  1. i totally agree! it would be twice as hard if i didn't have all of you to turn to!
  2. glad to hear that you're doing well!! sorry about your kitty. can't wait to hear how things keep going! take care! steph
  3. something tells me that our bodies have to get used to the abrupt changes. i think the only thing that i really took with me all these years of yo-yo dieting is that when you skip meals or drastically reduce your calorie intake, i seem to remember that your body's first reaction is that your starving so it holds onto all that it can. but i could be completely wrong...but hey it sounds good at least.
  4. oh i so hear you!! i have my next doc appt at 10am and i'm so hoping to be back on regular food! if not...cottage cheese here i come! LOL
  5. hahaah i had that golf ball feeling...only...it's right above my right boob! LOL i figured that's what it meant. but thanks for all the wonderful information. i did in fact eat too fast one night last week...work was horrible, i'd gotten home late, i had a headache and i still had to eat. i wasn't thinking. and half way through my tuna salad i thought i was just going to spew! not a fun feeling and not one i will experience ever again if i can help it. you're so right about learning to eat again.
  6. wow!! you're one tough cookie! i'm a whimp...and couldn't believe it when i found out i went 7 whole hours without any pain meds. i make the dentist give me novocaine when he rebonds my teeth. LOL
  7. in other words...try it i may like it. LOL
  8. i agree...i've been able to tolerate much of what i'm allowed to eat...and at first that was scary. i thought there was something wrong. LOL going to have to find some of that powder. i so agree...the more Protein i eat the less hungry i am and the longer i can go before wanting to eat again.
  9. lucky you! i hope to "graduate" tomorrow...you can only do so much with egg, tuna and chicken when you put them in a blender!
  10. yikes...i'm not getting my notifications! so many more people have posted!! yeah...more people for the party! good luck to all!!!
  11. hi angie! congrats. i so love this board! glad that i found it. i wish i liked cottage cheese. it would be one more thing i could choose from to eat. LOL
  12. just checking in...feeling the best yet. how sad that i could tell because i could actually bend over and clean out the cats' litter boxes. LOL my dad's been on litter duty for almost three weeks. i'm so anxious to try and eat some real food. i'm tired of the really blended up egg, tuna, and chicken salad. i've tried mixing it up with some protein shakes...but they just don't hold me as long. way to go everyone!!!
  13. yes i'd have to agree... someone needs to take a look at that. hope you're ok. please come back and let us know how it all turned out.
  14. yeah it will be three weeks for me too. it seems like so long ago that i had the surgery...LOL head hunger is the worst. i'm so tired of soft food...i hope i get to eat something real soon. take care all!!
  15. welcome welcome! good luck to all of you!!
  16. how cute!! it was fun for me at first...until i started selling 300-400 bags at a show. it takes me two full weekends to make that much. now this is just like being at work. so i'm glad that i decided to only do three shows this year...especially after i chose to be banded. will do! guess i'll try it this weekend and see what happens!
  17. thanks for the website! no unfortunately at the age of 34 i decided to go back to school and get my network administration degree as i got transferred to our IT department at work. as for crafts, i make scented Gelatin airfresheners, foam magnets and fun shaped crayons like dora, spongebob, princess etc. the next two months are going to be very interesting and hectic!
  18. I'm not much of a cook but I'm finding creative ways to do many things as I wait to start eating solid food again. But I have a question. I know most foods freeze well and will start doing that when I get the go ahead. But in the meantime...does anyone know if tuna, egg, and chicken salad can be frozen? I have no problem with having a serving or two in my fridge to eat a day or so later. But if I made enough say for a week, could I freeze it?? I'm all about making things as easy as possible for myself, especially now with going back to school, working full time and having three crafts shows coming down the pike. I don't want to sabotage myself in anyway just because my time might be limited. I figure the more armed I am...the more I can stick to eating the right food in the right amount. Thanks!!!
  19. wow! the things you learn on this website. i'd never heard of that beforel. luckily i'm on depo-provera so no periods! as for the question that prompted the thread...i had to remove both. at least you were just all patients. i work where i had surgery. and i work in our IT department so that means going to nursing floors to fix computers, printers, phones etc. so lucky me...those who saw me naked, see me fixing their computer. LOL but honestly everyone is truly a professional and they were nothing but kind and concerned with getting me better. in fact i just went up to fix a pc that wouldn't turn on and get a laptop to connect to our wireless and almost all of the nurses stopped to ask how i was doing.
  20. can't speak for anyone but myself...and i didn't take it the wrong way at all. so no worries! i just find it really funny how the meaning of some of these words change as we all enter a new phase of our lives. before "cheating" for me meant eating another piece of cake because the first one tasted so good or having the plate of nachos piled high with all the toppings. and now...with this new mindset (specifically on that preop diet) it's like yeah...cheating is having a banana or drinking some gatorade. no matter what...we're all doing something wonderful for ourselves and only we know how our bodies react. i'd love to see some of the doctors try and do this! i wonder how long they'd last. my doc is a confessed junk food junkie. and everytime you see him walking down the hall, he's eating something. so go us!! we all rock!!
  21. haha...Boo very nearly got me last night. I had just turned over! thanks goodness she's so heavy...she woke me up just before i had full cat on top of me...LOL i make foam magnets, scented Gelatin air fresheners, and fun shaped crayons (spongebob, dora, robots, princess etc.) how ironic...i have a friend who moved down to charlotte, nc a couple of years ago...small, small world!
  22. gonna have to check this out. i've been looking into buying those protein bullets...the gurantee makes me feel better about trying them.
  23. Hi, my name is Steph. I'm 34 and live in Johnstown, PA. I've been working at a wonderful hospital for more than five years which then found me going back to school to learn how to work with computers. Now I have a year to go till I get my Associates Degree in Network Administration. Most days find me on our help desk resetting passwords and trouble-shooting printers. I have four kitty cats that I love dearly...but this past week after surgery they've been scaring me jumping all over the bed. I'm just waiting for one to mistake my stomach for the bed and it's going to be bad! LOL Classes start up again next week, and then I have a little side business doing craft shows. There are three of those coming up for me in the middle of September. The procrastinator that I am, I have nothing ready. So as you can see, I'm an over-achiever and don't seem to be satisfied unless I'm so busy I have no time for anything. I'm very happy to have found you all! And happy that I've finally had surgery. I feel like my life can begin again...if that makes any sense.:biggrin::thumbup:
  24. i know i followed the diet religiously for the first three days and was just horribly sick. but then a friend who had the surgery, suggested that maybe i was border line diabetic and didn't know it. she said to drink a little bit of that new low calorie gatorade and to maybe add in a banana in the afternoon. i did that and immediately felt better. and i still lost a pound a day and my doc was very, very happy that from my seminar date in june 2008 to the day i had my surgery i had lost about 25 pounds. and i'm down another 4 since surgery. oh i do remember having a small piece of chocolate once or twice. does that make me bad no...did i make the best choices...not necessarily. but i'm doing my best and trying to be realistic. that's all i can ask of myself.
