Plans for Thanksgiving?
I am making turkey salad, just like chicken salad but with canned turkey. I will also have mashed sweet potatoes. Hubby is having ham, rolls and mashed sweet potatoes. He is not much for turkey. We are having a crustless pumpkin pie for dessert. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!

Surgery was 11/14
Good to hear you are home and are able to manage the pain. The walking does help with the gas. Hope it continues to subside so you can sip more liquids. Wishing you the best!

should I
I would do what you are comfortable with. I started the liquids early by doing until noon then until dinner then finally all liquids when the time came. I felt the transition was easier by gradually moving to it. Good luck!

Struggling today
Hope things are getting better now that you are on puree. The food obsession is one of my fears as well. I am hoping that it gets better as time goes on. Of course, I am also worried about what obsession will take its place.

Surgery was 11/14
I had surgery 11/14. I feel pretty good and am now waiting to go home. You have to love laptops and wifi. I will say that the surgery went very well. I was first up at 8am, in recovery 40 minutes later and in my room by 10am. I was up and walking around at 11am. The pain is well managed with the pain pump, hitting the button about once every 40 minutes or so. I have been walking every hour and I think that is keeping the gas pains away. I am enjoying the wonderful clear liquid diet- broth, Jello, apple juice and tea. Small sips, small sips, small sips. The only issue I have is a sore throat from the breathing tube. Hot tea is helping with that. Make room on the loser's bench- I am on my way!

Those packets you add to water
Not bad necessarily, not great either. They do have chemicals and like you said artificial sweetener. I will say they are better than soda but not as good as plain Water. With all that I use them because when I do I drink more water. I like the Celestial Seasonings (order online) ones as the Crystal Lite ones give me a migraine. The Celestial Seasonings are called Zingers to Go and are all natural- sweetened with Stevia. I have found that they all are too kool-aid like if mixed with 8 or 16 ounces of water. I mix them with 32-48 ounces, I get just a hint of the flavor but not enough to be overpowering. I have not experienced acid reflux with any of them.

What kind of PreOp diet are you going to be on?
I have a two week pre-op diet of clear and full liquids...no solid food. I will have 3 Protein shakes a day and then a long list of sugar free, low fat items I can supplement with. S/F Jello, pudding, FF cream Soups, tea, skim milk, etc. It should be interesting since I will be on vacation in Florida for one week of this diet.
