  1. I used to have the lapband and it slipped and I just recently got it replaced with the realize band. One big difference I have noticed is that previously with the lapband I had some restriction after surgery and with the new realize band I feel absolutely no restriction at all. Anybody out there with the realize band feel any restriction before their first fill?
  2. peach- I did not know that the realize band does not have as much restriction unfilled as other bands and that explains alot. I was originally banded 10/07 with the lapband and I remember feeling at least some restriction but it was recently replaced with a realize band and I feel absolutely no restriction now!
  3. bignik- I was also very hungry even after just eating an hour or two earlier but once I went on normal food that changed. I do not have any restriction so I still have to watch how much I eat but I can last a few hours before I am hungry again.
  4. OMG, I am so excited for you!!! I cannot wait to get there myself. I am so close but sometimes it just feels so far away:frown: I am really excited about my first fill because I am positive once I get that I will definetly see onederland much quicker:biggrin:
  5. I was banded 3/17 and my first fill is not until 4/24. I spent a full month unfilled waiting to see if the slippage would go back and I gained 5 lbs in that month. I am now doing lots of exercise to make sure I do not gain. I have no restriction but I am still being very careful about how much food I eat.
  6. I have been craving sweets terrible lately:eek: Normally I like sweets but not to this extreme. Hopefully it is just because they are everywhere right now. I was thinking maybe it is a comfort thing too:confused:
  7. I for one am drinking ALOT of water to try to stay away from the candy! I have 4 kids so there is alot of Junk around my house this weekend. I am buying them candy that I dont like and alot of snack food like granola bars and fruit snacks that they can have during the week. I have deceided that if I want to eat a peice of chocolate than I need to drink a full glass of water first. It does work because water makes me full and so I only ate one piece of chocolate:thumbup:
  8. I wish there was a place where people who had the band long term talked about their exsperience. Is there anywhere on this board that has that? Now that I actually slipped and had mine replaced I am nervous and thinking about if it happens again. I never gave it a thought before. I guess I just thought that it wasn't going to happen to me!
  9. I was just posting in one of the other threads that I am having trouble with Oatmeal. I love it but when I eat it I am starving an hour later. I have just been eating the instant oatmeal packs so I went and bought low sugar and had that this morning. There was a little difference but not much. How much difference is there in the weight control verses the low sugar? The low sugar is 120 cals, 6g of sugar and 3g of protein. I am definetly going to try the peanut butter, that seems like it would taste great and add some more protein.
  10. The other night I had some ground turkey, chopped to mush, with taco seasoning in it, refried Beans, salsa and some cheese. Tasted just like tacos. Today for lunch I had cooked broccoli (cooked to death), chicken breast very finely chopped and cheese mixed together. It was like heaven:) I never thought I would like mushy food so much!
  11. I have slight pain in my port area here and there. I thought it was due to the port being stitched to the muscle. I dont see my doctor until 3/24 but I will ask him to make sure it is normal.
  12. Anil- I am only down 6 lbs, was more like 9 but since I am eating more real foods now I am up a few. I feel great so things must be going good. Try not to compare your weight loss to others, if you have alot more to loose than you loose alot quicker, if you dont have that much than you loose slower.
  13. re-banded 3/17, on soft foods now and down 6 lbs since surgery. Was more but going on regular food put a few back on. Going in for my first fill 3/24, cant wait:thumbup:
  14. :hurray:CONGRATULATIONS:hurray: I sometimes get caught by the sugary drink trap too but I eventually realize it is not worth it.
  15. I am still on soft foods and I find that I am eating 1-1 1/2 cups of food. I know when I switch to normal food I will not be able to eat as much. I try really hard right now to stick to 1cup or less so I dont stretch my pouch but I know that it will all change once I hit real food and get a fill.
  16. I just did check when you wrote that- 1 packet= 130 cals, 3g protein, 3g fiber, 27g carbs and 13g of sugar I guess I need to look into the lower sugar version and see how much difference there is in sugars. I cannot stand protein drinks or really any kinds of drinks. I mostly drink water with an occasional few ounces of apple juice. Oatmeal has been a good ol' standby for me for breakfast, it is easy to eat at work and usually goes down good.
  17. Concerning the pain with fills- I had almost all my fills with no numbing medication. It felt the same to me as an IV being put in, a poke but not too bad. I feel like I have some restriction, compared to not having the band at all, but I am definetly looking forward to having a little bit more. Peas- are you on solid food today? Do you feel any restriction at all? Does anybody here eat the instant oatmeal packets in the morning? I have been having1/2-1 packet every morning and I am noticing that it makes me feel very full right after I eat it but than an hour later I am ravishing hungry! It seems like Oatmeal would stay with you longer?
  18. I cooked the heck out of some broccoli, put it in the chopper with some chicken breast and a little bit of velveeta cheese and it was like heaven!!!
  19. I think we all have days like this. We just have to pick ourselves back up and do better tommorrow. Hopefully we have more good days than bad and it will pay off in the end:thumbup:
  20. Pezo- I was wondering how you did with the crawfish. I am desperately craving shrimp but I am too scared to try them right now:drool: Were you able to chew the crawfish to mush? Peas- good luck on your appt. Hopefully it will go smoothly and you will end up with nice restriction:thumbup: Conetha- I am glad you are feeling better:redface: I felt so much better about this journey once I started to physically feel better. mdepauw- I did the same thing, I joined and than couldn't find the " Lucky Loosers". I finally did a search for Lucky Loosers and than found where it was at. I am on pureed/soft food and tonight I cooked the heck out of some broccoli, put it in the chopper with some chicken breast and a little velveeta cheese and I am in heaven right now:biggrin: I was so starving before I ate, I knew I waited too long to eat but I had to make my kids dinner first and somehow they seemed hungrier than me. Well today was the first day that I actually got all my Water in. I dont know why it is so hard, I had no problem before the surgery:confused: I feel like I had a successful day, I ate healthy, drank my water and exercised. I think this was the first day that I feel like I did everything exactly the way I was supposed to:thumbup:
  21. I love this place!!! I didn't find it until after I already slipped which was a year and a half after my first band. I have already learned so much from this site and all the people who are going through the same things as me!
  22. It is so nice to know that other people are going through this too! I am so hungry right now it is driving me crazy!!! I know how important it is to keep the amounts down so I am eating what I am supposed to but more often than 4-5 hours. I probably eat something every 2-3 hours instead. I am just trying to make it to my first fill so I can feel some restriction.
  23. teresa- I am in the same position as you. My surgery date to be re-banded was 3/17 so I am about 3 weeks out also. I lost the first week and a half and for the last week and a half I have just been trying not to gain and trying to make sure to get enough Protein and Water in my diet. I have been through this before so I know that this is normal but it is still frustrating. I know that once I get my first fill I will be on my way to loosing again. Just hang in there and be patient, you will be on your way too soon:)
  24. We are supposed to be planning a trip to Vegas this month or next, it got moved back due to me having to be re-banded, and I am so nervous about it. There is so much food in Vegas and it will all be so tempting!!!! I sure hope I have some good restriction after my first fill at the end of this month Billoh- have fun on your cruise! I dont know about you guys in Ohio but here in Michigan we just got 6 inches of snow so I am so jealous of you and your cruise at a nice sunny place :smile2:
  25. my surgeon never told me to not drink before I eat, only to not drink while I am eating or 15 minutes after.
