I find that drinking plain cold Water doesn’t agree with my body, BUT when I warm my water up and make tea, I can get at least 60 oz in a day. Warm liquids go down way better than plain cold water.

I've got mine a week ago. It doesn't really bother me. I lost 6 lbs last week and my appetite is the same. Different strokes for different folks.

That’s for sure. Me too. I’ve had to work twice as hard since then and progress is slow. If anyone ever tells you that surgery is the easy way out…deck ‘em! (Well, not really, but…)

losing the last 5-10-20 lbs or so is always a BEAR. It took me FOREVER. But we're not the only people it happens to. I distinctly remember sitting at Weight Watchers meetings years ago (way before surgery) rolling my eyes at these normal weight or slightly overweight women bitching and screaming about how hard it was to lose 10 lbs. Now I totally get it!!!

Pinkbunny reacted to Sleeve_Me_Alone in Why did I gain 3lbs?
A single pound of fat is roughly 3500kcal. So unless you ate 10,500kcal OVER your baseline intake, there is absolutely no way that is true weight gain. It could be Water weight, hormonal changes, bowel movement issues, etc. There are dozens of factors that impact weight and might be reflected on the scale. Additionally, the more you lose and closer you get to a healthy weight, the more likely you are to see those fluctuations as the week to week loss slows down. Keep sticking to your plan and doing exactly what you're doing and you absolutely will see the scale move again. And congrats, 90lbs is amazing!

Pinkbunny reacted to Arabesque in Carbonation?
Apparently there is no definitive research for or against carbonation. Except carbonation can irritate reflux (gerd), give you excess wind, many contain excessive amounts of sugar & caffeine & those with artificial sweeteners continue to feed your cravings for sweet. But it is best to follow your surgeon’s recommendation at least until you’re several months out & then see how you go.
I’ve never been good with carbonation. I can’t burp so together with my reflux I’d get the worst hiccups (very painful & even vomit). So I always had to moderate how much I had when I had carbonated drinks (gave up soft drinks years ago so only gin & tonics & champagne).

Like @catwoman7, I let them go flat or at least let them sit so the bubbles reduce now. I have a glass of sparkling Water every day but it sits out for hours as I slowly sip it (alternate sips with still water). I still have no other carbonation but a gin & tonic or a glass of champagne but only once a month now.

This is all great advice!! I upped my Water intake since Monday when I made this post and I’ve lost 3lbs. Since I’m drinking more water through tea, I haven’t been hungry enough to eat more than 800 calories…if I even reach that. This is all a HUGE learning process for me that never ends.

I’m currently 10 months post op. I was sleeved March 12, 2021 at 200 lbs. I’m 5’3 and weigh 149 currently. These last two months have been the slowest months for me. Like 3-5 lbs per month. I know, it’s Heart breaking 😒. What I’ve realized is because I’m smaller, my body requires less calories to lose, so I googled a calorie calculator and I have to eat 680 CALORIES TO KEEP LOSING. That’s insane!! I would starve every single day and be miserable, but my goal weight is 110-120. Has anyone else gotten to my weight and dealt with the struggle of trying to continue to lose weight on such low calories? How did that work for you? I’m currently trying to substitute meals with tea, so I can manage 680 calories. I guess it’s working lol.

I agree. I was sleeved March 9 and also started with a low BMI. I am 9 pounds from goal (and top of “normal” bmi) and seem to be almost stalled there. I am going to try adding exercise before reducing calories any further but I am eating a lot more than you at 1000-1200 most days.

I agree with Lizonaplane, you are very close to a a healthy weight for your height, weight loss is going to be lower and slower for you now, much patience will be needed. The weight loss you are achieving is actually really good as this point and at your weight.

Pinkbunny reacted to catwoman7 in Weight gain
the other posters are right - it's almost certainly due to Water retention, Constipation, or hormones. There's no way you could gain 5 lbs of true weight in three days unless you've eaten 17,500 calories more than what your body needs (since it takes 3500 calories to gain one pound - so 17,500 for 5 pounds)

I've had a few episodes of this if I've eaten too much or too fast. It starts with nausea.... you feel like you're going to throw up, but no food comes up, just copious amounts of thick, clear slime. It's very weird.

Pinkbunny reacted to Sweetpyt418 in My story... I caused my own stalls.
Good morning! This is my first post here, but I have been "lurking" for a while. 😊
I had my RNY 3/17/2021 (HW 367, SW 349) and did GREAT for the first 3 months (down to 292.6). Around month 4 I noticed I could eat much more and when boredom hit, I would munch on Snacks. I started eating "around" my surgery. Slider foods mostly. I hit my Protein goals and Water goals daily, but I have realized that I am a stress and emotional eater. In my program, we have a doctor, nutritionist, and a surgeon. I spoke with the nutritionist and the doctor about my habits and how I caused my own stalls. They were quite understanding and even offered to start a medication to control the appetite. (I work 2 jobs and I am a single mother, so I was using food to soothe myself when things were rough.) At my 6 month post-op appointment with my surgeon (279.8) I was hit with accusations of not wanting it bad enough and was told being stressed should make me lose weight, etc. Ugh! At the end of the appointment, he told me he believes in me and it frustrates him when patients aren't losing what he expects. So of course, I went home and did what I knew to do - I ate everything I could without getting sick. I woke up having lost 2 pounds. 🤦‍♀️
As angry as I was with my surgeon, he had changed something in me. He was wrong. I want it bad enough. I just don't know how to cope with stress well. I have always used food to self-medicate, to Celebrate, to cope with life. I took up smoking and when I quit, the weight piled on. Today I am 263 pounds. I am 6 1/2 months post op. I am tracking every atom of food I consume again. I am drinking a gallon to a gallon and a half of water every day. I am walking more than ever. When I see him in 5 1/2 months, I want to be at goal. His goal for me is 200 pounds. My personal goal is 167. I did not need the medication to jump-start my weight loss again. I needed to be angry. I say this to say that I was not being honest with myself and when someone was honest with me, I became defensive. I still have days when I eat like crap or days when I don't want to walk. Such is life. I am fighting this food addiction with all my might and I really have my mean old surgeon to thank for the kick in the pants. ❤️

Before surgery, I was in the habit of only weighing myself when I went to the doctor. After surgery, I’ve weighed once a week, but I’m wondering if I should not weigh myself unless at the doctors office because I’m feeling obsessed with the scale. I’ve heard when we focus on the healthy lifestyle the weight will organically fall off. It’s not fun being obsessed with the scale and there are other great wins post-surgery other than the number on the scale. What are your thoughts?

Hi, im just over 4 months out from RNY and i also have been in a stall for around 6 weeks then iv just lost 2 pounds was devastated thought i would of lost alot more, think my body it just trying to hold onto the weight. My hair is also falling out alot, only noticed it this past month or so, iv had to upgrade my hoover to a shark antihair wrap as all the hair was wrapping around my other hoover and i was forever unclogging the brush bar. Wish i could lose weight as well as im losing my hair lol.

    I’m only 3 months out from surgery….

but orange soda…. Used to love it and now it taste like rotten oranges. I just had one sip from my son’s …So gross.
pancake puppies from Denny’s? I tried a tiny bite of that and it tasted like I was guzzling the oil vat from the county fair lol. Again…. So gross.
I tried a jelly bean and spit it out immediately. It tasted horrible.

I had a bite of cupcake from my sons birthday yesterday. Also gross. It was chocolate flavored and I have never been a fan of chocolate.
I ditched sodas and sugar for the most part last october prior to surgery. I’ve found that my tastes have DEFINITELY changed as a result. I can’t have anything greasy or anything with too much sugar. It just tastes bad. I shouldn’t be eating that stuff anyways so it’s a win I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am 1 week post op today and I can say im down almost 10 pounds. I am drinking the different Protein premium drinks, sugar free Gatorade and Water. Trust me when I say its a struggle at times getting 64 oz in if I dont start drinking by 6am. But what I hate so far is this nauseous feeling. Also I hate these muxed berry chewable vitamins by Bariatric Advantage. They are nasty as hell and makes me want to puke. The wild cherry chewable calcium citrate Vitamins not too bad. I call myself getting bariatric specific so i want have to take alot of pills. Im thinking now I probably have should went with the flintstone vitamins.
