  1. My husband was against surgery for years, because he feels one should be able to use self control & exercise and not put themselves in risk with an operation. Then 2 months ago he in a weak moment....he said "IF you want this so bad" I grabbed that as all the support I needed. Why rock the boat when your getting what you want. JUST 2 DAYS AWAY
  2. I'm the fat sister....my husband 's 4 sisters are all supermodel thin. One of them said to me "When I get over 98 pounds I quit eating." I'm over 200 pounds...I said nothing. How can they relate to my struggle, my addiction, my self loathing? I am going to Mexico by myself spending my own retirement money. I'm never going to be 98 pounds...150 is good enough for me. To Heck with them.
  3. My doc gave me a option of 3 different diets I could follow depending on when I started. If I started 3 weeks out I could go on a adkins type diet (low sugar, low carb) If I started 2 weeks out I could go on slim fast type diet with shakes for breakfast and lunch and lean cuisine for supper. 3rdly If I didn't do either of the above I could do a liquid diet 1 week before surgery. So it appears the object is to prepare your body for WLS.
  4. Do you have room for one more to your meeting.. I am getting banded in Mexico July 22. I am going there incognito I have only told 2 people of my decision, I think it is better for me that way. However I sure am glad to hear that there is a support group nearby as I think I need someone to talk to.
  5. I have created a folder for myself and collect words of encouragement and wisdom that are written on these forums. I know I will look at these words in the future and hopefully it will help me through the rough areas. As I am going to be banded on the July 22 and have learned that you can't have the whole cake and eat it too without paying for it. I know it 's going to be a struggle, but your honesty have been very helpful
  6. I would like to thank you for your comments. I am a little scared because I am going to Mexico from Canada. There is always a chance that the surgery doesn't work :rolleyes2: however, in Canada 20,000 is close to the going rate and getting insurance to pay is not easy or doable. My date is July 22, 2008. :rolleyes2: I hope I don't have problems, but the thing about life you can't avoid them. The problem today is: I NEED TO LOSE THIS WEIGHT. I want to be healthy again, this may be a chance at that goal.
