banana ALMOND MILK is my savior. I love it so much. Far less carbs than bananas which I love in smoothies and have missed terribly.
I mix 1/2 cup with chocolate PB2 and a single serving Fage Greek Yogurt along with a couple drops of chocolate stevia. This is my 23 gram Protein Shake I drink every morning. 180 calories 13 carb 23 Protein.
The other things I eat at least a few times a week and always need in the house:
1% cottage cheese with a teaspoon of REAL Ranch dressing and a small finely chopped Tomato.
Crack An Egg with the ham or bacon added only.
Peel and eat shrimp with cocktail sauce from Whole Foods.
    Old Wisconsin Turkey bites
    Rotisserie chicken.
    Riced cauliflower
Fresh Apples or right now Pears (perfect this time of year but a lot of sugar so just a slice or two at a time)
93% lean cooked Ground beef and crunchy taco shells with a good fresh pico.
    Brie
    pretzels
This is pretty much my diet at 4 months post op.

Lily66 reacted to ms.sss in Losing Quarantine Weight!
I gained 6 lbs January to end of March (stopped exercising regularly, tracking my food, weighing myself daily, and probably ate more, but I don't know since I wasn't tracking!!). I went back to my routine and lost those 6 lbs in 3-4 weeks in April, while we were in lock down.
But then 4-5 of those effing lbs came back again between May to August (dessert & alcohol consumption increase) and it took me almost 2 months to lose them again. Which was a wake up call about how my super weight-loss powers have diminished.
Moral of the story is if your aim is to maintain a certain weight, do something about it now when it's only a few pounds vs later when its much, much more.
There is no mystery on how to do this: exist in a calorie deficit until you reach your goal. I dropped down to about 1300-1500 cals a day...if I went lower, the weight would have come off faster, but I didn't, so it didn't.

Another salad? Yes. I was overzealous when buying salad greens and accidentally bought a box that expired 10/15. However, they are organic and last a lot longer than their "best by..." date so I am determined to beat the clock in these.
I'm also logging consistently - likely because the Baritastic app is easy and doesn't expose my private information to cyberattacks (Under Armour/MFP ... thanks)

Lily66 got a reaction from GreenTealael in Cannabis and WLS
I was on medically prescribed cannabis tincture following back surgery. It helped a great deal with pain and inflammation, and as you suggest, was much better than opiod. In the first few months post WLS it was fine, still helping and no increased appetite. As I neared month 6 post WLS, I noticed my appetite was returning and the tincture was making it harder to stay on plan. By then I was down 50lbs which helped back pain so much that I just quit the cannabis tincture completely. I wish you the best, may your body lead you to a good place!

I can't say that I've had a whole cheat day or even a cheat meal really. There have been a handful of times where I had a bite or two of something I probably shouldn't, but so far I've been able to keep it at that. Honestly I try not to even do that though because I don't want to backslide. I get that some people subscribe to not wanting to completely deprive themselves of something for fear of wanting it even more, but I am trying to take the approach of an addict where abstaining is usually the best option. I would say do what feels right for you and just be careful.

So yesterday I figured I’d roast the garlic cloves I used for the souvlaki marinade from last night’s dinner for a bit of garnish. Turns out the fam loved them just a la carte and this morning, asked if I could roast some more to eat as a snack. ?!
I was all, ok, but you all are weird.
I had a sample of it and I am now a believer. YUM. I ate 3: 20 calories.
Now we all gotta go gargle with some mouthwash for a while...

I found that I got bored quickly. It was easy for me to make excuses as to why I didn’t go to the gym or why I chose to eat cheesecake at 10pm at night. I recognized that I was depressed.

We all know what we are supposed to do and yet we choose to do the opposite? Once I recognized my depression, I made the decision to work on it. I also stepped out of what I normally did and tried something new, in terms of exercise.

I scoffed at the expense of doing Pilates, but I tried it for a week. I got a pass for $20 and I vowed that if I showed up at least 3 times a week, then I would sign up! I went 5 times. It was so relaxing. It was in a small setting( COVID conscious) and I felt very accomplished after each class. It surprised me. I was getting stronger every class, my anxiety about the pandemic went away, I began drinking more Water and I started making smarter choices with my eating. I noticed a difference almost immediately.

That one act created a domino effect. Just say to yourself, “I’m going to walk/climb stairs for 15 minutes 3 times a week” see where that takes you.

Do a sleeve reset. Do one thing for yourself and see if it’s a catalyst to getting back on track.

I ended up having surgery to convert from a sleeve to bypass. I had horrible Gerd and I decided I wasn’t going to live on ppis for the rest of my life. I just had surgery last week and the struggle is real. But I look forward to getting back into the Pilates studio and I haven’t experienced GERD at all.

I have faith that you can find that one thing to get you back in track! I’m rooting for you! Good luck and be well!

Lily66 reacted to ms.sss in What was/is your greatest fear?
Nothing wrong with caring about your appearance, nor wanting to feel comfortable with what you see in the mirror. We all know that its not helpful to worry about something that may or not happen in the future, but we do it anyway. Maybe the goal is not to stop worrying, but to deal with the worry a little bit better. There are a myriad of things you can do, and something in there is bound to ease the anxiety (even if just a little)...just need to find it. Since you didn't ask, I won't list them out, but Google is your friend.
To the question you did ask:
My greatest fear was dying on the table. When I woke up from surgery my first thought was "Yes! I'm alive!"
My current greatest fear is still also dying. After over 15+ years of being MO, I am so grateful to be in a body that allows me to enjoy so many aspects of life that I want lots and lots and lots of more years to do it.

    So sorry for your loss.
I hate when people say these things..... They don't realize how much words affect you. My x was my biggest NON-supporter.... but he is gone now (yayyyyy).
There are some things you can do: Start logging your food in a food app... I like Myfitnesspal and Baritastic. Do this for a week and really see where your fats, cals, and carbs are coming from. Start to remove them from your diet. Go back to Portion Control. Start over, do your two-week preop diet. Food prepping is a great way to get back on track. Moving more.... Surgically i think you can do the band over bp, or the DS.... but i'm not 100%
Have you been back to you dr? If not... goooooo. Don't be embarrassed about your weight gain. Tell him/her the truth about what's going on in your life and get him/her on board. The dr is there to help you succeed. You are not the first person to regain and you won't be the last..... But, you are the only person that can make the changes happen. YOU CAN DO THIS..... when the nonsupportive people start telling you crap.... walk away, just walk away. Surround yourself with positive people... If you can make an appointment with your NUT and psychiatrist.... they can help you with food choices.... and help you with the emotional part of why.
    Wishing you all the best....

Yep stigma is a huge part of it and a part of the reason it took me as long as it did to decide this is what I needed to do. Only a month out so far, but very glad that I finally did it.

Lily66 got a reaction from Zom B in Linzess
Always a worthwhile discussion as so many are in this “constipation boat” with us. Everyone has been so helpful with suggestions, Miralax, MOM, Benefiber, Psyllium, Dulcolax, glycerin suppositories, Smooth Move tea, enema’s, along with increased fruits, veggies, increased fluids, consistently walking 2+ miles daily. Have tried each of these, and still do many, with great hope but nothing works more than a few days. Perhaps it truly is just an Irritable Bowel in grouchy mode from being messed with during surgery. It seems for many to ultimately resolve itself over time to a large degree...?🤷‍♀️
My surgeon prefers the Benefiber route, my PCP prefers MOM full dose daily until a good movement is produced and then a tablespoon of MOM nightly as maintenance. He added “your body needs the magnesium anyway”.
Sadly, the tbls. nightly doesn’t maintain. Ready to give Linzess, for irritable bowel (and not a laxative) another whirl.
Good luck Zom B, and thanks everyone for discussion.💝

I work in a GI department. There is no difference in the prep for WLS patients. They do just fine - at least just as fine as anyone else. No one is actually thrilled with it. Some tolerate it better than others, but I have not seen any correlation between tolerance and WLS.
