Ok, so excited. You tend not to "be noticed" at my age. In the last week, several compliments from the opposite sex. Great mood boost!

Re the comments about "doing what they want to" - I had a partial hysterectomy years ago. I was relatively young, and didn't want to go into menopause. I reported that morning, and saw a paragraph essentially saying he could take it all if he so chose. I refused to sign-they looked at me like I'd grown two heads. Well you have to, or he won't do the surgery, bla, bla- I eventually signed, but griped rather loudly about it. He came to see me before the surgery. I let him know he better not. He told me later if I'd been worse, or if I'd been older, he would have. I sometimes wonder if he would have gotten paid more if he'd done the entire thing. Either way, you have to do your homework, stand up for what you want, and be VOCAL about it. I mean, we don't know, do we? If (the doc, any doc) wanted more money, or wanted to do the easier, shorter surgery (I am speaking generally here) or what. Be involved. We treat docs like gods. it is your body, your life, make a list of questions and concerns, take another set of ears with you. Let him know--if he gets huffy, find another doc!

Considering I was 298 this time last year, I pretty stoked seeing that today. Technically it's under 200 so I've reached wonderland I think they call it

Wow, so many reasons that you shouldn't. I haven't, 12 weeks post op. First, you don't know how your new tummy will react. Do you really want to have a dumping "event," or be sick as a dog? I have heard that liquor has a greater effect after, so you could end up face first in the punch bowl-God forbid all three. I wouldn't. If they know about your surgery, and they are your friends, they will be supportive. Also, social pressure should not figure into this. Just saying.

Forums yielded stories about nuts and fish/fish oil causing it. You should ask doc. Don't assume that it is something serious, it just is a question that needs the right answer.
I once looked down before flushing and saw what I thought was a stool full of blood. I got pretty concerned until I remembered the Harvard beets my wife had fixed which I devoured in abundance .

You know, I guess I'm the only dissenter in the group. Bake it, eat a bite or two, then wrap it up and send it away. Send it home with the kids. Take it to the neighbors, or to a shut in. Enjoy a little bit. I lost 50 pounds years ago by Slim fast during the week, and then hubby and I would go out, and I would enjoy a meal and a bite (just a bite!) of dessert. Took a long time, but I could be good during the week as long as the weekend was coming. Moderation in all things.

So my first NSV for the week is making me scratch my head. I'm still losing, which is nice, but I had to return a pair of American Eagle brand shorts because they were too large—apparently I'm a size medium now. The idea of a six-foot-tall, 268-pound man being a medium in ANYTHING clothing related is just too bizarre for words. I expected it in Carhartt work t-shirts because they're like Chucks, they're known to run very large and you have to size down. But a teenage clothing line??
But that's not the weird NSV. The weird NSV requires some backstory.
I live in a two-story home that is a little older (by local standards; stop laughing, Europeans).
My beloved offspring's bedroom is directly above the doorbell—the actual thing that makes the chime sound itself.
Whenever I would walk across her room, my weight would compress the floor and press down on the wall that the doorbell mechanism is mounted on, and because of how it's wired, the doorbell would ring.
It took me WEEKS after we moved in to figure out what the heck was happening. I'd be putting her to bed and the doorbell would ring. She'd wake up and need Water or to chase away a nightmare at 2:30 a.m., and I'd walk in and... the doorbell would ring. Freaked me out!
Well, the other day I was putting clean laundry on her bed ("put it away yourself!") and I noticed that I don't make the doorbell ring anymore. Not even if I hop up and down on the spot. Nothing else has changed except the size of me, and so... weird non-scale victory!

Just made a salad, but now don’t feel like eating it, so am gonna have a peice of my NEW favourite Lindt Lindor Truffle flavour instead: PISTACHIO! (It used to be Hazelnut 😉)
    78 calories of deliciousness.
P.S. will attempt to eat the salad later unless someone gets to it first !

Mine was different. I am older, so I have Medicare. My husband was a veteran, so I also have Tricare. I look through the sites occasionally, just because there are changes over the years to coverage, fees, etc. I have always struggled with my weight, but as I got older and less active, I gain a pound here and there. Well--over the last 3 to 4 years, I eventually went on BP meds. Imagine my surprise when I saw that a BMI of 35 and over, with a co-morbidity (as in diabetes, OR high blood pressure) could qualify you for them paying for the WLS! Took six months of jumping through various hoops, and here I am. (Everybody thought I was nuts, but other than the nausea, I have never looked back.)

Don't stock up too much before surgery; I did, and found that after surgery I couldn't stand the same drinks I chugged before! Ended up giving 3 12-packs away. Also-Ramen broth (of course, don't eat the noodles) was on my list of pre-op, and for some reason, it really, really helped.

I'm only 38 but after losing my weight, my neighbor asked if I had cancer. They had cancer near that time and were just worried about me losing "so much weight"
