  1. Gina, I'm so proud of you for persevering through all of that! With all of that go-getter-ness, I'm sure that you'll be able to make the band work for you! Welcome
  2. Wow Gina...why did you have to wait so long? You are amazingly patient. I hope that you'll share your story!
  3. Please post a picture of the two of you on this happy-happy birthday!
  4. There are lots and lots of others who are posting over on the August 2008 Bandsters boards. C'mon over and introduce yourself to the 250+ band buddies there! Who's on your date? Who's in your state? From the home page, scroll down the menu on the left and choose Monthly Lap Band Support Groups, then select August 2008. Or, you can use this link: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f183/ You'll love it!
  5. Hi Lady, and welcome to the board! I'm getting banded on the 28th too  If you have a GNC or any other bodybuilder/vitamin store, check it out before you buy online. GNC sells the isopure and bullets in singles. I tried the isopure right in the store because they always have some in the fridge. Funny how I'm so used to buying sodas at the checkout at the market but now I can buy a drink from the same kind of display at the vitamin store! I didn't like any of the isopure, but I LOVE the fruit punch New Whey bullets in my crystal light. Lanakila
  6. Hmmmm...I'm not sure about you! You have exhibited a lack of judgement by supporting the wrong son
  7. Welcome to the board! You will find that we will all welcome you with open arms and will support you 100%. Come back often!
  8. Welcome to the board! Check out the post at the top of the board that is called "August 2008 Bandsters" for a list of the folks that we know of who are getting banded this month. I haven't looked at a map, but I see that there's someone from Stroudsburg on the 12th, and a few more folks listed as being from the state. Lanakila
  9. Don't suffer with a lack of variety by sticking to just chocolate and vanilla shakes. The New Whey Bullets are fantastic dumped into Crystal Light. Just make sure that you pour in only half if you get a 42 g because your body cannot absorb that much protein at once.
  10. I just about had a heart attack when I saw that I would have to give up caffeine. The very first thing I asked the dietician about was why not? She said that on top of the fact that caffeine is (1) a diuretic, and (2) a stimulant, it is also (3) an irritant to the lining of your stomach. Since liquids can go right through the banded part of your stomach, they end up on the other side with little or no food to buffer the effect on the lining. I thought her argument of "Three Strikes and It's Out" was a good one. As a reformed Diet Pepsi drinker, I now understand that carbonation is out for good. I figure that this surgery costs a fortune, comes with the risks that come with all surgeries, and that I went into this knowing that there would need to be some lifestyle changes. It just about kills me to walk past a soda, but weighing that against my investment in myself I just had to let it go.

  12. Here's a link to the forum for Tennesseans. If the link doesn't work, go to the home page and scroll down the menu on the left until you see Local Lapband Support Groups and go in that way. Tennessee Local Lap-Band Support - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum Let's Go Peay!
  13. I understand. It is a bit of work and baseball has to be GRUELING what with all of the games they have! You can keep an eye on the smack here on the thread though :tt2:
  14. I'll send a link via Private Message this weekend. We weren't sure that we would have enough to start a new league, but it looks like we'll have it so we'll get it set up! So far everyone is on the East coast except Felicia, so we'll probably have a later draft time to make sure that anyone out West will be home. Bring along any friends you may have on the other boards that might be interested. I'll post a link here too! Lanakila
  15. Here's an overview of how FF is played. Don't worry if you don't have any experience...it'll be fun to see if a Rookie can kick butt! Rules and Instructions If you have any questions...ask away!
  16. Yep, but they aren't the "fun" kind Nice symbolism! That's what I'm going for, but I'd imagine some folks will pick silly too  This will be fun!
  17. Your doctor should never, ever be mad at you. It's ok if they are straightforward, but they should also offer you some strategies that may help you out. It's never fair to criticize without offering some possible solutions. Don't beat yourself up about the weight issue, and don't let anyone else either. It sounds like you are doing great on your lifestyle changes...so Celebrate that as a victory. The rest will come....
  18. Hmmmm...a love affair with a Protein Drink? I want one of those What protein are you using?
  19. Happy to help! Sliming: When you eat and the food gets stuck, your body makes extra mucus to try to lubricate whatever it is. Unfortunately, if it cannot go through the stoma in your stomach, it comes back up...mucus and all. This usually happens when you don't chew & chew. And when you think you've chewed enough...chew some more! PB: A "Productive Burp". You can relate it to vomiting, except that since whatever you are throwing up hasn't been digested at all there isn't any stomach acid. This usually happens when you overeat or eat too fast. In both cases, what comes up hasn't gone through your stoma (stomach passage in the middle of the band.) In both cases, you run the risk of tearing your stitches where they have wrapped part of your stomach around the band to keep it in place. So, other than a nasty event, it's also a physically harming one.
  20. I'm also not going to go gently on you, but I will give you a really warm and inspiring quote at the end! Shame on you! You know how much this surgery cost you, not only in money, but in risk to your life (anesthesia, etc). Let your body heal! Have a serious talk with your head about the difference between head hunger and actual hunger. Don't just depend on fills to keep you on track...you gotta work on the lifestyle too. Ok, that's enough of the harshness. Here's few lines that one of my fellows wrote on a goals board and I'm leaning on it every single day! 21. Ask your doctor before thinking about it any further, k?
  22. Welcome Sally! I hope that you find the boards here just as inspiring and supportive as I have. I'll be banded on August 28th and I cannot wait Lanakila
  23. Don't get us wrong...we COULD be watching it live...but sleep is more fun I love the silly names that folks have come up with for the different venues. The Birdnest is super! See my 'Naming your Band?' thread for an explanation of my propensity for nicknames
  24. I come from a family that names absolutely everything. Everyone's cars have names, the houses have names, even certain cups and foods have names. My car is a silver compact that is named 'Bully' after a silver bullet. Our other car is a mid-sized SUV name 'Biggie' because it's bigger than Bully. Men usually name their "man", and women usually name their "girls", so I cannot imagine that this a mystery concept. My hubby, who I just married a year ago, has adopted this practice quite comfortably. We've been brainstorming for a name for my band. When I tell people that I am getting a band, I always explain it as a tool that "keeps me honest." So far the best name that we've come up with is 'Abe' for "Honest Abe"-President Abraham Lincoln. If we can figure out an acronym for Abe, we'll keep it. Maybe something like Anchors Before Eating but waaaaaayyyyy more clever. Think, think, think.... Are you naming your band?
