I haven't seen many people since my weight loss due to Covid, but my my husband's comments always warm my heart. Sometimes when we hug he'll exclaim "I keep forgetting how tiny your are." One time we were out and he hit the mens room while I waited, and when he came back out to find me he said he didn't see me at first b/c he was looking for the "old" me and forgot to to look for the "tiny" me.
I'm actually excited to go back to work someday and see my coworkers who have no idea what I look like! That will be a fun day!

I love when I get compliments from people that don't know the "presurgery" me. The other day a guy was hitting on me at the carwash. The conversation eventually got around to age. He guessed my age but was off by 24 yrs! I asked him how he came up with that age since I was wearing sunglasses and a mask. He said, "Well, you are so tiny and you look like you take care of yourself. You have great abs and no body fat." I said, "Maybe I just have a really good plastic surgeon!" He said, "No, you don't look like the plastic surgery type." I thought to myself, well I guess I won't tell you I just had a lower body lift and brachioplasty in August. And no, I didn't give him my number.

Ok, maybe not the best compliment, but definitely the funniest:
The first time the Kid's boyfriend (now ex) met me, I overheard him tell her "Whoa, your mom is hot". He was 15.
I was all "awwww" and "ewwww" at the same time. 😂😂😂😂

Yesterday I picked up Starbucks. While waiting on my drink, another woman was making small talk with me. She very confidently said to me: "So you play soccer?" It caught me off guard because I wasn't wearing anything indicating anything about soccer, nor had we discussed anything about sports or soccer. (I had on tennis hoes and Nike Running crop pants.) It was honestly pretty random... but later it hit me... She assumed that I was an athlete.. because I looked thin/athletic enough to look like an athlete. It's been the best compliment I've received in the 5-ish months since my surgery. So, what was your best compliment?

To add to @Jaelzion excellent list:
    9. You’ll lose some hair. The surgery & reduced caloric intake accelerates your natural Hair loss cycle. It generally starts around month 3 or 4. You can’t stop it cause it’s a normal process. It does stop & your hair is regrowing as you’re shedding. How long it lasts is an individual thing.
    10. Constipation is common. Add benefibre or similar to your diet & have some gentle stool softeners on hand. You’ll become regular again once you get close to or are in maintenance.
    11. After surgery you may experience some nasty & very sudden attacks of diarrhoea. Pack some incontinence knickers so you’re not caught unaware & forced to toss your own knickers.
    12. You will have lose skin. How much depends on how much weight you have to lose, your age, gender, weight gain/loss history, how long you’ve been overweight.
    13. A lot of hormones, etc. are stored in your fat & as you lose your weight they’ll be released into your blood stream. You may experience changes to your menstruated cycle like heavier periods, increased cholesterol levels, incidences of low blood pressure, etc. Things will settle once you reach goal.
    14. You will experience tiredness & loss of energy at times. Rest, nap as you need it.
    15. Take each step slowly. Your tummy can become very contrary & throw tantrums like a 2yr old child. You may not enjoy foods you did before surgery. food you ate successfully for weeks may suddenly upset you. Don’t give up on those things. Take a break & try them again later.
    16. Yes, there will be foods you won’t eat again but they are the ones you won’t be able to tolerate after surgery &/or got you to the weight you are now. There will be foods you will only eat in moderation & foods that you discover healthier alternatives for or healthier ways of cooking them.
    17. Listen to your body. It will tell you what you can or can’t tolerate. You may experience tightness or heaviness, vomiting or diarrhoea, even dumping.
    18. You digestive system may gurgle, groan & whine like the ghost of the part of your tummy that was removed is haunting you.
    19. Eat slowly. Put your cutlery down between bites, sit back & wait. Then ask yourself do you really need the next bite or do you just want it.
    20. Don’t eat until you are full. Eat until you’ve had enough. There is a difference.
    21. Sometimes, you may think you are having hunger pangs but it’s actually too much acid in your tummy. You likely will be prescribed esomeprazole to take at the beginning. If you weren’t, ask for some. My surgeon told me I’ll always be taking one every day.
Of course you may not experience all of these things but it’s better to be aware of them in case you do.
    Good luck on your journey.

    Let's see, a few things:
    1. You may have a few uncomfortable days when you're wondering what you got yourself into. Don't worry, it gets better quickly.
    2. Being "full" will feel different after surgery and you'll want to learn to recognize that feeling quickly. Overeating or eating too fast after surgery makes you REALLY miserable.
    3. You'll only be able to eat a tiny amount at first. Just getting enough Water and Protein in will be tough. Don't worry, you'll be able to eat more soon.
    4. Stick as closely as you can to the eating plan your bariatric team gives you.
    5. About a month after surgery, you might stop losing weight. It happens to almost everyone and it's called the "three-week stall" here on the forum. Don't worry, you'll start losing again.
    6. Don't buy a lot of clothes as you start losing weight. You'll be blowing through sizes really quickly. Just get a few inexpensive pieces until you know what size you are eventually going to be.
    7. Don't compare your progress to other people. We have a different metabolism, dieting history, lifestyle, etc. Some people will lose faster than you and some slower. It's all good.
    8. You will definitely reach a point when you can have your favorite foods again, although likely in small portions and not very often. Some things might taste different after surgery.
Just a few tips! Hope all goes well with your surgery. 🤗

Exactly 5 yrs ago this month I stepped on the scale at my doctors office and it read 110, but it was KG! That means I had a BMI of 48. I remember being so depressed because that was the highest number I had ever seen. I remember thinking "man that's what I should weigh in pounds!" I am excited today because when I got on the scale this morning it read 110.6...POUNDS!! It's been a long road but I can't believe I finally got there!

    Your hair looks great! ❤️❤️

I would love to cut all of mine off. Lol. My Hair loss has been real, but not noticeable to others. I have had short hair off and on throughout my life. My husband is very resistant to short hair 🙄🙄 I am keeping it for now, to indulge him, but the moment the hair loss becomes too much, off it goes! 😬😬😬😬😬

Like many, I've lost a TON of hair as part of this journey. In August, at 7 months out, I cut it to a long bob which helped, but as it started to grow out it quickly became scraggly and looked very fine. SO I did a major cut this week taking it to a long pixie (almost 10.5 months out) I am super happy at what a difference it made in appearance - parts of it are almost back to normal density with regrowth. Now if it only stops falling out and I can keep what I have.

pdc1605 reacted to Jaelzion in HOW WAS YOUR THANKSGIVING/ ANY ADVANCE PLANS FOR DEALING WITH CHRISTMAS?
I'm almost two years out and at goal, so I was pretty relaxed this Thanksgiving. I tasted everything and had fun doing so. I even had a mini-cupcake. I was careful not to overeat though because I didn't want to be miserable. I put on a few pounds of Water weight from the carbs, but I didn't stress over it. The next day, it was RIGHT back on plan, no leftovers, no "I'll wait until Monday" (anybody remember that one?). It worked out okay, so I'll probably take the same approach for Christmas. I'll taste everything and maybe even have dessert, but then it's right back to my plan the day after.

So, I've been trying various calorie trackers and just came across one that has the actual nutrition label information for every food you eat! It's called Nutrionix Track and it's in the google playstore. I've been using calorie trackers for just over a week now and I have lost 6 lbs already (going from 310 to 304) and that's staying around 1300 calories a day. I'll definitely have the 20 lbs off by May 6th so I can get my surgery!

^^ If there was any one single maintenance-after-weight-loss tip I would wholly advocate, it is this.
Having an established “red-line” as a warning to re-evaluate your habits works to keep you on track (or get back on track). This red-line doesn’t have to be a number on a scale: it can be a certain size of jeans, number of km’s run without feeling winded, body fat percentage, etc.
Nobody gains 25 pounds so fast that they didn’t see it coming. Nor will they go up 2 pants sizes overnight. You’d have to get to +5lbs or current tight pants first. It is so much easier to drop those 5lbs earlier vs the 25lbs later if one is keeping track.

    Hi.
I am post-surgery (had mine on August 3rd this year). I just wanted to check out a forum for WLS (I'm not a fan of the FB groups so far). I'm not sure what I hope to gain except a place to read others' journeys and ask questions about my own.
Anyway, I look forward to reading and learning...hopefully!!

Thanks, it was a Smooth Move. I forgot how much I HATE moving. I’m still not sure where to put stuff. The house is nice, updated, modern and a good size for a downsize. I don’t think we could have found a better house to rent. It is so weird renting though!

I miss painting, but we found a new hobby. My oldest son called and told us to get our Pokémon cards out of storage. (My husband was a SERIOUS collector) turns out we have thousands of cards and a ton of really rare and expensive ones. I had no idea! So we are learning the ropes on EBay and having fun sifting through our treasure!

Then proceeded to fix this ginormous salad for my meal. Obviously my my eyes were hungrier than my stomach.
275 calories for the entire ginormous bowl’s contents. Will have the rest later:
