  1. Hi All.....................YES I AM A BANDIT NOW!!!!! Yipeee!!! I just got home an hour ago and had to jump on to tell you that I am back. Everything went great. I had a few tears on the operating table as I was put out,but I never got round to finishing telling the anaethetist about my house decorations hehehe, I didn't feel a thing or remember anything and everything went perfect in the recovery room. I am the biggest sook and all of YA, if I can do it, you sure all can too! I am in a bit of pain, but nothing like I had imagined and am on Voltaren, I have had no gas or nausea, but didn't sleep well last night due to these blow up things I had to have on my legs, they inflated and deflated and were sooooo loud. I even got to have pumpkin soup last nite,it was the best after that damn pre-diet. Off now to bed and to rest, trying to get some sleep I am SO glad I have done this, I haven't had any regrets at all ,especially yesterday when I came out of surgery, I am so excited about my journey ahead Love to you all, will write again soon Amourette XXXX
  2. Hi All.....................YES I AM A BANDIT NOW!!!!!
  3. What a beautiful family you have...............yes, you look great. I am leaving formy surgery in just over an hour and doing some last minute perusing on here to remind me about why I am doing this surgery!!!So thanks for you thread! Regards Amourette!
  4. Thanks Dana, I just worked it out it is 8.8 pounds..........but I went thru' hell to lose it,also I am single and don't have a family around me that needs feeding all the time, I think that helps. Are you sure the doctor didn't say 30 hours on the diet hehehe!! It just sounds too long! What liquids did he permit?
  5. A 30 day liquid diet...........are you JOKING!!! That seem ridiculous! I am finishing my last day of a 14 day diet and that was hard enough, I wouldn't survive either. I had my weigh-in last week and she had to consult the doctor as she said I hadn't lost enough weight but I got the go-ahead. (then I found out she had the wrong figures and I had lost 4kg). I reckon if you have done a week then it should be ok, I mean, look at all the people who don't have to do anything................hehe boy have I really hated them this week!!!! My surgery is tomorrow!!!
  6. I can't believe that tomorrow is the big day for me, I am even looking forward to it..............regarding my dates, it will be the 18th here that I am banded, but it will be only the 17th for most of you, ie states side! But either way it is all go in 24 hours! My mum asked me if I wanted to use a new nightie, um, is that what you call it in the states?, I mean a nightdress? And I said ok, i'll have a look at it and when I saw it I burst out laughing.................it was very sheer and pink with lace.............I had to ask her if she wanted me to come back with a lapband or a doctor hehehehe!!!! There is no way I can wear it, I have decided to wear something more practical!!!!!
  7. I am single and have been for a couple of years. I am getting banded tomorrow and really looking forward to regaining my confidence back and self-esteem that disappeared with my weight gain. I really miss romance and having someone to share those special moments with. Tricia, your wedding photo is beautiful!!!! Fiona:clap2:
  8. Oops I mean Jeeperguurl, geez my eyesight must be affected by the lack of nutrients I think (winks)
  9. Oh I quite like the idea of the cruise ship, well except for the part where you miss out ,of course!!!! Just think how we could all go thru' it together. Jeezergurl, I think your doctors approach is better phasing the meals out bit by bit. I just had to go cold turkey on food and eat 2 shakes and one soup, and it has been hard, mentally as well!!!! I have shed a few tears this week.
  10. These stories do make me smile..............I agree Ambien is great for a good nights sleep but I also highly recommend you get straight into bed after the dose. I have had conversations I don't remember and it is a bit embarrassing, hehe!!!:phanvan
  11. Hi there, I had real trouble getting on this site today, did anyone else?? I was getting a bit worried that I had a computer bug, but now everything seems to be working again! Well tomorrow is my last day on this damn pre-op diet. I will not lie everyone, this has been a really tough week for me...........tears, depression and hunger. To top it all off when I went for a weigh-in on Thursday my nurse told me I hadn't been doing the diet properly and had only lost 1 kg, I was really down when I left the surgery as she had to go and talk to the doctor about whether surgery would go ahead, and gave me a lecture about being good this weekend....................well..............the most wonderful thing happened earlier this morning, I found my pre-diet weigh-in and I had lost 5 kg in the last week, she has been looking at the form from a completely different week, I hadn't been following my weight at the end as I had had a few, ahem, last suppers hehehe!!! I am so excited now and can't wait to show her what happened, I couldn't understand the whole thing as my uniform has been looser also, and I have been so good. I am looking forward to Tuesday, a fellow bandster is coming to the hospital to see me in the afternoon so I will have lots to talk to her about!!! But boy, oh boy, will I be glad to see the back of that diet........I have been going to bed early, just to get thru' the day!!!! Bye all!!! Fiona:)
  12. I am the same day as you and also the same age.............I am counting the days down till Tuesday. I have only been on the pre-diet a week and lost a measly 3 pounds, I was very disappointed. Wishing you all the best of luck, it is nice to find someone on the same date!!!! Regards Fiona:D
  13. Oh lovely to hear back from you, I was quite worried and thought you might not come back on here! How do you feel about your doctors statement, are you still happy about going ahead with it?
  14. Yoda, I had no choice but to have 3 protein shakes only a day, one can be substituted with an instant soup that they provide, they are called Dr McLoeds and I think they are only available in Australia and New Zealand. I haven't researched yet into finding a protein drink for after surgery but you have reminded me I must start looking!!!! Sorry this doesn't help ya much! Cheers from amourette
  15. :biggrin1: Whoops from work I mean, hehe, not the surgery! I finished my last day today at work, I am on day 7 of my protein shakes and soup and only 5 days of it left now. But guess what everyone, I am being so good, and when I went to work, my uniform didn't feel as tight, I was quite excited. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I am glad to be finishing for now though, as I had to eat my 'shakes' in front of everyone and they were all being nosey and wanting to know what was happening, I don't want to be explaining to people, I haven't even told my friends yet, but I will have to tell them something as they talk to me nearly everyday and will know something is happening. I go for a weigh-in tomorrow so I am curious to see how much I have lost, and I get to hand over lots of money to them ...............good thing I can't eat any easter eggs,I can't afford them hehehe!!! Wow, I can't believe how big our list is now, I remember starting this thread and thinking to myself 'oh no, what if no-one writes' , and now we nearly need a website of our own hehehe!!!! I was away for 48hours just now and there were 3 pages of new posts to read!!!!! Hey, has anyone heard back from Alisonb from South Africa? Amourette!!!!!:biggrin1:
  16. Glad to see these posts and that things went well for you two!! YOu are so lucky to be on the other side , I am sitting here panicking on this pre-band side. Yesterday I wanted to cancel the operation and go back to weightwatchers...............but back on track today. Keep us informed!!!! Love Amourette!!! PS Whos' next!
  17. Good luck and we will be waiting to hear back from you. Thanx for the list also, I wrongly gave credit for the list, so sorry for that............. Alison, I don't know how much you should worry! I only had blood tests and am doing a pre-op diet and my doctor has a great reputation here in New Zealand. But then again I am 35, no big health problems (yet), ONLY have BMI of 37. I have had none of these tests the others talk about. I think if you are his first patient then you shouldn't have to pay, especially as you would be a walking advertisement for him getting more patients. He should be just glad of the credit! But major applause :clap2: to you for ringing him up and confronting him over these issues, I think some people in these forums (not ours of course!) would go 'oh well,it must be ok' 'cos they want the surgery so bad and don't want to jeopardise it!! Let us know what happens! Amourette aka Fiona
  18. Congratulations on the surgery...............you guys are being so good with all the info, whenever I go to the doctors I know all this stuff that they are telling me already, just from being on here. Hi to AlisonB also, I'm sure Ceparano will have put you on the list already!!! I am starting to think I am lucky not to have had to have all these pre-tests!! Wow, imagine the psychology test for me hehehe!!!!! And I am glad I didn't have to do that bariatic thingy...............who went into surgery today? Oops I will have to go and check again! Bye all Amourette:clap2:
  19. I am paying $15000 plus for mine and had to do a ton (pardon the pun) of thinking about going ahead, I am to be banded in 12 days and just started pre-op diet, but I worte down the pros and cons on a piece of paper. I am so glad to be doing this 'cos the alternative to the operation , ie living the life I was living, not being able to pick up easily my new niece, looking bad in my uniform for work, sittting on the couch eating when I should be out living was consuming me. My depression was very high also, and I just couldn't carry on! I don'tknow anything about your doctor as I am here in New Zealand, but there is heaps of info on the site, did you put his name in the search section? You can PM anytime if you need to ask anything, Good luck on your decision, also it doesn't have to be made now, it takes a long time sometimes and various visits to doctors etc before you may make the final decision Regards Fiona:)
  20. Hope everyone had a nice day and our new banders are doing well!!! Today is the end of the second day of my protein diet and I don't feel too bad yet, the next few days will be interesting, I am so scared the nurse will tell me to go home on the last weigh-in, that I am being so careful! Drove home past KFC though and boy did it smell good hehehe!!! I have been training the past two days at work and I think that this helped me keep busy and take my mind off food! I have been doing a lot of thinking on my drives to work the last couple of days and in retrospect I am glad now I have to do the protein shakes as I think it will mentally and physically prepare me better rather than just going cold turkey!!! Good luck to those having surgery tomorrow!!! Where is everyone else's photos, don't be shy. I am going to get my mum to take my 'official' pre-op photo at the weekend, bit embarrassed but I would like to have one! Cheers!!!! Fiona:bandit
  21. :clap2: wow, can't believe you are back AND have written to us, hope you have a good week, sent you a quick PM, cheers to a good, strong recovery!!!:clap2:

  23. Wow, can't believe some of us have left already for the big day, I can't wait to hear what Audra has to say, in some ways I am jealous that they are there already, but psyching myself up instead for 2 weeks time. I have to go and pick up my liquid protein drink today, not sure if starting it today or tomorrow as should have gone to appointment yesterday...whoops!:omg: I was telling you all about my last suppers and have to admit now, even I am so fed up of take-out and carby meals.........even looking forward to some clean-eating. Yes I am very nervous though about the op, trying not to think about it!:clap2:
  24. Wow there goes our first April member, yipppeee!!!!:clap2: Come back as soon as you can and tell us all about it, Good luck on the start of this new journey for you!
