The pureed diet was the hardest for me. I was hungry 24/7 and would even dream about food. I felt like I was going insane. What helped me is still following my diet, talking to my family about the struggles, and keeping myself busy. Just keep reminding yourself this struggle is not forever and focus on the end result.

Hello, I had surgery 3/3( gastric bypass) then bowel obstruction surgery on 3/12( surgeon obstructed my bowels during the first surgery). Yesterday I made 6 weeks and I’ve been good with my food no vomiting but I measure everything and I learned yesterday when my nose starts to run stop eating( lol). The only meats I’ve tried so far is chicken and salmon. I’m terrified of eggs( I’ve heard horror stories). I’m still working on getting my Fluid in I literally sip all day in between meals and still can’t get to 64oz. Maybe tomorrow I’ll start waking up at 5:30am. I’ve lost 44 pounds since surgery and 54 all together. This week I hit a stal 😞 probably because I’ve been housebound from all the rain. I’m still working on getting Protein and calories up it’s hard when you are not hungry 😞. I hope everyone is doing great on their journey and I would love to hear where others stand ❤️.

This happens to me every time I expend more energy than usual. I take a break to go eat something. That helps. I’ve even had to take a nap - usually not conducive to the activity. I learned this is simply energy out = energy in. Your body is telling you it needs more energy.

Why already at the gym?! I have read and told Gyms and heavy duty work out should be kept 6 months post op!
My program mostly has me on walking for 6 months more or less - Gradually increasing the time and intensity in those months, but nothing more than that!
I mean you're running on limited calories and for weights and heavy work out your body needs stamina/extra calories which your body can't get in the first few months of the surgery!
At least that's the logic I'll be going with - And incorporating gyms and weights 6 months post-op!

I smelled like a jar of filthy dirty pennies. No matter how many times a day I brushed my teeth, my breath reeked. In the morning, our bedroom had to be aired out from my all night exhalations. Soooooooo disgusting.

I think they're OK to have occasionally, but they're not the best choice. I think they're too much like candy bars and may get you headed in a not-so-great direction. I do often throw one in my purse if I'm going to be somewhere for a chunk of the day, and the food choices are likely to be sub-optimal (or non-existent...). I also pack some when I'm traveling. So yes - I do eat them occasionally and I think they're OK for that. But as a regular thing, there are better choices.

The covid vaccine will likely trigger an immune response or even a low grade fever. What you are trying to avoid is confusion as to what is causing a medical issue or fever (is it an infection from surgery vs vaccine response)...so I would think at least two to three weeks but best to confirm with doctor as you have said.
I have had the first pfizer dose no issues other than an ache in the arm that lasted less than 24 hours.

Surgery was the best medical decision I ever made! I just wish I had done it 5 years sooner!!
It's embarrassing to admit how much I was obsessed with food prior to surgery. I was at a fast food drive thru at least once a day, if not twice a day. Parties were more about the food than they were about the people. Vacations were planned around what restaurants we would we go to.
Not only do I have a brand new body, but I have a brand new mind! Now that I'm not thinking about food all of the time, I have this mental clarity that allows me to think about things that truly matter. I'm a better mother, better wife, and better friend.
I truly love myself -- both inside and out!!!

nope - I don't regret it at all. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
there are a lot of food restrictions the first few weeks and months, but after that, no. I can eat pretty much anything - I just eat much smaller portions than I did before surgery. I eat red meat and I've eaten Peanut Butter cups. Mickey D's would be hard because a lot of their items have a lot of fat, which doesn't always sit well with me, but I've eaten a lot of Egg McMuffins since surgery. I can't do diet Coke anymore. I used to be a diet Coke-a-holic, but the carbonation bothers my stomach and it generally tastes like chemicals to me now, but I COULD have it if I wanted to.

I have never regretted my Lapband, even with some of the bad issues that went with it and I don't regret my recent revision to a sleeve. To be unburdened from a fixation with food, surrendering the concept of food as a comfort, and finally loving my body has been an amazing thing for me.

I don't regret it overall but I do have moments of regret. I was having a dinner with friends recently and the food was amazing, probably the best thing I've ever tasted. I could only eat a few bites and for a time I really regretted it. Then I remembered all the reasons I did it and it's worth the momentary slight suffering.
Also, this is different for different people but I haven't given up any foods. You can enjoy what you want, just in small quantities.

First, there are people that have regretted having surgery. Generally they aren't on sites like this.
Second, all those bad things that you've read about in the past are still out there. Put them in perspective right next to all the negative effects of not doing anything. Choose wisely.
Third, saying goodbye to your favorite foods forever largely depends on your surgery type. Even then, none of the foods you mention are goodbye forever foods in reality.
In the last month I've eaten McD's. Red meat is in my normal rotation, you can pry my hamburger out of my greasy, dead hands. I've had Peanut Butter cups, though not much and not often as I've had RNY and I dump on sugar. In point of fact there is no food or drink that I cannot eat if I choose. I generally stick to my plan, so the worse the food/drink is health-wise the less often I eat/drink a little of it. All things in moderation, including moderation.
Your Doctors work for you. If your Doc is not doing what you need, then you need a new Doc.
You can succeed at this with the proper mind set. It is a big change for most of us. For the better, generally.
    Good luck,
    Tek

Here is an abstract of a study from 2014.
In short, ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL (including total number of calories consumed) the study showed that there is no difference in calories burned over 24 hours between breakfast eaters and skippers.
So if u’r hungry, eat, if you’re not, don’t. Just keep total calories the same, either way.
