Plans for Thanksgiving?

It's been a little quiet around here so I thought I'd start a new thread. How are my fellow Notorious Novembers planning to handle Thanksgiving? Since most of us are so recently banded, it's important to have a strategy ahead of time!

My husband, toddler, and I are going to my mother's tomorrow. Since I am still on full liquids, I am planning to take some blended Soup with me, and I am also planning to make a sugar-free chocolate pudding pie tonight. That way, there will be at least two things that I can have for lunch. I am also planning to have some of my mother's mashed potatoes and gravy, but I plan to thin the potatoes out with extra milk. Everyone knows about my surgery and has been really supportive, so I don't expect any issues there.

So what's everyone else planning?

Hi Kaitiana

I was banded on 11/21 and am on my pre-op diet until Dec. 12. :tt2: YUCK!! Boost Protein shakes, Jello, clear broth, 1 yogurt a day. On Thanksgiving I am going to have a cherry vanilla light yogurt and chicken broth. Exciting it is not! :cool2:

I have read several of your posts and I applaud you for your decision. Your youngster and husband are very lucky to have you and you are making sure that they will have you for years to come.

Good luck to you and your family. It sounds like you have planned very well for your holiday and that it will be a great one. :):girl_hug::crying:

I am not cooking this year. The first year since we have married that I am not cooking. Our family was invited to go up to on of my hubby so workers house. I wasn't going to go at first, but I think I am going to go. Have some mashed potatos and puree in some turkey. I was told that was ok.

Had a post op appt today and sure enough he said NO turkey LOL ( chewing wise) But puree it and mix it with the mashed tators and some gravey that is ok. Plus i am going to puree some green bean casserole!

LOL

Happy Thanksgiving all!

Keri

I am making turkey salad, just like chicken salad but with canned turkey. I will also have mashed sweet potatoes.

Hubby is having ham, rolls and mashed sweet potatoes. He is not much for turkey.

We are having a crustless pumpkin pie for dessert.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
