  1. Yup, I used mine in the hospital, too!
  2. Congrats on your journey! I was sleeved up at Cleveland Clinic last year - they’re awesome!
  3. I watch this show, but I really prefer the British show “Fat Doctor”. Not as exploitive and more low key. I watch episodes on YouTube
  4. This was a big problem for me right after surgery as well. Now, my routine is benefiber one day, miralax the next day, benefiber the next, etc. etc. it seems to have done the trick, but I can’t let up....
  5. Agree with what others said. I didn’t weigh myself until 2 weeks post-op, having read similar accounts from others. I know it’s hard to resist!
  6. Remember, the main point of the pre-op diet is to make the liver smaller and less friable for the surgeon. And 7 pounds in 7 days is actually fantastic!
  7. Looking forward to not dreading warm weather because I want to hide my body in tunics and coats, etc.
  8. I took biotene spray to the hospital, but didn’t use it. I can’t take oxy, morphine, hydrocodone etc. because they make me insanely nauseated. they did a TAP block in my abdominal muscles and I had Tylenol postop. No pain to speak of, not even the gas pain many folks talk about.
  9. Elidh replied to Auderly's topic in The Lounge
I had no pain after, not even gas. Because I can’t take opioids, they gave me a TAP block before I woke up. I think that was a big help.
  10. STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE for at least 2 weeks post-op! The iv fluids, swelling etc. will mess with your mind!
  11. In bed, I wear socks and use an electric blanket on the highest setting. I’ve still been cold lately (we live in Ohio and keep the room chilly), so I may put a down comforter on top tonight. My hands get real cold, but I refuse to wear gloves to bed (yet)!
  12. Sorry about the headache. Hopefully it has gotten better by now. The stress of surgery can cause mild elevations in blood glucose. Almost always it is temporary.
  13. Hi Raebo, I would add an immersion blender and mini waffle maker (for chaffles).
  14. Hi Suzy, I agree with what others have said. Also, I noticed you said you hardly eat anything. Make sure you know from your nutritionist how many calories and protein you should consume daily. Not enough can slow or stall weight loss.
  15. In the past, through dozens of diets, I always kept my big, fat clothes just in case. Now, I believe that philosophy reflected admitting I would likely fail. I’m 6+ months post-op and am I’m donating too-big clothes as I get smaller. It’s a great feeling! I really want to keep to the mindset that this new way of life is not just a diet.
  16. There are many WLS patients that do fine on just Tylenol post-op. I was one of them ?. And you will lose! It is so worth it - you will feel so much lighter on your feet, and have much more energy than before.
  17. Hey, Shadow, I recently discovered Ocean Spray has a line of beverages called “Diet 5”, flavors include cranberry, ruby red grapefruit, cranberry-cherry, cranberry-apple, and others. Only 5 cal per serving and delicious! My new favorite.
  18. Agree with what others have said. As hard as it was, I didn’t look at the scale until 2 weeks post-op.
  19. Jonni, I beat you by a few years - I was 67 when I had sleeve surgery last July. I was fortunate in that I had no pain or nausea, and had no trouble tolerating foods at the different stages. I retired in 2018, and didn’t want to spend my retirement years struggling with weight, yo-yo-ing etc. I was self pay, because my BMI was too low for insurance, but there are no regrets so far! Good luck on the 14th.
  20. Pre-sleeve, whenever I was on a diet, I weighed daily. I could get really bummed out with the fluctuations. Post-surgery, I weigh once weekly, on Thursdays (the day I had surgery). I think it’s more reasonable for me, but everyone has his/her own method.
  21. Your weight loss can stall with too few calories. Once, years before I was sleeved, I fasted for a whole week, thinking that consuming only clear calorie-free liquids I would really jumpstart my weight loss. I lost ZERO pounds that week!
  22. Are you taking iron supplements? Iron makes the stool dark green and sticky.
  23. For those of you who weigh every day, how many pounds gain do you accept until the alarm bell goes off?
  24. I was never a soda drinker, mainly I drink coffee. Not keen on plain water, but I’ll drink it if I have to. I’m hooked on Bigelow’s decaf French Vanilla tea. I drink it hot, but I bet iced would be yummy, too.
  25. Before gastric sleeve sx, whenever I was on one of my myriad of diets, I weighed every day. Now, post-sx, I only weigh once a week, on Thursdays, naked first thing in the morning.
