Teres36 got a reaction from SAH_Dog_Mom in Too old for plastics?
I just had a Tummy Tuck, hernia repair and breast lift on Monday. I’m 64 years young. No regrets and I’m still very much in the healing process. Had Gastric sleeve 11 months ago and so glad I didn’t wait any longer for my plastics. I had a basketball size hernia sack that was removed as well as hernia repair with mesh and about 3-4 lbs of skin. It’s all worth it! Go for it at any age!

I had my gastric sleeve at 63. Best decision I could have made. Paid for it out of pocket without insurance help. Didn’t want to jump through hoops for another year to have insurance pay for it. Highly recommend it to change your life. I’m 11 months out and need to lose 11 lbs to reach my goal.

I had a Tummy Tuck last year, at age 60. I had some significant post-op complications, but now that I'm on the other side of all that, I can say that this surgery was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. Never too old, as long as your surgeon says you are eligible, Healthwise, for plastics!

I love being able to ‘dress’ but I also love coming home to my comfy, knit/stretch pants, shorts & dresses. Went to dinner last night & took ages to find something to wear - yeah I get the irony. The going out things I wore last summer are too big & literally falling off. Losing 10 kg is truely dropping two dress sizes! I don’t know whether to Celebrate or cry. Looks like I need to refine my wardrobe again sigh!
Had appointment with my glaucoma specialist today so I got to ‘dress’. My doctor is simply delightful & a real gentleman. He’s about 70 & I fear every time I visit he’ll tell me he’s retiring. Today he made me a cup of tea & showed me clips from his favourite Bollywood movies in between all the eye tests. 😆
Now I’m home, having another cup of tea, in a knit dress (summer here whoo hoo), on my couch, watching a repeat My 600lb Life & reading this forum - perfect marriage.
Love the toe nail polish Ms SSS - perfect colour. Hope the toe gets better soon.

I also cut my hair off on my sons birthday, just needed a change to get me through it. I took 7 inches off. It looks much better now that I learned to style it.

My City Chic dress. I bought it 3 sizes too small and now it fits. Can’t wait to be able to actually wear it out!

Two in one day! My husband and I flew down to Phoenix to visit a friend in her new retirement home. Dinner out tonight at an amazing steak house, and I’m loving the opportunity to show off the new bod ❤️

Loving the button fly jeans now that my belly is flat and not at risk of popping the buttons! Got these Madewell jeans at a thrift shop for $9.99. I love a good bargain :)

I’m six months out and my stomach is so noisy after eating or drinking. There is no pain associated with the noise. My husband now calls me “Tiger” due to all the growling.

I had my Gastric Bypass surgery in August 2019, surgery was a breeze but have suffered with sickness and nausea for the last year but due to Covid haven’t been able to see my surgeon. Was prescribed Odensetron which helps somewhat. But regardless of the sickness and not being able to keep foods down I do not regret having it done at all. Have lost over 140lbs . Before and after pics attached

Teres36 reacted to Officially Not Fatty Matty in I’m not obese!
So for the first time since probably middle school (30 years ago! (Omg that hurt)) I’m not technically obese per BMI charts! Broke below 240 this morning which puts me at 29. I have a friend who’s a pro body builder and he’s technically obese too without a lick of fat on him so I don’t really give much credit to those charts but I’ll take the little wins wherever I can!

Today, I am One Month, Two Days out from my Mommy Makeover (Tummy tuck, butt lift, fat transfer, Lipo, breast reconstruction, and lift, as well as augmentation) with Dr Niebles ( Neibles) in TJ Mexico.
This man is a miracle worker, and I feel like I am finally in the body that I was meant to be in my whole life!
I had my gastric sleeve May 15, 2012.
Lost my weight (110lbs) right away, and then stayed at my goal and held for 6 more months until May of this year, and booked my body reconstruction with not so high expectations of the outcome. Every day I look at my body and I can't believe that it's mine! I am finally in the body that I belong in! I am about 10 more lbs down. I could NOT be happier with my new body and my new LIFE!

Now, I want to play, too, in a medium top and a size 8 jeans. I don't know that I've ever been this small in my whole life! It's mindboggling every time I look in a mirror!

This is me at my mid-goal photo. I still have about 40lbs to go! I can’t believe I’m this thin again! The pants were my daughters and I had to ask her to bring me some things because nothing fit. Top is a Large and trending to Medium pretty fast!!

This is almost 14 months after surgery. I am 74, and happier than I've ever been. Walking daily only 30 minutes, but loving it. With work and determination, this is life-changing surgery. You are never too old either. I even had a glass of wine and a piece of cake for my birthday and didn't gain anything. Feeling blessed.

Tomorrow morning marks my one year anniversary! Seems like so long ago that I was anxiously awaiting my surgery. Nervously wondering if I was doing the right thing or was I taking drastic and unnecessary measures. And then post-op dealing with the pain every time I tried to re-position... the stabbing pain from the main incision with movement. The barely being able to take a sip of fluids, much less actually eating! What an adventure this year has been. Do I regret any part of this crazy year? Well... I totally regret this Coronavirus nightmare that has taken over my life, but I am so proud of myself for taking control of my body and my health. I lost over 100 pounds. I wear a size 4. I look healthy. I FEEL healthy. So, my first weight was 226.8 pounds at my first weigh in. I was about 205 on surgery day. I got down to 123 (point something). I am maintaining at about 125-128. My goal was 135 and a size 6-8... so I will take it! And today, just at the 365 day mark... I saw my cardiologist. My labs are PERFECT!!! Well, not my bilirubin (you may recall that is a long time issue for me), but everything else is perfect! Not only were my LDL cholesterol and triglycerides WAY DOWN... my HDL cholesterol was REALLY GOOD! So much so that I am OFFICIALLY off my metoprolol for tachycardia (stopped taking it several months ago due to low blood pressure) and I am OFFICIALLY off my Lipitor for cholesterol!!!!! I had asked 6 months ago if I can try to go without it... he insisted on 6 more months, repeat labs, and then he MIGHT consider it. Well, I didn't even have to bring it up. He was so happy he just told me to stop it. He wants me to get follow up labs at my PCP in 6 months, and see him again next year... but he predicts he will be releasing me from his care altogether. YAY! We also discussed my never ending mysteriously high bilirubin and the tests I did this year that left us with no answers. He has determined that I probably have Gilberts Disease which is a benign liver disease. He wants me to see a specialist to do the differential diagnosis.... but I predict that will be quick and I won't actually need any ongoing treatment. But... I do want to do it because I want to finally put a name to whatever causes my bilirubin to be elevated all the time (my whole adult life at least). I see the FNP at the surgeon office for my one year follow up tomorrow. I did those labs the same day, and they too were excellent (besides the bilirubin lol). I think they are having me see the nutritionist too... somehow she didn't show up for my last appointment which was supposed to be by phone call.

Exercise.... I love walking and hiking, although work has been crazy so that has been a challenge. I try to do 3-6 mile walks in the early AM (at 4:30 before the AZ heat rises), but this past month has been a challenge. Getting better again though. Food: I eat pretty well, although I could do better. I have to be careful because lately I have been craving salt and sweets again. Depending on what it is, I tolerate most of it well. It's funny because I can always go a long time without them.... but when I want them I want them. It just dawned on me though that I haven't had Protein Bars in the house for several months. I found one that got hidden among other items and just ate it... and was reminded that this is exactly what I need to fulfill my sweet tooth without filling my stomach with crap. As soon as I came to that realization, I hopped online and ordered 6 bags of the Unjury Mighty Bite Protein bars. They are the perfect size and fill me up quite well.
Anyhow... that is my 1 year update! Stay healthy everyone!

You seem to be on the same track as me. I was 215 on day of surgery and now 3 months out and I weigh 184.5. So I have basically lost 10 pounds a month. Slow but hopefully it will stay off this way. Don’t get discouraged, it will happen for both of us!
