Living Rent Free
Personally, I don't think he meant it in the way you received it. I think of this surgery as an investment. And it's a great investment on myself for several reasons, not just appearance. I would say that my investment paid off. I don't think he meant it as a bad thing, I think he meant yeah, she's healthy she's happy, she looks great -life is good all around, type of meaning. Maybe write your feelings down on a piece of paper and consider it a thing of the past.

Skin dryness after sleeve?
icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 replied to icandothis_gastricsleeve020221's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery ForumsOmg thank you so much for this! I think you've solved the mystery. I was on vitamin D supplements before surgery but have not been cleared to retake them since. I'm one month post sleeve and I think that might be it. I drink 70 oz of water daily and use aquaphor and cocoa butter and cerave on my skin about 4 times a day. I mean my skin is so bad, I feel it looks like elephant skin. Anyways, thank you!

Help
icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 replied to webbalyssa1990's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&ASip super slow -thats what I was always told. Your stomach is pumped with carbon dioxide during surgery so for the first 4/5 days you may have bloating and get pains on your chest, shoulders, and back. I'm 1 month post sleeve and feel incredible, you'll get there, too.

Crystal light (peach) two days post op
I was given crystal light peach tea when I woke up from surgery, along with a bowl of brow, a bowl of jello, and a cup of coffee. Honestly, I think it's okay if it's on your list of acceptable items. Your doctor should have given you a diet plan that would include what you can drink during the liquid stage. Everyone's plan is different and every surgeon had their do's/dont's - I'd call them and ask. Good luck on your recovery!

1st appt but w/ a Nurse Practitioner
icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 replied to Happymouse13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AAll my appointments were with the surgeon. But I'm sure if he trusts this person then they must be knowledgable. Plus, its just the first appointment. You'll probably have another two or three with the surgeon. Good luck!

How long until you felt like you could go back to work?
icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 replied to newyorklady20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AI work from home and I worked the day of surgery as soon as I woke up in my hospital room. All the nurses and doctors would see me on my bed with my laptop working and on conference calls. I worked each day thereafter. I felt significantly better after 2 weeks post sleeve and went to the office for a few hours.

Has anyone tried Premier Protein Oatmeal shakes?
Blueberry one is delish!

Cereal
Have you tried katalina crunch? It's a protein cereal, great reviews. I haven't had it because I'm still in the pureed stage but I am SO buying it when I'm cleared for cereal.

What if it just...doesn’t work?
My doctor said I'd lose about 50% of my weight in my first year, but he has more weight loss in mind. He wants me to lose about 55-60% of my weight. 50-60% does put me in a healthy BMI range.

Pre Op Diet!
icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 replied to JustJazzy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AI did not like those, they made me nauseous instantly. I tried the regular chicken flavor and then the chicken ginger flavor. Plain chicken flavor was probably the better of the two. Still, I just made my own broth.

Skin dryness after sleeve?
icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 replied to icandothis_gastricsleeve020221's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery ForumsThank you!!! I'm on day 25 post sleeve and this dryness is driving me crazy. I feel I am the only one struggling with this. Have you found any lotion that works?

800 calories a day
I am still on pureed stage and am able to have 6 small "meals", more like snacking because I get full quickly. Each meal is less than 150 calories. I have a food scale and measuring cups for everything I eat. Plus 60-80 oz of water per day.

NO BM(poop) IN 6 Days!
I did not have a bowl movement for 14 days after surgery. My doctor said this sometimes happen with too much protein. He had me drink prune juice starting at my 1 week check up. Half prune and half water for 5 days. That did not work. Then he had me drink milk of magnesia and I took that for 2 days and finally I had a bowl movement. It was more the runs than anything. Afterwards, in my pureed stage he allowed oatmeal. I have oatmeal daily and think I'm regular now, but if I skip oatmeal one day, I am unable to have a bowl movement. So while on liquid stage they prune juice or milk of magnesia and then on your pureed stage find something to keep you regular.

Advice please
Honestly, I don't think there's anything you can order while on pureed stage. If it were me, I'd do one of two things: 1. I wouldn't go. 2. I'd bring my own pureed meal, if the restaurant allows.

Skin dryness after sleeve?
icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 replied to icandothis_gastricsleeve020221's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery ForumsI drink 3-4 bottles of water and protein2o daily, ( that's 60oz minimum daily-80oz daily) - my dr and my NUT both said I'm hitting my goals. I do moisturize after my showers, too. It's really bizarre. Maybe it's the weather or something, but the dryness is very unusual for me. I kind of wonder if it's like skin starting to sag.

3 weeks post op - The good and the bad
icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 replied to Dubai_MGB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AI'm 23 days post sleeve and still on pureed. Basically all I eat are eggs, oatmeal, tuna salad, and oikos triple zero yogurt. I cannot wait to get on soft foods in a week. As far as water, right now I can have 3 sips at a time and drink 3-4 bottles of water or protein2o, no chugs though. Like you, I do feel dizzy at times when getting up or turning a corner, but not bad enough to feel like I'll faint. I kind of just pause for a moment. I have a lot of energy and feel great and am looking forward to going to the gym next week. My biggest issues right now are lack of bowel movement, skin dryness, and a crazy headache (think its PMS related though). What are you eating in the soft foods stage?

Surgery in the morning. Pain & Nausea?
Thankfully, I did not have nausea. Surgery day when I woke up I was in pain, but I told my surgeon and he ordered medicine that did work and only had it twice. About 8 hours apart each. Then I was fine. I walked twenty laps around the floor the next day. Used the bathroom regularly. And was able to drink 48 oz each day. It was a good experience. However, day 2-4/5 were brutal. These were the days I was so bloated. It was painful. I had pain in my shoulders, back, and chest. But then day 5 it was significantly better and improved daily afterwards. I'm on day 20 and able to drink 64 oz of water and 50 grams of protein. My best advice for surgery day is to use the bed to get up and down, the sitting up part will feel like you ripped your stitches. Good luck!

Skin dryness after sleeve?
Hi, I had my sleeve 20 days ago and have excessive skin dryness. All over my body, including legs, arms, hands, chest, face. Lotion and aquaphor do not help. Just seems to get worse. Does anyone else have this after a sleeve?

Need Help (Puree Stage)
My nutritionist allows me to have sugar free oatmeal in my pureed stage. It's listed in my plan, too. I bought some sugar free instant oatmeal and they are really good. They don't cause me to have stomach spasms, nausea, or acid reflux. I make it kind of runny so I dont feel blockage in my throat. I'm on day 18 post surgery, and day 8 on pureed stage. One pack lasts me 4 meals.

Strange feeling..... COLD
I was feb 2nd, so we were a few days apart. I'm still in the pureed stage, so I find warm oatmeal to really help me when I'm cold.

Strange feeling..... COLD
I've been freezing cold since my sleeve 14 days ago. I read in one of the comments that a NUT said 80% of sleeves experience coldness. I'm guessing it's a common side effect, but I do not believe it's related to iron.

Any wisdom and tips for upcoming Sleeve surgery?
icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 replied to SleeveO's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery DiscussionsHi, I'm on day 13. There's only one thing all my doctors appointments, classes, zoom meetings, and support groups never mentioned to me in all my pre-op months. The pain of the bloating is brutal. The first 4 days I was so bloated and filled with air, couldn't burp/pass gas. The pain was in my stomach, chest, arms, back, and felt like I couldn't breathe. Nothing got rid of this, not all the walking, not the heat pads, nothing. But then suddenly, it went away. So my word of advice is, you'll be super bloated at first, but I promise after day 4 it gets better day by day. Best of luck!!
