. it was a consult and an EKG... the second was an Echo Cardiagram...and the third was a stress test... I dont think i have sleep apnea.. i was just wondering what more things they will try to make me due ... :thumbup:.../ thanks for your response

thanks.. i just called my surgeon and they said you have to get all those tests and appts done first before asking for approval... because it strengthens the case i guess if they find something wrong. OHHH i know being 100 pounds overweight is not enough lol

hi.. i have been going for all my pre "things" for the surgery... I am confused because i am paying all these co pays and still dont have the approval from my insurance... what if i do all this and pay all this money and they deny me!!! should i get my insurance app. first??

ok.. so today i went to my primary care ... he is going to be writing my letter... and i am going for all my blood work on friday. I am making my cardiologist appt tomorrow. YAY... another step closer..
