Well if finally happened:scared: went to the Doc today and got a date for my band.:clap2: April 17 is the day. My weight today was 411 BMI 55 height 6'1 1/2 tall. Goal is 250lbs. I am so very excited about this I have waited fo long to have a tool that will help me loose the weight and manage it once I get to my goal level. I know that this is going to be a very long road and the only way I can do it is first my trust and faith in God, second with my bride by my side and thirdly with determination and grit. I know it will be a struggle but with the support group and this forum I intend to make it happen and then truly I can say " Gone for Good"

  6. Pre-banded and excited to be getting the band, I looked at both for a very long time, yes its a personal decision but after looking at the facts,I know that this is the right way for me, God bless and good luck with what ever choice you make
  7. Amy: I will keep your daughter in our prayers here in Idaho, I know that God will lay his healing hand upon her and she will get well very soon. I also will be praying for you and your family as you deal with all the issues of travel back and forth
  8. Welcome Susan: I am pre-op, I am hopefully scheduled to meet with my doc tomorrow and set a date for the band. I can tell you a friend told me about this site and I have been on it now somtimes three or four times a day just to see how others are doing. I was very skeptic when I first learned about the band, was set to have the other surgery.(Thank you God) I did not and instead went through all the processes myself. I am self pay because my insurance will not cover this. Even so I am getting it done so I can live longer and walk with my bride and enjoy life as we grow old togeter!!!!!!!!! I hope to hear good things from you in the future...........
  9. hello, let me tell you a little story: I am pre-op currently and just about ready to meet with the surgeon for my day. There is no way I could be doing this right now without a christian brother who told me that he had been praying for me for a long time and about the upcoming surgery. He knew that I did not have the money to do this and probably would not have had the opportunity because of the money. About four weeks ago, while I was in my prayer time, I told God that if I was to have this type of surgery then He would have to show me the way it was going to be done. I told him I loved Him and would follow His directions. The very next morning my wife calls me at work and said that this christian man came into her office and gave her two chks each in the amount of 10,000.00. This was what I needed to have the surgery. My suggestion is just tell your Mom that you have been praying for her for some time and that the money has become available for her to have the surgery and that this is a gift from God. Also I would sit down with her and let her read some of the information that people all over the country are writing here with success story one after another. All I can say is what can you say to a person who extends your life, thank you just doesnt cut it, the only thing that can even come close is I LOVE YOU.
  10. glad to hear you are home and doing better, I am pre op am supposed to have my meeting with the surgeon tomorrow can hardly wait
  11. well heres mine, I am pre-op and I have joined a support group locally, joined this on line group and have a tremendous personal support structure around me. I am eating less and less before I even see the surgeon to help set me in a routine, and all of these fine folk have given mountains of wisdom, now are you willing to climb the mountain and listen to it................
  12. Hello and welcome, I live in Idaho and just wanted to say how glag I am for you. Yes I to found this source through a friend. I an pre-op just waiting for my date to see the doctor hope to have a success story soon to share with you all.

  14. Well my spouse is a pure diamond......she has been at my side through each and every decision. we have been married now 28years and I dont know what I would ever do without her, I explained to her that she is my sole mate and I want to walk hand in hand with her at the park, go on hikes together, just be with her. I know that this surgery changes you on the inside as well as the outside but my bride is the super glue that is going to help me hold this all together as WE walk this path. There are going to be many highs and many lows but I know with her at my side all things are possible. Maybe if you explained this to your spouse and with the help that you are all going to get this will be another tool that helps your walk .
  15. will keep you in prayers amich96, I to have been waiting for my surgery date. I submitted all the paperwork seen all the doctors that need to be seen now just waiting for the date and the band. I hav also 200 over and can hardly wait to have the tool that will help me as I loose the weight. Hang in there and have a grt day, for God holds the future and he already knows the answers.
  16. Well here it is another week has gone by and I still am waiting to hear from the doc as to when I can get my band. It gets hard to stay so motivated towards this issue when times keeps ticking by. I went to all the docs that I needed to, I had them fax in their reports asap to my doc and still not a word. Tomorrow I will call and see what the hang up is, I feel like this is a Dr Laura issue and we should call it the plight of the unbanded////////////
  17. I think we need to snd invisible girl scout cookies to those who think you are boring...................................................
  18. well heres mine, I just want it allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
  19. I know what you mean, being agrivated about insurance but how would you like to have to pay for it yourself. My insurance will not cover my surgery so I have to pay for it myself, that blows...................
  20. OK........here goes. I am 53yrs old and just a person who wants to be around for a little longer. In order to do that the weight must go go go go go go. I was a police officer for all of my adult life(15+yrs) I then went into mens ministry with an organization called promise keepers. From there I went to work in the satellite industry and now I manage a radioshack in Idaho, hence the name shackdog(Bigdog). I enjoy life and want to live part of it as a smaller person. Its like the doc asked me at ny phys eval, when do you remember being at your ideal weight. My answer"Birth", he laughed and I said I hit the ground running at 150lbs.
  21. Hey way to say it photnut, I agree with you and your wisdom, the waiting game is tough. I a preop and still waiting for the surgery date?????? But hearing all the testimonies here is really helping so yes I agree hang in there............
