ElPasoSleeveGal got a reaction from Amo1377 in Grossed out by everything!!
I am 1 month post op today. And I am literally grossed out by everything. Even when I think something is going to be delicious to eat (for example tuna) couple bites in I'm so over it and never want to see it again. I'm running out of food options during this soft food diet here It's actually very frustrating and I wanna cry.

I just checked and I'd lost 39.6 lbs at the three-month mark - so the same as you. And I went on to lose over 200 lbs.
people lose at all different rates due to a myriad of factors - most of which you have little to no control over (e.g., age, gender, genetics, metabolic rate, starting BMI, whether or not you lost weight prior to surgery). The two factors you DO have control over is how closely you follow your program and your activity level. If you do well with those two, then that's all you can. If you're committed, you WILL lose the weight, whether fast or slow. I was a slow loser from the get-go, but I still ended up losing all of my excess weight.

40lbs in 12 weeks is an awesome effort, how much would you have lost if you hadn't had surgery 🙂
You may have had a couple of mini stalls. Stay on point, keep at it, and maybe if you feel like you are too sedentary you could get out for a 15 minute walk each day in the morning ? It's a beautiful time of day, fresh air, new start, you don't know what's coming in the day. You know what, I'm going to do exactly that, starting tomorrow morning!!
    Thanks 🙂

Thank you for sharing. I had the sleeve on 1/15 and I am 27 pounds down, but that’s including the pre-op diet I started 1/1. I also feel like my loss is on the slower side, so you are not alone. My surgeon and nutritionist seem to think it’s ok.
I started out with a BMI under 40, and I have heard that sometimes you lose slower if you have ‘less’ to lose. Not sure how true that is.
Either way, the important thing is that the weight is coming off! As opposed to if we had not made any changes, it would have be the same old story, or maybe we would have even gained a few pounds!
Keep up the good work everyone, and don’t stop!

I had sleeve surgery 12/29 so I am about 7 weeks post op. I have lost 30lbs since surgery date. I feel like I should be losing more, even the dietitian agreed.

But so far I've been able to tolerate foods, I've never had dumping, I do need to get more Protein and Water in, but I feel good.

So my program said that I could drink the Isopure waters but my Fluid intake and wouldn't count towards my Protein goal. It seems that my program has alot of those kind of rules. For example I can only drink whey isolate Protein Shakes. I'm not able to eat anything spicy until 3 months to avoid ulcers. Just different things. I am really trying to heed their advice, but it is somewhat difficult in this learning phase. I am 5 weeks post op today. 1 more week t regular diet! Wooooo

Just got home from my sleeve surgery. I was in the operating room at 7:30 am yesterday. Turns out I also had a small hiatal hernia so they repaired that while they were in there. The pain in my chest from the gas when I woke up in recovery was excruciating. Most of my stay wasn't too bad but I definitely didn't move much. Getting dressed and getting in the car were quite painful. I am home now and took a pain pill so I am feeling a bit better. All the nurses at Hackensack Medical Center in NJ were amazing! I am a bit congested (I think from the anesthesia) and it really hurts to try and cough.
I'll check back in a few days and let you know how it is going.

Hi! I take the Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate chewables and the ProHealth Bariatric multivitamin chewable. I bought both from the hospital pharmacy initially, but they were almost $60 together. So, I went online and price matched, each brand’s website was the cheapest VS all other retailers I could find, so I ordered thru each of them. I didn’t even think of using other brands... that is now my today’s “DUH” moment. They offer a slight discount if you auto-ship, so I’ve done that for both. For the multivitamin chewable, I H.A.T.E the citrus flavor; but since I’m past one month post-op, my NP says I can switch to the pill. Honestly, anything would have sufficed as long as I don’t ever have to taste, smell or see the citrus flavor chewable ever again! I like that the pill form comes in a 90-day supply, so that will be helpful in cost per month. I think the Calcium Citrate chewies are $35 if you autoship. I’ve tried the ISO-PURE Protein waters, they are fantastic! I’ve also had the Protein Shakes, I don’t really drink them anymore, my tummy does not agree post-op.
I struggle with getting protein in, but I use the GENEPRO Protein Powder, it’s the only one my program suggested that isn’t flavored. I figured that would be best because I can add it to anything or any temp of food. It is a little more expensive than the others but it’s great and I have no complaints. Hope that helps! I know it can totally be overwhelming at first. Please reach out if you ever need a support!

I am 8 months out and nothing really tastes great to me, tbh. I don't have cravings really... I usually pick the thing I am wanting most, then I start eating it... and it's just, eh. Only thing that tastes great to me --- which I hadn't had really since my sleeve... was mayo. Yesterday I had a turkey sandwich on Aldi's Keto bread and only the mayo tasted good to me.
My favorite things in the world: chicken and ketchup - I really don't like anymore.
Thing is - I am hungry a lot. Like 2 hours after I eat - I get hungry again, so I do still eat but it is merely to stop my stomach from growling/feeling hungry... not because I enjoy it.

That happened to me too, and even now that I am on soft food diet. I find these recipes I wanna try and I get all jazzed up and make it, then a couple bites in I'm grossed out and never wanna see it again. It's slowly passing. I'm not sure the reason, but I know it's frustrated. Just keep in mind it gets easier.

as others have said, 18 lbs in three weeks is great! I lost 16 lbs the first MONTH, and I started out heavier than you. As BigSue said, most of us seem to lose somewhere in the 15-25 lb range the first month. You'll always find a few who lose above or below that, but that seems to be where most of us fall. I think a lot of people come into this with expectations of losing a lot more the first month, and I think that's probably because of shows like "My 600 lb Life". But you have to remember that those people have MUCH higher BMI's than the average WLS patient. And generally speaking, the more you weigh, the faster you tend to lose - at least at first.

You lost 18 pounds in 20 days... how is that slow? I lost 23 pounds the first month but I was 321 on my surgery day and had a different surgery. I lost 19 pounds the second month and 21 the third. You're doing good on the weight loss front so don't stress about it. You are losing at a good pace.
If you're having issues with Water try something with electrolytes like Powerade zero or gatorade zero or propel water. Or, even Protein2o as it has 20 grams of Protein and tastes like Hint water.
To help with the bathroom issues add some Miralax or something to help loosen things up. But... you need to hydrate yourself to help it along. Maybe suck on some sugar free popsicles if drinking is too difficult.
As to the food front... I don't know what to say because my program allows avocado, Tomato sauce, salsa, etc. so I have no suggestions based on what I ate because a lot of things around that time either had avocado or tomato sauce...

You've lost 18 pounds in 3 weeks? That is very good and well within the range of what you should expect. Most people lose 15-25 pounds in the first month, and you are already there. Keep up the good work and be patient!
Are you taking Miralax or anything else for the Constipation? You definitely want to head that off ASAP. Increasing your Water intake should also help.
Are you not allowed to eat salsa, avocado, or Tomato sauce ever, or just for a certain period of time in the beginning? There are plenty of foods you can still eat, though. You should be able to eat eggs, cottage cheese, ground meats, canned tuna or chicken (Starkist makes a variety of flavored ones), canned or boiled fruits and vegetables, hummus, Beans, Laughing Cow cheese... You also still have your purees: yogurt, sugar-free pudding, unsweetened applesauce, Soups, Protein oatmeal, etc.
