GreenThumb got a reaction from Bizzyswoman77 in February 2021 Sleeve Surgery
Five days into the liquid diet and the mind games are insane. My poor family.
Tomorrow (Monday) I'm meeting with anesthesia, getting blood drawn (again), and doing the big meeting with the team and finally meeting my surgeon in person. OF COURSE we're supposed to get our most significant snowstorm of the year tomorrow, too. Fingers crossed that the roads are decent.
Nine days until surgery. NINE. MORE. DAYS.

Feb. 3 after being postponed from November due to COVID. liquid diet starts Wednesday and I keep flip-flopping between being emotional/crying to absolutely psyched and ready! (I'm a LOT of fun to live with right now, lol)

Oh a book! Yes, I’ll bring one although I do wonder how much I’ll be able to read. And for sure some lip balm and hand lotion.
My hospital is allowing one visitor and my husband can wait for me to get out of recovery. I don’t know if he will. Im kind of ok if he doesn’t feel comfortable with that. I’d rather he limit his exposure time. If he can wait until they take me to the OR that’ll be good with me.
I’m super excited and not nervous at all! But there’s still time for nerves to kick in.

Sorry, it’s called Orgain, not Orlean (lol, wishful thinking?!)

I brought headphones for my phone. I always have trouble sleeping after surgery and it's calming to listen to music.

I’ve had puppies before and while I’ve heard people say that, I’ve never known it to be nearly as much work as a newborn. I also plan to get an older puppy (like a year or so old) so I don’t have to worry about house breaking them or anything.
Gardening is a great idea! I used to do that a lot when I was younger but haven’t in a while. I planned to do a weight loss blog to keep me accountable but it wouldn’t really distract me from my journey because it would be about my journey if that makes sense. Thanks for your advice 😊

could be the hunger. Or maybe one of the artificial sweeteners? Some people are sensitive to those - or at least to some of them. The team must have thought it was something in the whey-based Protein, which makes sense as well. Not sure what else to suggest other than thankfully you're almost done with this. Although it might continue after surgery if it's some kind of food intolerance. In that case, I hope you can figure out what exactly it is pretty soon!

GreenThumb got a reaction from GreenTealael in Nausea on the pre-op liquid diet?
I'm almost done with my two-week pre-op liquid diet, but I'm having trouble with nausea. It comes and goes in waves, isn't constant, and doesn't seem to be related to any specific product. I mentioned it to my team and they suggested trying a plant-based Protein. I've tried Vega before and HATED it, so I'm not keen on this.
Anyone else have this and figure out the issue? Nerves? Sheer volume of protein? Hunger presenting as nausea?

I like to have body/baby wipes around because you cannot bathe for a while but will have a lot of people touching you while in the hospital.

Hi everyone! I am new to this site and my surgery is scheduled for Feb. 8, 2021. I’ve watched a couple videos on what to bring and what not to bring with me to surgery. I wanted to hear from you guys your opinions.

GreenThumb reacted to Circus321 in Distraction after surgery
I have found in previous diets and lifestyle changes that I do better if I have something else new to focus on as well that’s not stressful for me. For example, I was able to lose 50lbs and do a triathlon a year after I had my son because weight loss wasn’t my primary thought at that time, my new baby was. But things that are too stressful and occupy too much time sabotage me. For example, I gained back the 50lbs and then some after I started back to college full time. So I was thinking of adopting a puppy after my surgery (like 6 weeks after so I’ve healed) to keep me occupied but not stressed out. It’d also give me a reason to be more active. I think it’d also be good for my kids because I know that it can be scary watching a parent go through surgery, especially at a young age, and it’ll help them feel better. Is this a good idea or no? Has anyone else done something like this?

Sports bra is a great ideal. I am taking phone charger and a cheap pair of house shoes so I can walk in hall and I am a germ phobic so I will trash them before I leave hospital. I don’t want to walk hall in the socks and get in bet with them. Thought I would use hospital gowns because of IV that still need to be inserted. Anything else I will use what hospital provide. I did read people talking about chap stick. What I were there I will wear home.
I hate that we have to go alone.
Anyone in Chicago I am going to University of Chicago.

What are you all packing for an overnight hospital stay? I have my fuzzy robe, very loose yoga pants, loose t-shirt, granny undies and a sports bra. Not much as far as toiletries, just toothbrush/paste/floss and a facial wash. Adding: my Crocs which are my slippers. And my phone charger, of course! Am I missing something?

I finally got the call around 3:10 pm today that my insurance has approved my surgery and I am going in on Monday. I have to be there at 5:30 am. I am excited and terrified at the same time. My hubby is just dropping me off since there is a no visitor policy in place. No point in missing a days work.
