Just because
thanks all for the kind words.. I went to the doc yesterday and he said I was doing fine... although only 6 days out..I thought he maybe would take the drain out.. I didn't want to go thru this funeral with this nuisance hanging around my belly but he said, not yet.. lets do it friday..just to be safe.. Wel, I trust him, he knows best but so disapointing.. I can start full liquids now, creamed Soups and yogurt.. much of a relief.. I try to get my Protein shakes in but so sick of it already.. wish I can put a banana in it .. but I better not yet,, I have come to far to have any problems.. Tiff, you are really an inspiration to me... keep up the good work...

Just because
Tiff, you look awesome... I got sleeved last tuesday. the worst part was the nausea.. I haven't even had to take any pain meds.. I got home from the hospital at 8pm and at 4:30 in the morning I got that dreaded call that no one should ever get... My younger brother passed away suddenly.. I am so worried about getting thru this along with following the rules of post op correctly... Yesterday, I only had one protein shake because I have so upset.. I don't want to sabatage my recovery after all that I have been thru to get this surgery.. Wish me luck... Right now my mind is all over the place,,, thanks for listening...

Getting sleeved tomorrow! (1/4/2011)
Hey, good luck on your surgery tomorrow.... mine is Jan 11th... I've noticed that most of you that have had the sleeve.. have also started out with the band.. I did not do well with the band as far as loosing like the 1-2 lbs per week that we were suppose to... believe me, I followed the rules too !! the only thing I could have improved on was the exercise.. I should have done more... Now that you have the sleeve, do you find it easier to loose than the band ?? just curious..
-
Ok here I go...me at 168
You do look great !! you should be very proud of yourself.... My surgery is Jan 11th ... wish me luck !! hope I'm making the right choice in taking the band out and doing the sleeve.. In reading your forum..I really haven't seen many complications or anyone sorry for having this surgery.. So, I am going to take the plunge !! thanks guys for all your support.. Have a healthy and happy holiday...

Friggin denied again!!
I don't know where you are from but there is an appeal process to go thru and each appeal is reviewed by a different doc.. get your doctor to send in a very strong letter to stress all of your co-morbitities.. if that doesn't help, go to your State Insurance Department and se if they have an appeal process you can go thru...

Coffee - how I miss thee
thank for the info... I have never liked coffee, however, in the last 4-6 months I have enjoyed a cup in the morning with the flavored no fat creamer.. no sugar.. I guess I could give it up if I need to but I do enjoy it.. I don't even think it gives me energy like some people say that they can't get on with the day until they cave their coffee... Tyf... you are an inspirsation to us all... thanks for being yoiu.. shar

Met a guy three weeks before my surgery...Crap!
Ronnie, why in the world would he freak out about it ?? I don't understand it unless he was afraid for you to have the surgery.. I say, he will either think about it and come crawling back with a better understanding of the surgery or as they others say, you will definately have your pick later on.. wait until springtime.. this will be all behind you and you will be starting to get a new wardrobe and a new guy (s).. you really don't need any negativity in your life at this time.. this was a big decision to make and you made the right one.. take one day at a time.. it'll all work out.. shar

Since my clinic visit 1 week ago, I have lost 3 lbs on the NB diet..Already I am sick of the veg;s and Beans. Should I continue loosing or should I stop ? I know as soon as I get into the phase 2 I will gain it back again but if I really try, I will loose the 9 lbs before the visit with Posner and then he will tell me that I won't qualify for the surgery. The nurse practitioner told me to do my best... what would you do if you were in my shoes ?? shar

Any buffalo new yorkers
thanks .. I had my first clinic visit today..I was alittle discouraged because they said that I bearly meet criteria for surgery at this point.. I need to loose 9 lbs and that will put me out of perameters for the surgery. I have my visit with Posner in 6 weeks along with the nutritionist because she wasn't there today. The people there were very nice and efficient.. although they still did not have my psych eval in the case. They said that it must be in the filing pile to be done !! keep up the good work...

36 lbs is pretty impressive since June...only 2 months ago. Sounds as if you are doing great. Have you already had an adjustment in the port ? Is that why its still tender ? Anyway, glad you are doing well. I kind of hope that the doctor suggests the lap band for me.. I know its the same amount of life change and hard work after surgery, but this seems so much safer w/o the cutting and redirecting and all. Thanks for the information.. Maybe I will see you guys in Del Park one of these saturday mornings. shar

thanks Judy for the reply... I already had the colonoscopy last august but the sleep study has not been done since about 5 years ago.. I guess they will let me know tomorrow what I need to do.. Its only been since april but seems like forever that this process is taking. I need to go for some bloodwork anyway in early Sept for my colesterolso maybe the urine test will also be ordered.. I will check with my primary before I go. thanks shar

Judy, for Lap-Band surgery, are there any tests that have to be done prior to the procedure different from the Lap-Bypass ?? I think I have most of it done but trying to speed up the process and not to run into too many delays. I really want this done by the end of the year .. thanks shar
