Your surgery did work. By your own description, you are not working. You must weigh, measure, and log your intake and follow your nutritionist's and doctor's direction. The surgery does not work on its own, it takes the patient's efforts to make it work.
I recommend that you read some books about WLS and get some bariatric cookbooks and meal-planning books..or you can do your own thing and continue to complain that the surgery is not working.

I agree. WLS is not for everyone, perhaps not even for most.
I further agree that with or without surgery, losing weight is a matter of calories in vs. calories out.
WLS is not magic. It requires us to follow a well defined plan for the rest of our lives, lest we not lose enough or even gain the weight back. It requires commitment. It's not sold as easy, at least not to me.
How did you imagine all this would play out for you? Literally, what did you expect you needed to do and what the surgery would do?

I get that you are frustrated and perhaps angry.
Honestly, it's not too late for you, unless you give up. Your surgery is still there. It will make what you still need to do easier.
From what I see you have received good advice: Follow your plan to the letter, weigh your food, log your food, don't drink with meals. These things are what will get you losing weight.
These are also the things you refuse to do.
It seems you would rather quit and blame the surgery. As with all things, it's your life, it's your choice.
    Good luck,

The surgery is not bullshit. You just weren’t/aren’t in the right frame of mind to lose weight right now. Like others have said, it is a tool. If you are not disciplined enough to use the tool you will not get the results you want. Don’t get mad at the surgery/process/surgeon……be mad with yourself.
I truly hope you can figure out how to use the this tool to get the results you want….it is not magic after all. You actually have to put in the work.

It sure doesn't sound like you had realistic expectations of WLS, and I'm wondering how you were approved for it.
Instead of cursing your surgery, though, how about investing in some bariatric therapy to help you develop some new attitudes and strategies that will make you happier as you do the hard work we all need to do to lose weight?

Hi everyone new here. Not sure the etiquette here or what. I'll just start and if I need to post to certain areas, kindly point the way. I had my sleeve done 11/29/21. So far so good. You go through so many emotions I wasn't expecting. Kind of makes you take a step back and think a min.
I've been really working on pace. I've always been a fast eater. Yesterday was feeling good and picked up my bottle to swig some Water. For a second I forgot, but I caught myself and slowed my roll. The mouthful I had was 3 swallow very carefully:)
No one around you gets this. And it's do hard to explain. It's a journey I am seeing and I'm only at day 3....I'm excited and happy for the first time in a long time. This is for me and no one else.

    Hi
Sleeve done 11/29/21. Doing pretty well in my opinion. They don't really prepare you for the mind blown moment. At least that's what I call it. Today, this morning actually it dawned on me... my relationship with food would never be the same. This is a good thing for me. But when it hits you you don't expect that punch. I enjoy reading the comments here. Yall get it.

I am a few days away from a month after my gastric bypass surgery , I have been doing everything my surgeon told me to do .
    I can't believe i lost 65 lbs in 27 days !!!
I'm finally feeling happy , lighter, and healthier today.
If you are not extremely strong, physically but mostly mentally . This journey is not for you.
In my first month I overcame 2 major issues, on top of and including my surgery recovery.
Alcohol free " reversing a large fatty liver" and testosterone infections free too I'm proud of myself . natural test levels are not back yet but feeling better everyday. my energy level is increasing everyday. i do 2, 20 minute walks per day.
I really have no appetite, but i get my Vitamins and Protein Shakes in everyday. and Water .
my next diet stage is real soft food again, but i hate the full feeling so i rather just drink fluids.
thanks for all the advice on my previous posts i took them with a grain of salt. But everyone helped me find light at the end of the depression tunnel.
I will not try anything without dr. approval.
Anyone interested in healthy living and fatty liver issues, look up Dr. Berg on youtube and subscribe !!!! he's extremely helpful !!!

My relationship got better because I feel better about myself. I have more energy and feel more sexy =boyfriend gets more sex lol. It’s scary for partners when big changes happen but tell your husband he can’t threaten to divorce you to get his way, that’s cruel. Ask to sit down for an uninterrupted hour and talk about his reasons he doesn’t want to get your surgery and why you want to get your surgery. Maybe even a therapist could help, they are experts at relationship barriers

I was able to take pretty big mouthfuls by a few weeks out. But, I don't think it's so much the size of the mouthful as how much you bring the cup/mug/bottle/etc to your lips. I find when I'm at home I'm great about getting my fluids in because I keep it right next to me and pick it up every few minutes. When I'm at the mall or whatever, it's much harder because I hate carrying things (I don't even carry a purse).
I have found since surgery that plain Water just isn't as appealing anymore (I used to love it) and neither is diet soda. I use the Starburst and Great Value brand sugar free drink flavoring packets (like Crystal Light, but I don't like that brand) and instead of adding to 16oz of water I add it to 24 oz of water. I also drink a ton of hot tea. These things help me drink more.

Little & often. I still can’t guzzle 2.5years out but that’s me. Two swallows & then I have to wait. I have a bottle of Water beside my bed & I take a drink every time I wake. I have a bottle in my car - drink when I get in, drink when I get out, drink at every red light, drink every time I overtake a vehicle on the highway, etc. Every little bit helps. Personally I find it easier to drink from a glass than a bottle so I usually have a large glass beside me all day. I also mix it up with fluids: still water, sparkling water gone totally flat, green tea. I used to also sip drinking yoghurt (but they don’t make the high Protein, low fat, low sugar one I used to drink anymore - grrr!). I also make my rolled oats on milk every day - extra milky - so I get 15g protein & more than 300mls (about 10oz) Fluid - a double win. It all counts.

Wow... it sounds like both you and your boyfriend have been through a lot lately. Maybe you need to seek counseling - either one or both of you together. Communication is going to be pivotal for you - both in voicing your needs and HEARING what the other person is saying.
