  1. It's finally our turn! Good luck to everyone who is having surgery next week: cobrien78, Bopper, jmegirl, jennifernc88, knitandpurlsue, mom2two, Tristessa and JuneAct2 :smile2: (if I missed you, send me your info for the spreadsheet)
  2. Everyone's updated Nope, no word from Froggi yet. I pm'd her a couple of days ago and haven't heard back. Hope she's okay!
  3. You're added to the spreadsheet, gentlywind
  4. Don't forget to check out the Notorious Novembers support sub-forum! November 2008 Bandsters - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum We'd love to "see" some new faces over there!
  5. I'm going with Dr. Yenemula at Sparrow. Are you going through Ingham?
  6. I think Froggi is buried in Insurance Hell right now so I made a new version of the spreadsheet and added in the new people. You can find it here: Google Docs - Notorious Novembers Weightloss Log
  7. So far I have my broth and Soup for post op and that's it. I still need to get my chewable Vitamins, gas strips, and a sleep bra (just in case my incisions are too close to my underwire). Oh, I already have a heating pad and I know what I'm going to wear home from the hospital  What about everyone else? What's on your shopping list?
  8. I've been looking into cookbooks, too. A lot of them have very mixed reviews so I am getting mine through my library or through their interlibrary loan program so I can review them before buying
  9. Here's hoping! I hadn't heard that before but that should would a nice "side effect"
  10. I am being banded by Dr. Yenemula on Nov. 25. The Sparrow groups is really great  I have also heard good things about the doctor associated with Ingham.
  11. I am so sorry to hear that Froggi! I hope you are able to talk some sense into them! Keep us posted!!
  12. I have a history of migraines and also get a lot of headaches that don't turn into migraines. Because of this, I take a lot of pain meds. I'm not concerned about my migraine medicine because it is quite small and I also can take an injectable form but for just headaches? What can I take besides Tylenol? I know some people talk about taking liquid Tylenol, esp. right after surgery. I think I'll go through a bottle at a time if that's all I can take! Anyone else have this problem? How have you handled it? I asked the surgeon about it but he wasn't terribly helpful. I may ask one of the clinic doctors for suggestions.
  13. I'm not banded yet but I think this would be very band friendly. We eat it several times during the fall/winter. I cut way back on the bread crumbs (need some or else it will be soupy), use egg beaters, and sometimes use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. Zucchini Lasagna Yield 10 servings Ingredients 4 cups Water 6 cups sliced zucchini (about 3 medium) 1 pound ground round 2 garlic cloves, minced 2 cups low-fat spaghetti sauce (such as Muir Glen Organic) 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon dried basil 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano 2 cups fat-free cottage cheese 1 tablespoon dried parsley 2 large eggs, lightly beaten Cooking spray 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs, divided 1 3/4 cups (3 1/2 ounces) preshredded part-skim mozzarella cheese, divided Preparation Preheat oven to 350°. Bring the water to a boil in a large saucepan. Add zucchini; cook 3 minutes or until crisp-tender. Drain and cool. Place the beef and garlic in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook until browned, stirring to crumble. Stir in the spaghetti sauce, salt, basil, and oregano; cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Combine the cottage cheese, parsley, and eggs in a medium bowl. Arrange zucchini slices in a shallow 3-quart casserole coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle the zucchini with half of the breadcrumbs. Spread half of cottage cheese mixture over breadcrumbs; cover with half of the meat mixture and 1 cup mozzarella. Repeat the layers with the remaining breadcrumbs, cottage cheese mixture, and meat mixture; reserve the remaining mozzarella. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella, and bake an additional 5 minutes or until cheese melts. 14. That's a really good idea! I always forget to print them, though, so I am going to use my delicious account to organize them online. I wouldn't have thought of it if you hadn't said something!
  15. I'm Julie. My husband and I have been together for 7 years this month and married almost 4. We have a 2 year old son. I have always been overweight. I have lost and gained more than I can count. Name a diet and I have done it. I lost almost 50 lbs. 3 years ago when I hit 280 (my highest) but became pregnant 3 months later. I lost the pregnancy weight but, as soon as I stopped breastfeeding, I gained 25 lbs! I've been mulling over the band for 3 years and have finally decided that this is the right time. I don't want my son to grow up to be like me!
  16. Surgery date - November 25 Highest Weight - 280 Preop diet starting weight - TBD Surgery weight (Your weight the day of surgery) - TBD Current weight - 250 Goal weight - 170
  17. I've lost 12 lbs. since attending the information session. I hope to lose another 10 before surgery.
  18. My center requires a four week Optifast diet before surgery.
  19. Well, we're having everyone over the weekend before for my son's birthday so I'm thinking of doing Thanksgiving then. Otherwise, it will be just the three of us on the actual holiday so that's not a big deal.
  20. I just received the call! My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 25 at 10:30  They could have scheduled me a week earlier but in the afternoon. We have a 2 year old so I pushed for an AM appointment. I wanted DH to have time to be with me after surgery before picking up our son from daycare. This is the perfect time for me!! It's 2 days after DS's birthday, 2 days before a holiday so I have a lot of time off and it's during a mini-break for my MBA program. I'm so excited!!! I look forward to getting to know all of the other "Notorious Novembers" :w00t:
  21. Congratulations! She's beautiful!
  22. I'm still pre-op and my husband is 100% supportive but I had to say that I love how your brought your husband around! I am only telling my husband, the two girls who work for me and my boss - they can all keep their mouths shut. No one else needs to know and I know that most of them well not be supportive at all.
  23. I think their slowness comes from the fact that the center operates independently of the surgeon. They all make their own appointments but they share files. My fills will be with the surgeon (he has office hours on Wednesdays) and my support groups and general check-ups will be with the center. Throw in insurance requirements and you have yourself a nice long wait. But who am I to complain? At least my pre-op diet is "only" a month. :crying:
