  1. HERE'S MY CARD TO ALL OF YOU --- http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/45089-albums964-picture28446.jpg I'm almost in week 5 of my surgery. I've lost 19 pounds so far. I had my fill yesterday. They put 2cc's in. I'm so glad I did. I hope you all are doing good!!
  2. i had this! i love that I don't have any scars.
  3. So I'm 4 weeks post op. I'm here at work and went down to the cafeteria cause I left my food at home and had some nachos! about a cup 1/2. OMG! I feel so guity I just have such an addition to junk food. I'm been pretty good otherwise. Tomorrow I'm getting my first fill. I have not been feeling any restriction at all. This is so frustrating. !
  4. So I'm at work, I did something terrible! I ate some nachos! I ate probably about a cup 1/2 worth! I feel so terrible. I'm getting my band filled hopefully tomorrow(2nd doc visit, and they said it would be a possibility) and I was just kinda saying "ah what the hell" . I have not been feeling much restriction at all. I'm just addicted to junk food. This is so harD!
  5. my problem is bread especially sandwiches -- i haven't even got my first fill but I planned on eating 1/4 of a veggie sandwich (i'm a vegetarian) and i ate 2 bites and had a major problem -- i had to throw it up. So lately I've been trying to stay away from breads. I don't have a problem with oatmeal or even wraps -- but bread.. forget about it!
  6. My health insurance company sent me a check recently for $3000 and I was curious why and after I called them they said that I overpaid my deductible since I was in the hospital many times this year and had 2 surgeries including the lapband. They told me that check they sent was mine to keep. It just seems strange, I've never heard of this before. Does this make sense to you?

  8. lolly that's a great idea -- I'll do that next time! kan - my surgeon does not want me eating too much bread, he pretty much told me to find my limit. If I can't handle it, don't eat it. Thanks!
  9. I can totally relate. I'm week 3 into my band. I all the sudden have felt I can eat everything in site. Today I ate a whole 6 inch sandwhich no problem -- oh and some sun chips on top of that!! Bad I know.. I was intending on only eating 1/4 of the sandwhich, but clearly that didn't happen. I don't know when I'm getting my first fill. I'm going to see the doctor on the 15th, so hoepfully then. I lost 15 pounds the first week. I hope I get out of this bandstar hell!:wink2:
  10. So 2 weeks ago I could barely eat a snack cup of Jello, and now I feel no restriction. I got a 6 inch sandwhich with the intention of only eating maybe 1/4 of it at a time. Next thing I knew I was done with the whole sandwhich. Granted I wasn't hungry anymore, but I wasn't full if that makes sense.:wink2: I know that people say that when you get your band they don't put any saline in it, but I was told by my surgeon on Tuesday that they did put a little saline in there even though he didn't specify how much he did put in the band. The surgeon did say that I have lost more weight then normal patients in the time frame. I lost 15 pounds in the first week 1/2. So he thinks I don't need a fill for a while. I'm feeling a little down I havn't lost a pound since then. :wink2: But what I'm worried about is that I did eat a 6inch sandwhich and I didn't have a problem with it. I'm worried that I could possibly expand my stomach. Is that possible?
  11. I had my surgery on November 13th, 2009. I had the SIL as well. I don't think there are lot of patients on here that have had it or know about it since it's pretty new. When I feel my stomach, I do feel that the port is just above the belly button. I believe that is normal. I just followed up with my surgeon and he said everything is fine. I've been feeling some restriction at times, but then other times I feel like I can go to the buffet -- which i won't. When I feel the port itself- - I do to feel it very well. I have not tried drinking that much in one sitting. I don't honestly think it's healthy for your band though. When is your postop appointment?
  12. I'm only 2 weeks out from surgery and I'm currently on the soft foods stage. (My doctor told me to move up to that because of the weightloss and I was ready for it) I have to tell you that what I feel is kind of like a lump in the throat. You know when you feel like you're going to burp but just can't quite get it out? That's kind of what I feel. On 2 occasions I overate or ate the wrong type of food and it just felt like it was stuck. I didnt' feel that I was nausiated but just that it was stuck and I needed to get it out by throwing up. I hope this helps a little.
  13. Hey I was just wondering if you guys that have gotten to or close to your goal weight have gotten excess skin. I've spoken with different people who have had the Lap Band and some have loose skin, and some don't. I just want to know how many of you guys do? I'm still at the beginning of my journey. I have 105 pounds to lose. I'm really worried about the excess skin I'm going to get and that's why I'm hitting the gym at least a couple times a week. I will be going more often in the next month or so. I just wanted to take it easy since I only had the surgery 2 weeks ago. I know it also depends on age and the elasticity of your skin. I'm 25 so I hope that I'm OK. How many of you are dealing with this?
  14. I was banded November 13, 2009. I was fortunate to get the single incision lapband (SILS) and I have only one incision in my belly button. For those who don't understand how it's done here's a youtube animation - Anyway. I was on clear liquids for about 5 days then I was told to skip full liquids and move to puree. I was on puree for a week and now I'm on soft foods. I had my surgery on 11/13/09 and by 11/18/09 I lost 15 pounds and my surgeon was concerned. The Sunday after surgery I had to go to the ER because I was in so much pain and the liquid Loritab they gave me was not working.:cursing: Just so you know I have a high tolerance to pain meds so I have to usually take the stronger stuff. I went to the ER and they gave me 2 shots of Dilauded and 1 shot of Toridol while I was there for the whole 10 hours. We had to wait for the surgeon on call for the Bariatric Surgeon's group to make rounds. He gave me a perscription for percocet and that really helped me get through the pain from the incision and the gas pain. I would have to say the worst part was layind down in bed and then having to sit up. I felt like my incision was going to pop out. I did take GasX for the gas pain and that seemed to help. I could not really do any chores around the house as it really hurt to bend over and stretch my stomach. I took off 10 days of work . I'm at the end of my workweek and I would have to say it was the hardest time. I was just so exhausted:sleep: I have an appointment December 1st to follow up with my surgeon and possibly get my first fill. I'm still at about 15 pounds lost. Here's my youtube video channel that documents my journey so far - YouTube - jlind4023's Channel
  15. So. I have a question for those have gotten to or gotten close to their goal weight... I know there's always an issue with a people having saggy skin and possibly getting plastic surgery, but what about saggy boobs? Have you guys had it so bad that you wanted to or have had a breast lift? I have 42 DD cup size and I know that those are the first things to go when you lose weight and I just want to know what everyone else has gone through. My boobs sag right now which is sad since I"m 25 years old, and I don't even want to know what they look like when I lose 100 pounds.
  16. So.... after taking 10 days off of work I finally went back tonight. I work night shift doing 12 hour shifts. I was ok when I got there. I was confident I would make it cause I even went to the gym yesterday and walked for a half hour on the treadmill. I work as a unit secretary in labor and delivery at the hospital. So I sit a lot. I thought that would be easy. Boy was I wrong.:eek:s Just sitting upright in a chair like that squeezes my incision since I got the SILS(single incision lapband surgery) and my incision is 2 inches in the bellybutton. I guess all those rolls of fat sitting upright causes it to hurt. :woot::cursing: So I took some Tylenol and thought I'd be ok. I wasn't.I even tried working standing up but the damage was done.:crying::crying::crying::thumbup:I worked from 7PM - 2:30AM -- I had to go home I was in so much pain and I took some percocet. Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can comfotable in that position? I work tonight so I need help getting more comfortable fast.
  17. So I thought that it would be a cool idea if you want if we can add each other as friends on facebook. I know it may a lil' confusing if you have a lot of friends from high school, college, work, etc. So what I do is I organize my list of friends by groups. I'm personally going to add a specific group for friends from Lapbandtalk.com and youtube. So if you want to be friend add me. Feel free to post your facebook profile link on here if you want. http://www.facebook.com/jessica.kolman?ref=profile
  18. So I'm planning on going back to the gym sometime, but I'm obviously planning on healing first. I was just curious - how soon did you guys wait till you went to the gym and worked out?
  19. Hey guys. I made a video to let you guys know how I'm doing. I've recently been switched over to mushies!!! Yay!! So this video update of what I'm eating and whatnot. Enjoy! YouTube - LapBand Day 6 - So far what I'm eating - 11/19/09

  21. I got banded on November 13th as well. I had the single incision lap band so the one incision is in my belly button. Man does it hurt. It really hurts when I bend over or bend up, like getting out of bed or something. More recently I've had some left sided pain around the port area. I've also had pain in my left shoulder collar bone area. I was originally taking liquid loritab for the pain but I ended up in the ER over the weekend cause I was screaming in pain so they gave me percocet 10mg and that has helped a lot. I'm planning on going back to work this monday. Thankfully I work as a secretary so not a lot of pushing pulling or lifting. Here's a closeup of my incision the day of surgery -- http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/45089-albums4509-picture26758.jpg And here's the incision 5 days after -- it sure has bruised a lot. --- http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/45089-albums4540-picture26947.jpg
