I didnt find the LD as hard because this is what I did When my date was set I made anappointment with my dietician and she told me to start a ld 2 weeks prior to surgery....this was 1 1/2 months before surgery... I started to substitue 1 meal a day (breakfast) into the Carnation Instant breakfast for 2 weeks Then the next 2 weeks (1 month prior to surgery) I started to have the carnation for dinner (and breakfast) and I would have a decent size lunch... 2 weeks prior to surgery I went into my LD not feeling like I punished mysef because i weened into it.. I have my pre op the week before surgery and I was down 16 pounds and the doc was happy as ever. I told him what I did and he now suggests this to his patient I knkow this because my husband will be banded on tuesday and he gave my husband written instructions 2 months before his date and my dh said to him looks familiar to me and he said your wife had the best idea so anyone who had a date 1-2 months out he suggests that..... Makes me feel good So now I am 2 months out and down 43 pounds after surgery

Aimee.. I am 5 7 1/2 . I had no complications. My surgery went really well I had it on a tuesday and went back to work on friday.. Call me crazy everyone else did lol... Did you have any complications? The only time I have pain in my port site is when I had my first fill my doc had a hard time finding my port ( probally to much fat) and stuck me with the needle about 50 times and a 45 mins later he finally found it he did say if he couldnt locate it he would have to do it under floro.. I hurt for a couple of days. From what I understand this is not usual only because a girl that I became friends with who had surgery the same day as me our doc only stuck her once and she was out in 5 mins... So it is not the same for everyone.... Sammee...... Carnation is like chocolate milk and I wouldnt say it is thick thick.This morning when I was drinking my carnation it took me 45 min for 8 oz how much slower can I go I am surprised the milk didnt sour on me lol... Clear Fluid goes down fine.. I didnt have any lunch or dinner because I was full I just hope tommorow this goes away if not I will call the doctor and schedule an unfill Melody.. my doc did not tell me clear liquids he just same liquids I did email him and ask him if I should just be doing clear and he said absolutly no he wanted me to have the carnation because it has the protien that I need he did tell me to try slim fast but that is way to thick yuck.. but every doctor has different requirements.. Now tommorow he has me doing mushies for 1 day and then i move to solids again.... What is your docs requirment (stages) for fills how long on mushies and when can you move to solids? Angela.... My doctor does the first initial fill 6 weeks out but he only put .5 cc in and the standard is 1.5 for the 4cc band that I have but the reason why he only puts that amout in is because he said some people only need 1 fill others need more. I met a girl at the meeting that was onle of his first patients 2 years ago and she has only 1cc in her band mind you it is a 10cc band and she has lost 175 pounds.. she was a size 32 tight and close to 400 pounds now she weighs 210 and wears a size 16 and she looks wonderful she is our inspiration at the meetings. Now my doc wants me to call him when i start to feel hungry in between meals and I can eat more than what I should that signals that it is time for another fill... He does not follow the every 6 week rule.. I am fortunate my doc has 1 day where he schedules all his fill patients and that is Tuesdays. I can walk in evcen if I have to. So i know that I amn always garenteed a fill when I need it. I started feeling hungry on thrusday of last week i called and he told me to come in aftrer work he stays open til 8... He is awesome. Also keeps in touch with his patients via email if not an emergency. We can vent to him and he will even come back with a reply whether a bad day eating or bad day in general... Hey Everyone, I am 2 months post op and I have had 2 fills already. I hve lost 43 pounds and feel great. I went to my doctor yesterday for a fill and he put in .6 cc. I did not loose any of the saline from my last fill which he put in .5 cc.. So now I have a total of 1.1 cc. Up until yesterday I never had a stuck feeling. This morning I had a carnation instant breakfast and it hurt going down is this usual Let me know for I dont want to call my doctor and raise any flags Vickie:help:

3and a half weeks oh my I was only on liquids for 1 week then 1 week of mushies and then i got to gradually add in solids now i know each doctor is different.... but he is to extreme. How long do you have to do mushies? On the other hand I dont think you are doing any damage to yourself... Good luck

Hi Everyone, I figured I would post in this thread because I am closer to 30 than 20. My name is Vickie and I am from Arlington MA. I am married to a wonderful man of 4 years. We have a son Michael Angelo 3 years old. My occupation is Sales. I was banded 4/11/06 and I am down 40 pounds after surgery and feel wonderful. I have had 1 fill but need another have appointment on Tuesday. Very nice to meet everyone. Vickie

Thank You Liz and Melody I forwarded this thread over to my doctor maybe this will shed some light on things for him..... Hopefully he will listen. I ate so much today all good food but it was too much I want to loose my weight and I am miserable when I see the scale only going up and not down Thank you for the advise Vickie

I had my first fill 2 weeks ago and my doctor put .05 cc in. I thought he was being very stingy with the fill. Two weeks later I feel absolutely no restriction. I can eat a side of a cow now (cooked). I emailed my doctor and he said that I should start eating like raisin bran between meals.. I didnt get this surgery so i can eat 5 times a day. But enough of me rambling I set up another appointment for a fill on Tuesday. Is it wrong for me to ask him to put more SALINE in? I do have a 10cc band.

Well I can tell you I had sex the noght before and it was great. I did ask my doctor because I have a hornball hubby and he said about 1 week and then you can do it if you feel up to it.. I could not hold on my hubby so when the week was up in the sack we went... But just because you cant have sex doesnt mean foreplay is out of the question

I was down 36 pounds before my first fill. My doc was impressed.. But my doc only put .05 cc in and i have the bigger band i think the 10cc ( i dont know I have to ask the doc which one i have) But u am counting down the weeks till my next fill because I am hungry again

I dont know telly but it aggrivates me to no end dh does have low self esteme he is also 450 pounds and going in for the gastric bypass next month to be honest the only reason why i started researching this surgery was for him then i decided that i wanted to do it for myself i asked him if he wanted to go first and he said he wanted me to do it first so that way he can take care of me (which he did) for 2 days then i was fine. dont get me wrong he is definately great support through out my preop diet he was on it with me and did not cheat once. now after i had my surgery he is still watching what he eats but when it comes down to me wearing something a little flattering. it is a different story It also does not help that i am the only female in an all male office. i feel like he wished he went first. but he looks great he has dropped 54 pds in 5 weeks so now he is down to like 402 pds and handsome as ever.

Wow Tellymelly I experienced that with my hubby today I went to Lane Bryant to buy size 22's today and i also bought a couple of smaller shirts so when i came home i tried them on and the dh said to me you are not wearing that to work to sexy I said to him what is so sexy about a white top with embroidery around the coller no answer so i tried on the next top and he said no your not wearing that either i was like why he said to sexy what the hell i didnt have the surgery to wear sweatpants and oversized shirts i want to feel good about myself now this is not the way my dh usually acts just last week he said to me that he cant wait to see me in summer dresses. So i am a little upset and dont know what to say to him.......:eekB:

Hey everyone even though we are closing out the month of April we should all keep in touch. So by now we should of all had our surgeries. How is the weight lost going ? is anyone having problems that they might want to share? When is your first fill? I was banded on the 11th and I am down 27 pounds and I feel great No problems as of yet My first fill is 5/20 and i cant wait

AngieO, I know the feeling that you are having. i just started my solids this week and I did experience that same feeling. I did read a post somewhere on here and they were suggesting that I hold my breathe and it will go down I did and it worked try it it may help you and good luck Vickie
