I am getting mine pretty easily, BUT the required amount is 60 grams AND they said for the first week that was aspirational. 80 g is a lot! I am having a harder time getting the 64oz on water/liquids, but getting at least 40. You can only do what you can do!

AlwaysCruising got a reaction from PollyEster in Liquid and Food - timing issues
    Hi all -
I had my sleeve done on Thursday afternoon and came home yesterday (fri). I had expected a huge problem from the gas used in surgery as I had a hysterectomy (close to that same procedure for both) and that is what I got, a huge problem. I hardly noticed any pain in my abdomen from the surgery because of the severity of the gas-related pain in my shoulder and back. But feel like the Charco tabs worked far better than gas-x (and my husband lightly whacking my back with cupped hands (what they do for CF but not that hard). This morning most of that is better.
    1. I know most all the basics, but some of the details on shaky as I put it all in play! For example: In the liquid stage is there 30 minutes between each drinks (the rules deal with food and liquid that I have seen ca. 2 liquids or 2 actual food items).

    2. my surgeon/nutritionist say I can drink up to the point of eating, but I need to wait 30 minutes after eating to drink. The nutritionist for Bariatrics at the hospital, however, said I was better off waiting 30 minutes So I am going with the latter for now. But still, whether due to remaining gas or to reflux or whatever, it feels uncomfortable to eat and drink no matter how small the bites.

    3. Another timing issue has happened twice - I started this morning with a Protein Shake. But about 15m waiting 30 minutes for a food item, I realized that I need to take some meds. I needed some sips to take the pills. Do those few sips mean I begin the counter again? In other words, I am curious about the experience of others on this topic and how you interpreted this (more conservative) rule.
    4. In the last hour it feels as if my stomach is growling, as with actual hunger. We will continue to have hunger, but with the increase in acid and gas it much harder to interpret these sensations and feelings.

For my hysterectomy the bad part of the gas was about 48 hours. But it is so painful for me now with the sleeve surgery that is takes my breath away. I have done every single think that could have heloed and have walked a hole in the floor since just after surgery. It is disheartening to have this much pain not even directly related to the surgery 😢

Hi gang. I’m back. My surgery is rescheduled for July 23rd. I had my. First Iron infusion. I’m happy with this. Getting 500 mg of a medication via IV (forgot the name) which is suppose to be stronger and improve my anemia by a lot and I’ll be ready for surgery. I am excited and happy with the change. I was upset at first but the universe had other plans. FYI my hemoglobin is at 7.7.

4 days since my sleeve - doing pretty good at getting my Protein in (60g) and decently on Water (64oz is my goal, yesterday only managed 30 but better the day prior).

only real problem is with the surgical gas - it’s worse than with my hysterectomy (which was rough for 2 days). Last night the pain was so bad in my side that I was in tears (i don’t tend toward the dramatic, it honestly feels as if someone was twisting my muscles on my left side). I have taken every possible step - walking lots, gasx, heating pad, etc. Research shows Most clears out by day 3, but I am day 4 and it only changed sides 😩
On the positive side, I am down 6.6 lb 😊. Sending good wishes out to you all!

Awww! Such a Yummy Father’s Day 🦐🎁 !! So nice of you MaybeMeow!! Glad you’re coming along better each day and great you’ll have the whole weekend for just YOU to relax, breathe, care for you.
Fine here...had a bit of nausea for no apparent reason today-finally took Zofran and it’s easing up. Drinking Water, trying to stay positive amidst the rising COVID-19 numbers here in FL🤧.
Walk back memory lane re: your Dad not liking heavy women—mine, God rest his soul was exactly same🙄. He would be 92 right now=their generation. I can still remember feeling his disappointment when I began gaining. SO happy for you that you’re in charge and focused ONWARD!💃🌟 Wishing you a thoroughly regenerative weekend!

Disagree if you like, but almost every bariatric surgeon and mental health expert in the world would agree with me. I didn’t pull that out of nowhere, it was not just a personal opinion. From what you posted it seems that you believe that you think you know better than all those healthcare professionals. There are so many studies and articles on the topic, but here are only a very few:
Discrepancy Between Ideal and Realistic Goal Weights in Three Bariatric Procedures: Who Is Likely to Be Unrealistic? Published in Obesity Surgery
    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19789932/

One of the factors being assessed by those doing pee-surgical screenings is whether or not the patient has reasonable goals since unrealistic goals too often lead to failure and disappointment. Telling people to have reasonable goals is not the same thing as saying someone should not work hard toward a goal. I lost 100 pounds after menopause through diet and exercise with a thyroid disorder and PCOS, so know that I’m really well versed in what it takes to meet big goals. But as someone now 8 years out from that loss, I can assure you that results 1 year out aren’t the same as 5 years out and further (no matter how the weight was lost).
So it might be good to be a bit less certain of the future and ongoing results and allow that perhaps there is more to what happens with our bodies that putting our mind to it. That is, after all, why most are having this surgery vs. losing it via Jenny Craig, yes? People have very different physiological systems, resources, and abilities and just wanting something doesn’t make it happen (that only happens in magic).
The point of my post was to say that the original poster should stop beating herself up - surprising that anyone found something to argue with about that. For most people these boards are a stopping off point for a while, as it Is that for me. I am not here to get into power plays or high school like squabbles. I don’t need people to follow me or agree with me. But science doesn’t lie and the facts are the facts. A motivational speech doesn’t change any of that.

@MaybeMeow this! So much this. My surgery got moved up a week and is supposed to be 6/19. I am so nervous. I started this process in January. I was gung-ho on getting healthy, started orange theory and thought I’d lose a bunch of weight before the surgery so that I’d have an easier time. Then my back issues started coming back... and then lockdown from covid and anxiety hit the roof. Instead of losing weight, I’ve gained 15lbs waiting for the surgery. I thought I had 4 more weeks to get back on track but it looks like I’m starting the liquid diet on Friday. I’m 5’2”, 230 lbs now. I thought I’d have more time. food funerals have been frequent and I’ve been eating more - a ton more even for me. I’ve also kept this process to myself with just my spouse in the know.
And I can’t believe I just wrote that.

Omg just checked my insurance website. I was approved!! I am so excited!!! Began this journey in June 2019. Surgery delayed due to covid19. NYC was hit so hard. My main focus was to stay safe despite normal feelings of disappointment. Surgery 6/29/2020. I am sooooooo delighted. The time is always right.

Also just for context, Mypaperwork was submitted on Monday, took 2 days to be approved.

I have to wait 6 weeks for whole pills (1 more week)! I’ve been taking my capsule with powder in them by mixing with unsweetened apple sauce and it’s very tolerable. My multi is chewable (flint stones) and my pantropazole is the only pill and I cut it in half.
